another VEGAS thread

Spending the weekend in Vegas for my boy's bachelor party. I'm positive that we will have no problems finding trouble, but figured I'd come here and listen to suggestions. Best places to eat, watch the games, best bargains, strip clubs, etc. We're all big fans of sports, and titties, so probably be posted up watching/betting on games by day, and partying/looking for strange by night. What ya got CP?

Aria's sportsbook is awesome. I believe the Bellagio sportsbook still offers free drinks. Most others you have to bet big or go out to the casino floor and wait for a cocktail waitress.

Really?

Well that sucks. I thought it was kind of a sweet idea. (Especially on a 115 degree day in Vegas)

ReynardMuldrake 10-05-2011 01:00 PM

For restaurants, the Peppermill is awesome hangover food. It's just across from Circus Circus. For breakfast, Hash House a go-go is good. I forget which casino it was in, kinda over by Harrah's I think, 2nd floor. You can't see it from the strip but it's there. Also, Le Burger in Paris is a cool, surprisingly inexpensive burger/sports bar in Paris. Great place to grab lunch.

Also, get passes on The Deuce if you plan on seeing the strip. Much faster than walking. But be sure to see Fremont street too.

I walked by it. It just looks like a subway entrance. It looked stupid so I didn't go in. Of course this was at night and it was about 65 at the time.

topless pool called Bare at the Mirage for a $20 entry. Lagasse Stadium in the Palazzo is a bad ass sports bar to watch your games.

Walk around the strip and guys in suits are standing on corners ready to take a party of guys to a strip club. When these guys take you to the clubs in limos you get the cover charge wiped at all doors and all each person is expected to do is buy 2 drinks minimum at the club.

Write this number down. 904-881-9927 his name is Rod. He's a club promoter and gets a lot of people looking to party together and goes club hoppin and its an extremely affordable way to go clubbin and have an awesome time. You'll get cover charges wiped at all club entrances and also get table/bottle service the entire night. He'll treat ya good.

you sure? I went there and they were handing out 2 for 1 cocktails. I had two of their specialty cocktails then 2 shots of patron. The cover is for the coat, boots, and gloves you have to wear when you go in.

Steel Panther at House of Blues inside Mandalay bay FOR SURE!!! Must see show.

Hugos Cellar at the 4 Queens for the best steak in town at the best price. Plus you get that Old School Vegas mob feel.:D

fold a $20 and discreetly stick it in between your driver's license and credit card at check in. The desk clerk should read this as the universal Vegas sign for a free room upgrade. If it works you'll find yourself in a nice suite with a sick view, if there are no rooms available they will surely apologize and refuse to take the tip.

I guess they may change the cover charge all the time. I was there 3 years ago just before the economy crashed.

CHENZ A! 10-05-2011 03:18 PM

Good suggestions here, thanks!

So the Bellagio sports book has FREE drinks? That's crazy, bet that place gets packed on Sundays. We were thinking about placing bets then going to watch at a sports bar. Anyone been to or heard of Blondies?

Johnny Vegas 10-05-2011 03:32 PM

the Bellagio is my spot. The bartenders at Bellagios sportsbook are awesome folks. They the best washington apple shots ever. As far as I know Aria's sportsbook offer free drinks while you watch as I took part in it. I know if you stick a $5 in the video poker machines at the Bellagio sportsbook you'll get a free drink. Not sure about while watching a game.

someone mentioned spearmint rhino. I had the pleasure to go there. Like I mentioned before we ran into a guy in a suit wanted to take us to a strip club and we got a free ride in a limo took the vip entrance and had a blast there.

Go to Dick's Last Resort in Excalibur to start the night. Decent grub, good place to begin the drinking, and they treat you like shit. Fun as hell. Had fun down on Fremont Street. I swear the dealers in Binnions are porn stars. I'm guessing, of course.

You will want to be to the sportsbook early if you want a good seat to watch the games. They fill up quick. If you don't care about watching them at the book, just make your bets and head to a bar like you mentioned.

Sorry if I missed it but where are you staying?

I've heard good things about SR and OG.

I went to LV for the first time ever within the past month. We stayed at Mandalay Bay; which is essentially at the end of the new strip. To go to the old strip it cost me $33 in cabfare. I clearly underbudgeted. The second day there I drank RBV's all day and chugged a rum n coke. I was done. All I ate was hot n spicy cheetos that day so you can imagine the mess. LMAO

From what I understand, drinks are free at any sports book as long as you have a bet going. But the waitress doesn’t come around very often and the drinks are small.

And its always pool weather in Vegas.

Beg to differ on this. Went in late November for the LV Invitational last year. Highs in the upper 50's. Pools were closed and even if they were open, I wouldn't have jumped in.

Dartgod 10-06-2011 07:54 AM

Watch football at the Hilton. They open up the showroom and have a bunch of huge screens showing all the games. No free drinks unless you know someone *wink*, but it's a great place to watch football on Sundays.

I'm pretty much a regular at the Flamingo,so here's a few tips.Upon check-in go to the Total Rewards Center and get yourself a Harrah's player's card. The Flamingo sportsbook is not much at all but it's fine to place your bets there especially since you're staying there.IMPORTANT...upon placing your bets give them your player's card and ask for your FREE drink tickets, you MUST ask. These are good at any of the bars at Flamingo for domestic beer and the like.

