Cute.

It's kind of fun to see kansas fans excited about football...

That said, Missouri will beat kansas in Arrowhead. It'll be close... well, unless kU's game plan is to blitz Daniel again.

Hey they just won the MAC during OOC give them a break. :p

duncan_idaho 09-24-2007 11:54 AM

I actually like it (wasn't being sarcastic)... it will make it even sweeter when we beat them in November.

Thats true.

duncan_idaho 09-24-2007 01:48 PM

Mark Mangino doesn't take baby steps... he just takes babies... and eats them.

Saulbadguy 09-24-2007 01:52 PM

I'll admit, KU has looked dominant in the 4 games they've played, even though none of them really have a pulse.

Central Michigan lost to FCS school North Dakota State by 30 points...at home.

SE Louisana is a terrible FCS school who only has 1 win, vs a Division 2 team.

Toledo did beat Iowa State at home, but got pounded by Central Michigan.

FIU is 0-4, but did play Miami *sort of* close.

But, even with crappy teams like that its tough to score 50+ points. I would not be shocked to see KU beat K-State in Manhattan.

Mr. Plow 09-24-2007 02:04 PM

I'm just happy to see KU being consistent. Beating teams handily that they are supposed to beat. Not struggling to beat them....or losing to them.

carter08 09-24-2007 02:08 PM

KU has a football team?

HonestChieffan 09-24-2007 02:21 PM

MUs fall from grace will start soon

All the MU and KSU fans can say what they want, but here is I said about this in another thread. http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=170725

Keep in mind that Purdue is ranked #25 in the coaches poll.

Central Michigan lost to Purdue, but the score wasn't nearly as big a margin as KU's.

CMU @ Purdue 22-45 L = 23 point margin

CMU @ Kansas 7-52 L = 45 point margin

Toledo also played Purdue

Purdue @ Toledo 52-24 L = 28 point margin

Toledo @ Kansas 13-45 L = 32 point margin

As of now, that is the only thing that we can use to compare. I guess we'll truly know once the Big 12 season starts.

Saulbadguy 09-24-2007 02:34 PM

NDSU @ CMU = 44-13. So, is KU just slightly better than NDSU? It works both ways, shouldn't it?

I disagree about the "years past teams wouldn't do this".

2004 - Pounded the 2 patsies at home, of course lost the road game because Mangino can't coach on the road.
9/4 vs. Tulsa (4-8) W 21 3
9/11 vs. Toledo (9-4) W 63 14
9/18 @ Northwestern (6-6) L 17 20

2005 - Pasted all 3 patsies
9/3 vs. Florida Atlantic (2-9) W 30 19
9/10 vs. Appalachian State (non-IA) W 36 8
9/17 vs. Louisiana Tech (7-4) W 34 14

I won't say KU is bad, I haven't seen them play, and they are winning in convincing fashions. KSU isn't doing that.

Lzen 09-24-2007 02:39 PM

Saul, with the exception of the Toledo game in 2004, none of those games were complete obliteration of the opponents like all of the non conference games this year.

The opponents were of a higher quality as well, as seen from their results. App State was the national champs of the FCS that year.

Once again, I feel this year's team is better than those teams. However, we won't truly know until they get into conference play. I do believe the defense has matured and improved from last year's defense. Add to that the fact that Reesing could be the most solid QB they have had since Bill Whittemore and you have the makings of a good team. Will Mangino finally figure out how to win some B12 road games? Will his team win enough games to leave no doubt in the minds of the bowl selection people? Who knows? Stay tuned.

Spott 09-24-2007 02:56 PM

Should be a good weekend for college football. That's the same weekend as the UF/LSU game.

The QB def. looks better than any you've had since Brittlemore. I said all along Reesing should start over Meier. I think the defense this year isn't as strong as 2005, especially w/ the pass rush.

IMO, it will be the best weekend of college football.

Florida @ LSU
Oklahoma @ Texas
Georgia @ Tennessee
Nebraska @ Mizzou
Kansas @ K-State
Va Tech @ Clemson
Okie St @ A&M
Cincinnati @ Rutgers
Iowa @ Penn St
Notre Lame @ UCLA (snoozer)

also, on Thursday - Kentucky @ South Carolina
and on Friday - Utah @ Louisville

Who knows? You may be right. That 2005 defense will be extremely difficult to top.

Week 9 is pretty good too:

Florida/Georgia
USC @ Oregon
WVU @ Rutgers
South Carolina @ Tennessee
Nebraska @ Texas
Ohio State @ Penn St
Kansas @ A&M
