Broken Planes & Families, and the number 159
Passenger jet breakes in two! How safe are those planes we ride everyday? http://l.yimg.com/bt/api/res/1.2/lFR...7067004e50.jpg
http://news.yahoo.com/cheers-screams...185128270.html GEORGETOWN, Guyana (AP) — Officials say a U.S. team is expected soon in the South American nation of Guyana to probe the crash of a Boeing 737 jetliner that all 163 people aboard survived. Authorities so far have given little idea about the cause of Saturday's crash. The Caribbean Airlines plane ran off the end of a runway at Guyana's main airport and broke in two. About 30 people had to be treated at a local hospital, including the pilot. The airline is largely owned by the government of Trinidad and Tobago and its prime minister has visited the crash site. Kamla Persad-Bissessar says she is worried that the accident will hurt tourism to the Caribbean, a region that depends heavily on the industry. |

Airplanes are not supposed to go on off runway excursions. Looks like the nose gear dug into the soft ground after running off the end of the runway. Pilot could have landed long and ran out of runway before being able to stop. Also throw in heavy rain and bad visibility. It’s hard to come to a sudden stop mid air unless you hit a mountain. Besides, it's a Boeing. I won't break up in the air unless helped by a bomb, missile or an unmaintained, aged and corroded airframe.

Then :shake: - close it with  - so the order of moods was already perfect. |
Those aircraft are so over engineered. I am a lead mechanic on the 737 line. Air traffic is by far the safest means of transportation.
|
It wouldn't have happened in mid-air without some cause, Frankie. That happened due to Newton's law.

I was once in a car crash and the car got broken too. Obviously I don't ride in cars anymore. I mean how safe are they?

I'm sure. Right Frankie? |
Hey that could happen if it ran off the runway at 30,000 feet, don't laugh.
|
yo frankie....where you at? is it safe to fly, or what?

I'm not sure how this has happened - take a look at the snapshot, it was 'state of the art'
|
Now that I look at the bigger picture, after clicking on the link, that had to be one hell of a rodeo, for the people seated by "the crack."

Southwest uses the 737 for most/all of thier flights, i'll never fly Southwest again.

Here's how strong these buggers are. This a wing-loading test of a 777. It survives until 154% of maximum design stress. <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Ai2HmvAXcU0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

Sorry but I have to say this...
Am I the only one who sees the irony in Frankie starting a thread about the structural integrity of the 737? Jack Bauer called, Frankie, and he would like to have a word with you. LMAO |

Only when they are cut in half by one of our missiles. |
There have been planes where part of the roof came off during flight. An Aloha Airlines flight had that happen.

This is why I don't fly Caribbean Airlines
Give me Delta, AA, or SW please. |

This incident brought about changes as to how often aging aircraft are inspected for metal fatigue and corrosion. Although it was catastrophic and one flight attendant died, the airplane held together and was able to land. BTW… this is the same basic airframe involved with Caribbean Airlines Flight 523 proving that it had an incident on the ground right after landing (the photo shows the engine thrust reversers still deployed as they would be after landing). |

Look, you made a rather humorous goof. Just laugh it off like the rest of us are. |
No, clearly Frankie is right. He found a small detail which aligns slightly with his agenda and now aircraft shred apart in mid-air for no reason at all other than because Frankie said so. The worlds-a-changin...

One of my all time favorite air accidents

As far as being wrong or right it seems that you guys are the ones so cocksure that a mechanical man-made object is totally indestructible. I am merely presenting the point that there is such a thing as human negligence when it comes to maintenance. |

LMAO I don't think you can outwit a tree stump, champ. |
I have a hemroid that I am fairly certain could beat Frankie at a game of boggle.
Yes, I'm saying a small piece of Phildo's ass could match wits with frankie. |
My buddy was pulling his bass boat down the highway at about 70 mph when it came off the trailer. It skidded wildly and flipped a couple of times and ended up down an embankment. He sent pictures to the manufacturer of the carnage because water is alot like asphalt and someone might drown.
