I guessed 5 of 10 before looking at the lineup.

I didn't look at the list but Illinois has to be one of them. Corn fields and Chicago. And people think Kansas it boring.

Planetman 07-22-2012 01:23 PM

Isn't there already a state of depression?

I thought the same thing, since I live in this shit hole state. But, surprisingly it wasn't on the list. Doesn't make sense.

It isn't actually. Take a look Dr. and see if the diagnosis fits for those listed.

BigMeatballDave 07-22-2012 01:32 PM

I'm surprised Ohio isn't on there.

Planetman 07-22-2012 01:32 PM

Must be a slow day at The Weather Channel for them to compile this list.

Missouri

Missouri isn’t at the bottom of the barrel in any one measure of mental health, but it gets very low marks in several areas, including the rate of serious psychological distress (13%).
Fortunately for residents, the Show-Me State has had a proactive approach to preventing and treating mental-health problems. In 2008 it began a pilot program to integrate primary care and mental health care, and it was the first state in the U.S. to implement Mental Health First Aid, a program that trains teachers, policemen, and other nonspecialists to recognize the symptoms of mental illness and offer help.

You're all kinds of ignorant aren't you? Approaching Bo Pelini levels. What do cornfields have to do with a persons state of happiness? Don't see Kansas, Nebraska or Iowa on that list. Get a clue.

I, like you, was surprised as well that boring ass Iowa didn't make the list!

WV 07-22-2012 04:22 PM

Damnit....they drew me in and made me depressed making WV last. I was hoping there was at least one shitty list we weren't a part of. That being said I love living here, but I am in the Eastern Panhandle which is a world away from the Southern part of the State.

Cornfields are depressing and Iowa sucks.

Bump 07-22-2012 04:32 PM

slideshow = exit out of that tab

Because dude, the popular phrase "Running backwards naked through a cornfield" isn't nearly as satisfying as he thought it would be, hence the animosity he has for cornfields.

chiefsfan987 07-22-2012 04:36 PM

I'm shocked Washington isn't on there.

Bob Dole 07-22-2012 04:55 PM

WTF is wrong with people? Most of the states on the list have amazing outdoor activities in which you can engage. If the people who live there are depressed, it's mostly their own damned fault.

Work hard, live within your means, and stop expecting everyone else to support and entertain your lazy ass.

DaFace 07-22-2012 05:01 PM

These ****ing slideshow articles are a giant pain in the ass. Whoever came up with this format needs to be kicked in the junk.

Anyway, here's the list for those of you who, like me, just want to see the names and don't care about clicking through 11 screens.

Arkansas
Indiana
Kentucky
Michigan
Mississippi
Missouri
Nevada
Oklahoma
Tennessee
West Virginia

R8RFAN 07-22-2012 05:04 PM

I knew WV had to be on that list.... I weigh more than I should but my God they have the fattest people I have ever seen in my life there. Charleston WV has to be the ugliest city I have ever seen in my life... Looks like something out of the 60's ... Everything is this depressing tan color. It's not as bad this time of year but in the winter it's brown and snows 4 days a week, always cloudy..

I agree with you Bob Dole

Thanks man. I wasn't aware how ignorant I was even after living in Kansas and Illinois 20 miles from Nebraska and 30 from Missouri all my life. Thank God you're here to inform me as well as take everything I said dead serious.

You may take these things too seriously. I'm so bored with Kansas I'm probably moving bad there in 2 years.

10. Arkansas
9. Indiana
8. Kentucky
7. Michigan
6. Mississippi
5. Missouri
4. Nevada
3. Oklahoma
2. Tennessee
1. West Virginia

(I'm not 100% sure they meant it to be a countdown, but that's the order they were on the site.)

If you read the very first page all they did was put them in alphabetical order.

Bambi 07-22-2012 05:11 PM

Why would Kansas be on the list? Everyone who's successful from Missouri moves there.

I would have read it, but I was too angry at the fact it was a slideshow. I'll edit my post though. :)

Northern Ohio is struggling, but southern and central Ohio (which makes up a good chunk of the population) is doing very well.

I agree with you Bob Dole

There are certainly more than the fair share, but any travels through the south will rival the numbers in Charleston. I will give you that Charlston is a depressing city though, it faced a long slow death with the reduction of coal mining and the basic elimination of the Chemical plants. Even with that, it is beautiful country down there through if you like Mountains and such.

More frustrating is the policies that come out of Charleston because they believe they are still the epicenter of the state. Living in the Eastern Panhandle I know that between here and the Northern Panhandles, we support this entire state financially.

Can someone who sat through yet another lame ass "slide show" list just post the list in this thread?

tredadda 07-22-2012 05:58 PM

With the year we have been having, I am surprised Colorado did not make the list.
