****Official 2010 ChiefsPlanet Mock Draft Thread****
Welcome to the 2010 ChiefsPlanet Mock Draft.
We have some new owners this year, so here's a quick run-down on the rules. Each team will have 24 hours from the timestamp of the previous pick to make their selection. If your pick is not made within 24 hours, the next owner is free to make their selection. The draft order is now final, with the exception of possible compensatory picks. As in past years, if the NFL announces an official list of compensatory picks BEFORE we finish the 3rd round, I'll add them in. If not, the draft order currently listed will remain. Any trades made in real life will NOT change the mock order from this moment on - personally, it's just too much work, and you run the risk of a pick being traded in real life after it's been made here in the mock. If you think there is any chance you'll miss your pick, please try to send me a PM with a prioritized list of players - I'll select the highest priority player available from your list to keep things moving. Please try to check in at least once a day, if not several times daily. We've never had an issue finishing 7 rounds in 6 weeks and I don't expect to have a problem this year - but it's up to you guys as owners to stay current. When making your selection, please post the name, position and school of the player (follow Hamas' lead, he knows the drill - the correct format helps greatly when updating the header) and give a quick blurb about why you selected that particular player. Doesn't have to be a novel. I'll be in class from 11:00 - 2:00, but I'll log back in to put Hamas on the clock at Noon. Have fun fellas. Round 1 1 RAMS (Hamas Jenkins) Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame 2 LIONS (Sfeihc) Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma State 3 BUCCANEERS (Archie Bunker) Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska 4 REDSKINS (Mecca) Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma 5 CHIEFS (OnTheWarpath58) Eric Berry, FS, Tennessee 6 SEAHAWKS (Mr. Flopnuts) Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma 7 BROWNS (billay) C.J. FYI.
I'm generally on and checking CP from 8AM -5PM PST. If you are going to miss your pick during those times.....feel free to shoot me a PM and I'll make your pick for you. |
Welcome to the 2010 ChiefsPlanet Mock Draft.
The St. Louis Rams are on the clock. |
:):)Let's get this party started!:):)
OTW, since the Chiefs likely won't make much of a splash in FA that puts the pressure of hitting on their draft picks. I'm very interested to see how you use them. I believe that if the Chiefs take the right players at the right spots in this draft that it could serve as the foundation of a championship quality roster. |

Yikes!
|
Any guesses on who he picks? I say Bradford or Suh.
|
Bradford, Suh, McCoy in that order would be my guess. Jake Locker screwed him.

I believe you've said the same thing about Bradford, but now you believe he'll go number one overall? ROFL |

Just a hunch. My bet: Clausen. If you don't have a franchise QB, you don't pass on one. Golden rule #1 (for everyone except the Chiefs, apparently). |
Quote:
I keep thinking of Hamas in a cold sweat, knowing he has to select Bradford.:DROFL |
Quote:
If I'm confident this is a yes/yes, I'd have no problem selecting him. I think his accuracy is, overall, far better than he's often given credit for on this forum, and I'm exactly his biggest fan. No pun intended BigChiefFan. |
I type this as a man unsure of his selection. One the one hand, 2011 is shaping up to be a very good quarterback class. Additionally, 2010 offers two of the best interior DL prospects in recent NFL history, including one who is the best pure prospect that I can remember. On the other hand, the golden rule of the draft is that if you don’t have a franchise QB then you don’t pass on one.
The Rams don’t have a franchise QB. I’m not sure they have a franchise LT or a DE, either. The last two years they went the safe route and neither one of those picks is looking anything more than average (to terrible) at this juncture. Jimmy Clausen has a lot of concerns. I’m not sure about his mental makeup, and although he has the raw physical tools, he doesn’t have jaw dropping natural gifts. He’s not Matt Stafford, but he also showed significant development in decision making, accuracy, and he comes from a pro-style offense, which makes his learning curve significantly lower than that of other QBs. I know that if I wait to draft Blaine Gabbert or Jake Locker or Matt Barkley (2012) that I would be getting a prospect with more raw talent. What I don’t know is whether or not some of them will continue to improve (Barkley) will overcome their scheme (Gabbert) or will put their physical tools together. I also know that if I skip on a QB here, there is a chance I may not be in position to select another next year (however remote). Ultimately, although Suh is the better player, I think Jimmy Clausen and Michael Floyd/A.J. Green/Julio Jones makes me better than Ndamukong Suh and the 2011 first rounder, especially since Suh is a power 2-gapper, not a Warren Sapp penetrator. A Clausen in hand is worth a Locker in the bush. <o></o> The St. Louis Rams select James F. Clausen, QB, Notre Dame<o></o> And I’m not entirely sure I made the right decision. The Shitroit Lions are on the clock. |
Well...way to screw up my draft. You asshole.
|
that's the right pick
let's get it on! |

