Seattle is absolutely slaying the draft

Since we're apparently not allowed to question the Executive of the Decade, I thought I'd talk about some of the winners this far in the draft.

Seattle, by a large margin, has won the draft. They've turned their picks into this:

Okung
Earl Thomas
Golden Tate
Walter Thurmond III
EJ Wilson
Cam Chancellor
Lendale White
Kevin Vickerson
Leon Washington
Anthony McCoy

Apparently, Pete Carrol didn't need an evaluation year to improve his football team. And he still has picks to work with.

Philly is killing it as well.

Brandon Graham
Nate Allen
Daniel Te'o-Nesheim
Trevard Lindley
Keenan Clayton
Mike Kafka
Clay Harbor
Ricky Sapp
Riley Cooper

And they have picks left as well.

HemiEd 04-24-2010 11:20 AM

The Chiefs won the draft two years ago.

The Franchise 04-24-2010 11:21 AM

****....they got Lendale White for a SWAP of 4th and 6th round picks. They didn't even have to give a pick up for him.

And if Pioli hadn't come along to kill the value of that draft, it would be ready to really pay dividends this year.

Deberg_1990 04-24-2010 12:27 PM

ill let you know in 2 or 3 years if they slayed it or not....

Mr. Flopnuts 04-24-2010 12:27 PM

Yeah. I've been saying on my facebook page how great Seattle's draft has been. I'm excited about the direction they're heading in.

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-24-2010 12:27 PM

Oakland has done very well, as has Detroit, and of course, Baltimore.

Detroit got Jason Fox, who I think can play LT for them.

You know I've been pimping Fox for months.

Lions are going to start rising.

Mr. Flopnuts 04-24-2010 12:30 PM

I was scratching my head over Detroit not getting an OT earlier, but they apparently knew exactly what they were doing. Mayhew is not ****ing around.

Give the Lions our schedule, and they make the playoffs, IMO.

Deberg_1990 04-24-2010 12:31 PM

I often wonder if on some random Seattle/Rams/Detroit/Bucs board there is a thread called:

Kansas City is absolutely slaying the draft

With about about 3000 other threads complaing about how their team blew the draft??

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-24-2010 12:32 PM

The Fox selection makes the Best selection much, much better.

I think that they now have every piece, save for a shut down corner and a true terror off the edge.

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-24-2010 12:35 PM

Oakland is a sleeper in this division next year.

Reaper16 04-24-2010 12:35 PM

The rest NFC West should be scared to death if they think Carrol can coach well.

L.A. Chieffan 04-24-2010 12:37 PM

Pete is just building his squad like a college all-star team. im still scratchin my head over whitehurst but DAMN

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-24-2010 12:38 PM

I'll say it again:

There's nothing more important in personnel than common ****ing sense.

Pioli has way too much Tony LaRussa in him.

RustShack 04-24-2010 12:51 PM

Because of their Draft Picks?

I'd give them 2 years and if some of their picks work out I would make that statement.

Very few draft picks make a big difference on their team year 1.

Because of their last two drafts and offseason moves.

I think that Best, Suh, and Fox will all be Day 1 starters for them.

Add in Corey Williams, Rob Sims, Nate Burleson, another year of maturation for Stafford, and wow.

Drafting smart the last two years is going to pay huge dividends in the upcoming years.

Once they got off their WR fetish and drafted a possible franchise QB they finally got going the right direction.

The Sims trade is still mind-numbing, though.

Mr. Flopnuts 04-24-2010 01:01 PM

People will call Suh a bust after his first year. Nobody seems to understand that DT's take a couple of years to adjust to the NFL.

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-24-2010 01:03 PM

Had we followed Detroit's pattern:

Mark Sanchez
Rey Maualuga
Antoine Caldwell
Sammie Lee Hill
Jamon Meredith
Cary Harris
Dannell Ellerbe

Eric Berry
Taylor Mays
Golden Tate
Damien Williams
Everson Griffen
Ricky Sapp
Cam Thomas

Gives you the following depth chart

QB: Sanchez
RB: Charles
WR 1: Bowe
WR 2: Williams
Slot: Tate
TE: Cottam
LT: Albert
LG: Waters
C: Caldwell
RG: Lilja
RT: Meredith

RDE: Griffen (Sapp)
3T: Dorsey
NT: Hill (Thomas)
LDE: Hali (Sapp)

WLB: Johnson
MLB: Brinkley (Ellerbe)
SLB: Maualuga

CB: Flowers
CB: Carr
Nickel: Harris
FS: Berry
SS: Mays

It would be interesting to see Halfwit type posts on a Lions board about Suh.

Jesus, that is just painful to see.

That list makes me want to cry.

:banghead:

I'm speechless.

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-24-2010 01:07 PM

Yeah, but Scott Pioli knows what he's doing because he's an NFL GM.

Like Matt Millen.

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-24-2010 01:07 PM

I'd also like to add that we were all championing those players before the '09 and '10 drafts. This isn't a Dexter McCluster situation.

JFC

Well, if he gets all-pros at 5-6 positions, they should be able to field a competitive defense.

****her as a stand alone guy asked to run things on defense is epic fail.

However, with a solid defensive mind in charge of things, as they have in Jim Shwartz, he isn't the huge liability that he was with the Chiefs under Dick and Herman ****ing Edwards.

He's a decent puppet.

Just don't remove the strings.

milkman 04-24-2010 01:21 PM

As for Shwartz, he's true to his word.

Talent
Talent
Talent

And he and Mayhew have gotten great value, while actually filling holes.

I'm just wondering why Schwartz and Carroll didn't need an evaluation year to improve their roster through the draft and FA.

Because they forgot to follow the process and look for the right 53.

Overall wins up by 2...with a ridonkulously talented WR and QBOTF...just like the Chiefs.

I have plucked my hair. I am actually wearing a wig right now because I don't ****ing understand why we didn't go for a NT or a WR.

For the TE reach, i started pulling my butt hair.

Ming the Merciless 04-24-2010 02:47 PM

I agree...Okung / Thomas and Tate is a pretty nice 1,2,3 punch ...And that isn't even including the rest of their pickups....Each of their 1st three picks was a dagger in my heart.

L.A. Chieffan 04-24-2010 02:58 PM