The bar closest to the sportsbook is normally quite a fun spot if you're into video poker because at least per my experience the machines are quite loose.IMPORTANT...if you want more free drinks, simply sit down at the bar insert your card into a VP machine with $5 to $10 and then wait for bartender and/or get their attention before playing(else prepare to pay $5-$7 for a beer).Service is normally quite good.Order your drink and play a hand or two of VP.There are 3 tv's above this bar and football and or play-offs will be on so,if you choose to sit there and watch keep your card in machine and gamble a bit but all your drinks will be comped and fairly quickly.I usually tip $1 per.

Flamingo is not a grand casino but it's fun and down to earth.IMPORTANT...I don't normally like spending a lot of bucks on food when in Vegas so keep in mind on either side of the Flamingo you have the following 2 places.1.O'Sheas
which is also owned by Harrah's so your player's card can be used there. This place usually has GREAT live music and is always packed and the bonus is it has a Subway inside for $5 footlongs :D 2.Bill's Gamblin' Hall which between midnight and 6 a.m. has a $5.99 steak and eggs and the extras.

Lastly your Total Rewards player's card is good at any Harrah's casino and I suggest using it whenever gambling as they have a great comp program and they can be used anywhere including Harrah's KC.

Some of Harrah's properties in Vegas include
Harrah's
O'Shea's
Flamingo
Caesars Palace
The Paris
Bally's
Planet Hollywood
Imperial Palace
The Rio(off the strip but there's a free shuttle at Bally's,the sportsbook there if you get there early and get a seat has comped drinks during any game and I never once had to show that I was gambling.)

ALSO,per Dartgod's post for NFL action on Sunday get your ass to the Hilton and NFL Central at the old Manilow theatre.Best place to watch games bar none and it gets to rockin'.Also note, the Hilton sportsbook, seperate from the theatre is the mother of all Vegas sportsbooks, and I mean the mother, giant tv screens and the absolute largest book in all of Vegas and if you venture over there still has comped drinks during the games.

Sorry, this was so long but seeing that I know you and appreciate your past gifts :D I wanted to make sure you at least have a damn good idea on getting around.

Have a great time!!

P.S. For beautiful women and a very seductive show with fockin' great music, take your buddy to see X-Burlesque at The Flamingo. It's up close and somewhat personal(not a strip club) but the wimmen are WOW and the show is top notch. The only negative is that they rape you on the drinks,so get nice and buzzed before you go,the show is at 10p.m. nightly.

For a really good cheap steak (yeah, I know, those two words aren't normally used together), go to the diner at Ellis Island Casino at Flamingo and Koval. It's not to far from the Flamingo, so you could walk to it if you want.

For $6.99 you get a really good strip steak, potato, veggie, salad, roll and a beer. They have a brew pub on site, so you can try one of their brews which are pretty good. It's not on the menu, so just ask for the steak special.

I had heard about this for years and finally tried it last time out. I will go back again.

Hell yes. I got broke in on Vegas when this place was the Barbary Coast; learned to play cards there because it had the cheap tables.

I don't believe any of this is accurate, sorry. There are only a few sportsbook that offer free drinks to everyone regardless of amount wagered. Most are going to want to see $50+ bets and then give you a drink ticket that you can exchange for a drink. If you tip the person taking the bet, they might feel generous and give you some tickets but not guaranteed.

It is not always pool weather in Vegas as the majority of them shut down over the winter months.

Well...you're wrong.

Yes, the drinks are free. And you can order most drinks. Same thing goes for the Casino. If you're playing a slot...even if it's a penny slot, the waitress will bring you free drinks. Now, if you don't leave a decent tip, she probably won't come around too often...so they're not ENTIRELY free. But a few bucks for a tip is better than $10 + and a tip.

I stayed at Paris a few months ago and my wife and I went into a steak house they had their. Can't recall the name though. Dropped $200.00 but it was the best damn steak I ever had.

Earthbound 10-06-2011 09:52 AM

I'm trying to help with this guy's plans and you are simply giving bad information if you think you can go to any sportsbook on the strip and get free drinks by betting $5 on the games. They stopped doing that quite a while ago. Most now require a certain level of action before they give you a drink ticket or tip the person taking your bet.

Drinks are, however, free for anyone on the casino floor playing games. Sit at a penny slot with a dollar in the machine and get served drinks all night long (just tip the waitress).

Hooters in general have the worst wings ever.

Well, for what it's worth these were wings served by a restauraunt in the casino. The _____ Onion. Not sure if they were Hooters' wings or not. But, even for a quarter a piece you'd expect SOMETHING. But, hell ****ing no.

wow. really? don't get butt hurt. What I meant by saying I was there 2 weeks ago is the pools should still be open. They say on their websites pools are open year round. So yea the pools will be open. I'll tell you what the weather is today 2 weeks from now and then we can argue over pool times again, kay?

Dude from Montana (beautiful state though it is) telling a Vegas resident what the weather in Vegas is like and when the pools are open based on what he read on teh intrawebs and a 3 day stay a couple weeks ago.

What's next? You gonna' tell Carlotta what kind of music the radio stations in Vegas play?

Gotta' love it.

I go to Vegas a lot given the cheap flights. So I have a very, very good idea of the seasons there. All I have to do is check the weather too. I was sitting pool side in the Mirage as was a lot of people the end of September and its not based on what I read on the web. I pointed out they say on the websites pools are open year round if you want to check it out.