Dammit Hamas we'll never get rid of Cassel now.
|
This was an easy pick until the Lions traded for Corey Williams. Williams added to Sammie Hill and Andre Fluellen, each with a year's experience is a huge upgrade for the Lions at DT.
Trying to draft a quality starting LT later in the draft is much more difficult than it sounds. It would be easy to add Suh or McCoy. However, I've been against the thought of Backus as a starting LT since Millen drafted him as his first first round mistake. It's time to correct that mistake. With an already improved defensive line and the ability to improve two positions on the OL with one pick it leaves only one player as the choice with the second pick. The Detroit Lions select from Oklahoma State University offensive tackle Russell Okung. |

The Redskins are ****ed yet again.
|
****ing shit. Hamas just ruined the draft.
|
I think the Lions will take a DT. Having a front row seat for the train wreck that has been the Lions for the last decade, this needed to be done. (Taking Okung)

I say that to my Lion buddies nearly every day.
|
McCoy is the pick for the Bucs and the Tampa 2, right?
|
Quote:
|
Suh all the way to 6? What a ****ing joke that would be.
|
It would seem as though there are several scenarios in which the Chiefs could receive several nice offers for the fifth pick. Especially if a team is after a DT or QB still on the board?
|
Good to see the draft is ruined. Now nobody can blame me for ****ing it up.
Here's something to consider, though. What's to stop the Redskins from taking Suh if the Bucs take McCoy? They're not exactly loaded, are they? |
Quote:
|
What would Suh and Dorsey be like, paired next to each other in a 43?
|
If the Chiefs were smart and Suh fell to five, they'd just draft the sonofabitch, move to a 4-3, and have a line of
RDE: Hali 3T: Dorsey NT: Suh LDE: Jackson. |

What would the LBs look like? Would you keep DJ in the middle? Or would you move to the outside?

This was a pretty hard decision for me to be honest. I love me a safety that can take over a game and Berry is that type of guy, but at the same time I'm starring at 2 of the best DT prospects in years with a team with that is desperate for a monster in the middle. So with that in mind.....
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska While it is debatable whether Suh or McCoy is the better fit for Tampa, there was just no way I could pass on Suh. I've watched him rape lineman and take over games too many times to be the guy that passes on him for another DT. |
Paging Mecca. Paging Mecca.
Bruce Campbell is ready to be picked up at the front of the store. |
Crisis averted. Thank you.
|
Suhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
|
Interesting start!
|
I wouldn't have took Okungshit for Detroit but other than McCoy not being in the top 3, looks about right.
|
It's now or never to build a line to protect Stafford. I don't know why they didn't take Oher last year over Pettigrew?
|
Quote:
|
Okung is a pretty good move for Detroit. I concur, that it's time to protect their investment.
|
Will the Skins take McCoy to play the 5-technique? Is mecca stuck in a Piloi-like pickle or does Bradford find a home?
|
Well, ****.
I know it's early, but I'm starting to wonder if we're going to finish this ****er this year. I don't think it's ever taken this long to get the first 3 picks. Usually the first round flies by in like two days, setting the tone. We gotta pick it up, fellas. We've known the date for months. |

I'll check in first thing in the AM, and hopefully be making a selection. |

Honestly.....I'm fine with 24 hours for the 1st round and then cutting this shit down after the 1st round is over.
|
I've got 3 guys in my mind, all 3 would be huge boons to the Seahawks, and I have no idea which one I'd rather have over the others. That's a pretty good problem to have.
|
JFC Mecca.......I know it's not what you want to do....but get your ass in here and either draft Sam Bradford or an OT. Quit pouting....
|
Quote:
|
Well....he's got 5 hours to go before he gets skipped.....so we'll see. Hopefully this thing starts to ****ing fly after his pick is done.
|
This is rather unmecca-like. I hope he is okay.

Quote:

Maybe he was wanting Okung at 4 all along? I've read three different mocks that were published today that now have Okung going to Detroit.

combing your hair requires complete concentration

Wow, this is going at a snail's pace now. Thanks, Mecca.

I wasn't in this last year, but didn't Mecca do the same thing last year too?

I don't know this for sure, but I think he met a girl. That would explain it.

Mecca took roughly 13 hours to make his pick in last years draft.

If this was someone like Hootie who did this, and had done it multiple times, he would be crucified by most of the people in this thing.
