I don't think I will ever get used to calling them the Commanders.

Marcellus 12-29-2024 07:40 PM

That’s an awful penalty

FloridaMan88 12-29-2024 07:41 PM

Brutal penalty. Like a turnover.

Yeah, but it is the NFL, weird crap can happen. The light switch could flip for Penix in this game. I wouldn't hold my breath, but it's possible. Or, Dan Quinn's defense could just crap themselves in the 2nd half. And we've seen that happen more than once.

I compare him to Cousins\Purdy..similar QB's like that in that you have to surround them with above -average\elite talent for them to be successful. Take that away then they suck kind of like Purdy did this year. We all lived this experience recently with Alex.

We definitely wouldn't be 15-1 with Darnold as our QB, probably more like 10-6 or worse.

For a minute it seemed like the new owner was going to change it. He at least used to never wear any gear that said Commanders. Wonder if the league tried to stop another name change.

Easy 6 12-29-2024 07:45 PM

Garbage call wow, you can't force someone out of bounds when they're already playing out of bounds

Chieftain 12-29-2024 07:48 PM

Daniels is easily the best QB from this draft class. His combination of size, arm strength, poise and just enough mobility make him a top calibre starting QB.

pugsnotdrugs19 12-29-2024 07:49 PM

So I’m just getting back into the thread and I’m sure someone has brought it up…. But Dan Campbell has to sit his guys tomorrow, yeah?

I know he won’t cause it would be the smart thing, but he should.

Purdy is much more reliant on his surrounding talent than either Cousins or Darnold, imo. Darnold just needed good coaching, more than anything.

I mean, yeah, Darnold wouldn't have led KC to 15 Ws this season, but with Andy coaching him, manufacturing touches for Worthy, DHop, Travis and Hunt, he would've been able to do at least as well as Alex's 10 Ws/season, more than likely.

tk13 12-29-2024 07:50 PM

Thought we were about to have a Theismann moment there.

Megatron96 12-29-2024 07:50 PM

Woof, ugly sack.

Literally just came here to pose the same question. That would be murderous for fantasy football.

chiefzilla1501 12-29-2024 08:04 PM

I'm all about Andy Reid getting coach of the year. But man, I think KOC has earned the hell out of that award.

No, because Darnold is significantly more accurate downfield than Purdy. That's what you're missing.

Purdy's efficiency was completely supported by the fact that CMC is Marshall Fualk. A RB that can run the entire route tree, run option routes, hots, etc. And since he mostly lines up in the backfield or the slot, he's not coverable by any LB/S. So he's open immediately every single time, within 10 yds of the LoS.

Without CMC, Purdy had to try and force passes beyond the sticks, and every defense sat on the sticks this season when they figured out Purdy couldn't throw deeper with any consistency. Purdy is just a more durable version of Tua.

Darnold can throw accurately and with velocity much farther than Prudy, so he'd still be effective without JJ, just not quite as efficiently. But the plays would still be there, and Darnold could still make the throws.

I should have my championship locked up regardless with Gibbs set to play, but I picked up Craig Reynolds to be safe.

Megatron96 12-29-2024 08:08 PM

Dammit, Jayden. Can't do that.

Not with our tackle situation IMO. Not sure he would’ve made it through the season since he is a statue. Pat saved so many plays with his legs.

I will give Purdue credit at least he made it to the SB but I wouldn’t give him or Darnold a $50 million/ yr contract.

rfaulk34 12-29-2024 08:15 PM

Penix or Nix. Who's better?

dirk digler 12-29-2024 08:17 PM

Nice drive Falcons

Easy 6 12-29-2024 08:17 PM

Atlanta isn't playing

wazu 12-29-2024 08:18 PM

Don't think I've ever seen that happen at the goal line.

Oh, I wouldn't give Darnold $50M/yr either.

But he is more mobile than Cousins, and it's not close. And I'm referencing Cousins before the injury.

Minn will have an issue when McCarthy is ready next year. Sounds like they want both on the team.

I'd keep Darnold for at least another season, maybe two. Give him a similar deal to what Baker/Geno got (3yrs/$90-$100M).

FloridaMan88 12-29-2024 08:35 PM

McCarthy on a rookie contract… Minnesota can afford to resign Darnold to a short term deal/franchise tag to see if he’s more than a one year wonder.

KC_Connection 12-29-2024 08:38 PM

Do you think the Falcons coach is aware they have 3 timeouts

FloridaMan88 12-29-2024 08:38 PM

Not a master class in clock management.

jerryaldini 12-29-2024 08:50 PM

Bijan 82 yards at the half. He's fun to watch.

jerryaldini 12-29-2024 08:58 PM

That's the same hold they called on Taylor against Watt. I'd like to see holding be a 5 yard penalty only because it's so arbitrary and unfairly kills drives so often.

siberian khatru 12-29-2024 08:58 PM

Good God, what a bailout

Clyde Frog 12-29-2024 09:02 PM

The tackling and angles the defenders are taking for ATL is atrocious.

Hey, but the game is close. #HighQualityShit

Pepe Silvia 12-29-2024 09:41 PM

Penix will drive and then throw a red zone pick.

pugsnotdrugs19 12-29-2024 09:49 PM

This is going best case… I don’t need to see Atlanta in a playoff game

wazu 12-29-2024 09:57 PM

Falcons need lots of Bijan here.

jerryaldini 12-29-2024 09:58 PM

Nice throw!

FloridaMan88 12-29-2024 09:59 PM

Penix has that ugly lefty delivery… like Tua.

And there's the killer hold. That's not holding!!! This ruins these games. Make it 5 yards

Same with PI, it should be 15 yards.

kjwood75nro 12-29-2024 10:02 PM

It's pretty bad when the rules analyst can't sign off on the holding calls.

jerryaldini 12-29-2024 10:02 PM

Huge!

tk13 12-29-2024 10:03 PM

Clutch.

Mecca 12-29-2024 10:03 PM

Kyle Pitts is a total bust and you isolate him on 3rd down why?

Frazod 12-29-2024 10:03 PM

Damn, this is a good game.

FloridaMan88 12-29-2024 10:03 PM

Great route by London.

scho63 12-29-2024 10:03 PM

Great game so far

jerryaldini 12-29-2024 10:04 PM

Throw it!

Mecca 12-29-2024 10:04 PM

tk13 12-29-2024 10:05 PM

Somebody somewhere is going to lose their fantasy championship on that.

Gary Cooper 12-29-2024 10:06 PM

What happens if the RB threw the ball after picking it up there? Is that a penalty?

Megatron96 12-29-2024 10:06 PM

I wonder what the O/U was. That play right there might've been interesting if I'd bet on it. Maybe a few thousand bettors losing their minds right now, lol.
