we put a deposit on this little guy last night. We were given a contact number by some friends. We called and made an appointment to just "go look"

Hubby picked the little guy up and he started sucking on his chin....we were taken.... put a deposit on him and we get to bring him home in August. He won't replace Max, but maybe he will heal the hole in our hearts...

We were in time going to get one the same color, but maybe its best we found one of a different color.

We get to go have a play date with him later this month. Got to come up with a name for him....maybe after the play date.

Cute dog.

Gracie Dean 07-07-2010 11:35 AM

He is only 2 weeks old but oh so cute. I held him almost an hour. The people own both the mom and dad. His grandpa is over 100 lbs. The daddy doted on the baby while he was in my lap. So gentle and loving. The dad also doted on the mom as well. So sweet.

Saulbadguy 07-07-2010 11:40 AM

You have to put a deposit down on a dog?

Usually when you're buying a dog from a breeder.....yes. It's because they can't come home with you at that time. You're basically saying that when it's available to leave....you want it.

Dayze 07-07-2010 11:44 AM

good lookin' hound.

Congrats.

Seems excessive/stupid.

Yep. I've bought 2 dogs from breeder's. Both times, I've dropped ~50% down. It covers their shots and maintenance until you pick them up (usually around 8 weeks).

tooge 07-07-2010 11:50 AM

cute little dude. You are screwed. You are gonna be wrapped around his paw in no time. Sucking on your hubbys chin? Heh. He owns you now.

Param 07-07-2010 11:54 AM

I use to have that sofa and got rid of it.

What? Putting down a deposit or paying a few hundred for a dog?

I admit that I didn't have to pay nearly as much for my 2 boxers as most on here. But if I ever have to get another one, I will be more than willing. Best dog breed I have ever had.

jAZ 07-07-2010 11:59 AM

Puppies are cute. Pound puppies are cuter and cheaper. :)

Simply Red 07-07-2010 11:59 AM

cool Pam, dogs rule, as do you.

Wow, over 100 lbs? That's huge for a boxer. And I thought my male being over 80 lbs was a lot.

Old Dog 07-07-2010 12:00 PM

Our new little guys daddy is close to 80 lbs and is solid Both mom and dad have a massive chest span and are both great looking dogs. She had 8 babies and dotes on them as does the daddy.

I will always miss Max, but this new little guy is too cute

Param 07-07-2010 12:07 PM

Oh and if I get another dog one day, I will make sure my floor is tile.

It is standard

it is like a place holder so that no one else can get him.

Reaper16 07-07-2010 04:34 PM

Noswad really needs a Facebook account.

bevischief 07-07-2010 04:40 PM

Puppies are fine as long as you have time to train them 24/7 for the first few months. Good looking dog.

I can't wait. Wish I could have him now, but he is only 3 weeks... it is hard to believe he will be 10 lbs or so by the time we get him...

Lumpy 07-07-2010 08:49 PM

Adorable puppy! Congrats! :D

It looks like we're getting a Brittany pup next Spring, (if breeding schedule goes according to plan). There is no feeling like holding a little pup and hearing their soft whines!

sparkky 07-08-2010 08:32 AM

congrats!!!

there's no love like a dogs love, it's constant and unconditional.

Skyy God 07-08-2010 10:03 AM

He's adorable.

You inspired me to stop and try to help a German Shorthaired Pointer last night that was running loose on the way to trivia. There was no id, and the pound wasn't close at all, so I let him/her go.

I thought it looks malnourished but, looking at breed pics, those are pretty skinny dogs.

jspchief 07-08-2010 10:07 AM

Awesome. I can't wait for the tri-weekly threads on every mundane aspect of your and the dog's life.

Bird dog or house dog? Brittany’s work well for both.

Well, our last Brittany was taken out to hunt only a few times. She did ok, but it really wasn't her thing. She was more obsessed w/ playing ball and lounging around the house instead of retrieving a bird. She was by far the most intelligent, loving dog I have ever met. She had heart issues and we had to put her down last year. :(

Our next Brittany though, will more than likely go hunting a lot w/ Gonzo.

As one of the CHARTER members, you need to get a personality!!

it is the off season, and I needed to share with my friends, many of which I have met in person.

So in the words of Cheney GFY

I have 4 threads in the last 2 weeks. This hit me hard and I needed to share.

Gracie Dean 07-08-2010 02:24 PM

owners of the mom and pop sent more picts.

A week ago, we loaded up our Jeep for a fun filled weekend. Who knew that 12 hours later it would be the worst day ever.

The owners of the mama and daddy Boxer of our new little guy must have felt something as they sent a short email saying our little guy is growing and getting active. Tried to crawl out of the whleping box :)
