Just sayin'.

That's great - just don't make the mistake of comparing all blitz schemes to what Spagnuolo does.

It's a whole different language. Just ask Lamar.

We had Baltimore fans here telling us two weeks ago how good Lamar was against the blitz. They had stats and numbers and felt good about themselves. He then proceeded to piss down his leg over and over again against our pressure.

Not all blitzes are created equal.

Mmmhmmm.

It's not as simple as "against the blitz". The schematics around the blitz, timing of when to use it and most importantly, the ability for the coverage to hold up on the back end. All of which the Chiefs are special in.

It just aint the same.

I watched his 5 INTs against Baltimore:

2 were WR tips, ala Tyreek/Toney
1 was due to him getting hit while throwing
2 were legitimately bad interceptions, although 1 was in the last minute/garbage time.

And you have the typical insane conspiracy theory stuff out there. AFC was the road team last year and home team this year. It’s just basic NFL policy for the Super Bowl, but the morons always see a conspiracy.

Glad you said that - this is how I've been trying to summarize my offseason outlook for free agency plans on defense.

I will always be a trenches first type of guy when it comes to team building, but taking all factors into consideration - age of players, Spags' scheme, etc - you keep Sneed so this secondary stays together. The skill sets and versatility allow Spags to match up against any offense they could possibly face. The Week 1 Lions game without Jones wasn't perfect, but it was a pretty darn good glimpse at how well the defense can function when the defensive backs alone are doing the heavy lifting. Still need to add some replacement talent on the DL to take it up a notch or two from that game.

Even without CJ, Spags will be able to do all the crazy shit he loves to implement as long as you hold the primary pieces of that secondary again. Attack DL in the draft and with short term signings.

The ONLY team that has had a lead on us this postseason was a team with a ****ing alien at QB.

Purdy is a puny human.

Sam Darnold threw the 5th one

Interesting. Sounds like they're all his fault to me.

Lamar Jackson also had a very high passer rating against the blitz. Mina Kimes was bragging about it on ESPN before the Chiefs played Baltimore. Spags is one of the more creative DC’s out there. Lamar struggled with it, and was fortunate to avoid a couple more turnovers in that game.
