I think everyone is welcome to enjoy weird shit that they find fun. All I am saying is that if you are going to make fun of someone that likes something that you think is ridiculous you would be better served to not have a completely ridiculous and silly hobby yourself. If the Big 12 extended an invitation to Boise State, BYU, and TCU they would surely all come wouldn't they? I don't see why you don't do that at this point or just blow it all up.

Boise State would look terrible for switching conference twice is such a short time period. TCU - Why would we want them? |
Quote:
|
Texas, Missouri, Kansas, etc would throw a fit over Boise State's academics as well.
|
I do not see TCU leaving....First off, why would they want to compete with the UT BS? I know there are dollar bills involved, but they are already in a BCS conference that is rather weak in football and they can easily be top dogs. If they jump to the Big 12 that won't be the case.

Houston, BYU, would be decent options.....maybe Louisville, but I do not think any of them except for Houston would bolt. The conference doesn't look that stable.

BYU New Mexico TCU/Houston/SMU New Mexico sounds weird, but it's a growing state with big-time basketball already on board (which shows the AD can commit to sports). Keeps the "geographical continuity." Adds TV sets (BYU and New Mexico) and some national fanbase (BYU). I also could see them sticking with just BYU. |
why would we want another Texas school?
we want to expand our markets and we have plenty of schools from Texas already. BYU,Notre Dame,Arkansas,Boise State etc Heck even Colorado State would be better than another Texas school imo. |
No more Texas schools.
|
Its going to be ND and BYU. The other school will come from the Big East, or their fall back option could be another Texas school after aTm leaves.. but I'm pulling for a BigE school. I've been saying it and saying it. ND and BYU are coming.
|
The only complication is that ND and BYU might be football only for the first few years.

I thought Willie was a Hawk? In which case it would not be funny. Though if he is B10 why he should give a crap if ND goes B12 I don't know, unless he wants them for B10. |

he doesn't care about Notre Dame imo he is just arguing the point that ND won't join the Big 12 |

Notre Dame joining the Big 12 would probably be the most shocking thing to happen in sports in the last 10 years. There's just no way. It'd be like the Yankees moving to the NL Central. They already make a bazillion dollars a year off football, have a following from coast to coast, every game is nationally televised, and they could probably join any conference they want. Why on earth would they agree to become a slave to Texas...

Latest update from Chip Brown:
http://texas.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1258387 I can't stop laughing at the thought of Texas fans not being able to watch their first two games on TV. If Va Tech is the 14th SEC team, that keeps the dominoes falling. The ACC would need to replace them - do they look to the Big East? If so, do they try to expand to 14 to maintain strength in the conference and match the SEC? If so, does that dismantle the Big East AND provide the catalyst for ND to finally join a conference? Where do the other Big East teams go? Big 12? Big Ten? All I know is I'm waiting for LiveSteam's opinion, and then assuming the opposite. |

I'd trade Texas A&M for BYU in a heartbeat. A team that actually wins bowl games and much better basketball program. Very nice. |

Texas A&M notifies the Big 12 it is leaving next June
By Erick Smith, USA TODAY Updated Texas A&M announced Wednesday it has notified the Big 12 Conference of its intention to leave the league next June. http://i.usatoday.net/communitymanag...-community.jpg In a release on its website, the school said it will seek membership in another conference, which is expected to be the Southeastern Conference. "After much thought and consideration, and pursuant to the action of the (Texas A&M University System) Board of Regents authorizing me to take action related to Texas A&M University's athletic conference alignment, I have determined it is in the best interest of Texas A&M to make application to join another athletic conference," President R. Bowen Loftin wrote to Big 12 Commissioner Dan Beebe in the letter dated August 31, 2011. "We appreciate the Big 12's willingness to engage in a dialogue to end our relationship through a mutually agreeable settlement," Loftin added. "We, too, desire that this process be as amicable and prompt as possible and result in a resolution of all outstanding issues, including mutual waivers by Texas A&M and the conference on behalf of all the remaining members."School spokesman Jason Cook said on Twitter that A&M would have no formal press conference Wednesday regarding the statement. Texas A&M was a member of the Southwest Conference until that league broke up and four schools moved to the Big 12 in 1996. Its announcement Wednesday comes on the 15th anniversary of the first Big 12 football game played between Kansas State and Texas Tech in Manhattan. Now the Aggies will leaving their traditional rivalries with Texas, Texas Tech and Baylor behind as it likely moves East to the SEC. "As I have indicated throughout this process, we are seeking to generate greater visibility nationwide for Texas A&M and our championship-caliber student-athletes, as well as secure the necessary and stable financial resources to support our athletic and academic programs," Loftin said. "This is a 100-year decision that we have addressed carefully and methodically. Texas A&M is an extraordinary institution, and we look forward to what the future may hold for Aggies worldwide."Texas A&M is facing a significant loss of revenue when it leaves the Big 12. Nebraska's departure to the Big Ten cost the school more than $9 million and Colorado gave up more than $6 million to join the Pac-12. A&M's penalty likely will be stiffer because the 10 schools in the league agreed to $1 billion television deal with Fox last April |
So A&M is leaving in part to "secure the necessary and stable financial resources to support our athletic and academic programs," yet "Texas A&M is facing a significant loss of revenue when it leaves the Big 12."
ATM, NU & Colorado didn't all leave because they wanted to lose $ did they? |
A&M is the new Arkansas. Meet the proverbial bonfire that is the SEC, aggy.

Seriously though, any idea why that article states ATM, NY and CU lost money by leaving B12? Is that immediate term due to buy-outs? |
Nebraska loses money in the short term. They won't get a full share of the 23 million until 2017.

I think the money situation for the Big 12 is fine ... better than it's ever been. I just think the schools don't trust each other anymore and think the conference is going to implode. Nobody trusts Texas tbh. |
