Does this mean signing him long-term is not an option?

Does that mean that we cannot revoke the franchise tag at any point, now?

They have like 4 months to work out a long term deal. Franchise tag is dead once signed

The Chiefs could rescind the offer at any time up til he signed it. It makes sense that he waited to see what Long would get before locking up the guarantee.
