Alcohol Delivery Service.

As far as I know there are absolutely none of these in existence. Is there a reason why? I mean, how often have you guys ran out of alcohol and being the responsible individuals you all are decided not to go to the liquor store for more beer? An idea like this could be revolutionary. Although, I'm sure this concept has been thoroughly researched -- is there legal parameters I'm not familiar with?

Bring me a beer, bitch.

Alco-Haul opened up in Springfield in eye March or April

milkman 05-29-2011 10:07 PM

I would think the problem would be there are far more dumbass drinkers than responsible ones, so the service would be hard pressed to make a profit.

noa 05-29-2011 10:09 PM

I've had booze delivered before. But you had to order a certain amount. It was a liquor store in D.C. I think we ordered three bottles, one vodka, one whiskey, and one gin, and they delivered it a few hours later.

That's a valid point. I'm assuming these exist, however I've still not seen one. I guess another issue may be robberies -- as silly as that sounds.

A few hours later?? **** that noise. It's all about customer service. I can't wait a few hours to take that shot, or have that drink that puts me over the edge.

Preach it. Oh, and I will be delivering your case of Schlitz .....in a couple of hours.

Gadzooks 05-29-2011 10:18 PM

We need delivery because gravity is a bitch sometimes, (repost but topical):

This....

Alcohol by its nature makes people irresponsible.

While that is potentially true I would assume most of these alcohol delivery stores double as an actual liquore store.

T-Town 05-29-2011 10:26 PM

The pizza place by my school delivers cases of beer until 4am... Pretty quick too, about 25 minutes or so

Genius!!! I wonder if they charge a flat rate for delivery, or charge it based on mileage.

Flat rate. Their beer is usually a couple dollars higher per case than what you would pay at a carryout, and they only have the typical party beers (Bud Light, Keystone, etc...) but if you live around campus there is no additional delivery fee and it beats having someone make a drunken beer run.

Are they also an actual liquor store? I'm wondering how an actual liquor store + an alcohol delivery service wouldn't be profitable.

ChiefChick 05-29-2011 10:36 PM

My dad used to deliver alcohol at the beer store that he used to work at, but you could get it yourself if your not lazy. Its an awesome idea though.

Jewish Rabbi 05-29-2011 10:36 PM

Well, it's illegal in Iowa, so that may have something to do with it.

No they just serve beer and food. Liquor delivery would be the best idea ever. Order a large pepperoni pizza and bottle of rum.

That is why I'm just asking around. I've had the idea for a long while, was just unsure about potential legal issues.

Ceej 05-29-2011 10:40 PM

I would assume doubling as a liquor store while offering delivery would be a solid idea. If legal.

CrazyPhuD 05-29-2011 10:44 PM

Well hell it's safer than having the drive through liquor stores they have in a bunch of places. States should be encouraging delivery places. I know there are weed delivery services.

But I have a feeling that there's an insurance issue here too, you are probably WAY more likely to get robbed delivering alcohol than food.

Ceej 05-29-2011 10:48 PM

You know America's obesity rate is alarmingly high when they create drive throughs at liquor stores. I don't get the concept. But, the more I contemplate this idea the more I become intrigued.

To deliver alcohol at all in Iowa, you must have a wholesale liquor license, and even at that you can only deliver to places that have resale licenses (read: bars). Beer cannot be delivered except by state licesensed distributors (the guys driving around in Bud and Miller trucks).

bevischief 05-30-2011 10:36 AM

where is my 30 pack!

dj56dt58 05-30-2011 11:44 AM

illegal in mo, already tried

Beer profit margin is horrible. Liqour is not a lot better.

By the drink is completely the opposite. One bottle of cheap vodka can make around $120 each.

In Arkansas, you can even order a made alcoholic beverage at the drive-in. Margarita to go.

Dr. Johnny Fever 05-30-2011 12:13 PM

A friend of mine and I had this idea about a year ago and it didn't take long for legalities to shoot it down here in Illinois.

As a guy who installs flooring for a living your knowledge of alcohol margin concerns me. LMAO
