It’s weird being on the same side as King and OxyContin.city.

We won the SB last year after trading Hill, but let’s not forget we didn’t dominate at any point of the season. Lose a couple pieces and things can change.

But he’s coming so who cares (for now)!

We won the Superbowl, but we didn't dominate.

Do you hear yourself?

W is a W. By one point, or by 40 points.

31 other teams would LOVE to have our Lombardi that we won not dominating at any point.

Huh? Did we roll over teams in the regular season? Did we clearly outclass the Bengals and Eagles?

We could easily be sitting here bemoaning another season where we didn’t win a SB in the Mahomes window. I’m well ****ing aware how lucky we are, but get some perspective if you actually think we steamrolled the league last year and there weren’t the requisite moments of luck necessary to achieve that.

Do you hear what I’m saying?

Well yeah. That's the same argument, or maybe worry is more appropriate, I have when people say we won last season without a WR1.

Yes, I get it. We have Patrick Mahomes. You wanna know what pairs really really well with Patrick Mahomes? A defense that allows under 24 pts. Since he's been starter, so including games where he didn't play and including the playoffs we are 46-2 when the D holds the opponent to 23 or less points. Our only losses were against the Colts.

Now when the D allows 24+ we drop down to 29-19.

Chris Jones is a huge part of why we hold teams below 24 points. You all wanna act like we can win shoot out after shoot out, but so far we're winning only about 60% of those. If you don't think losing Chris Jones will shoot our ppg up, then you're just too stupid to reason with.

Patrick Mahomes is the best ever, but even he can't go out and win game after game when the defense can't stop anyone.

10 of our wins were within a TD and most of those games were actually pretty close. We had a tough schedule, so the games were close. Luckily for us we had a QB that could take the team down the field to score when we needed it and a defense led by Chris Jones that could make a stop when we needed it.

Kudos to TribalElder for nailing the OP and thread title on this epic saga. Will no doubt be one we look back on whichever way it falls.

So let's try to figure out the range the Chiefs are offering. We have strong reason to believe Jones is asking $30M per year since someone floated that to the media a week or two ago and no one in the Jones camp complained.

If the Chiefs were offering $28-29M, I feel like the deal would be done by now. We have to assume the Chiefs are offering more than Quinnen Williams' $24M. I feel like even $25M would be a bit of an insult, and Jones camp would be complaining. So it seems to me the Chiefs are offering $26-27M, probably closer to $27M.

Quinnen got 4 years, but he is 25 years old. Maybe the Chiefs are holding firm on 3 years with an out and that's a big sticking point.

So right now it's probably something like Jones demanding $30M over 4 years, and the Chiefs offering $27M over 3 years with an out. If they Chiefs are offering any lower than that, I don't think they're serious about signing him.
