Yeah, after recondering and viewing some of the threads already in there (the new Thig thread excluded) this one doesn't really meet the standards at this time.

Having guys like Sorter and Mecca so low made the list irrelevant anyway.

Those are both top 20 posters on this site and the argument could be made that both are top ten.

If hootie had finished the list, there would have been some truly reeruned guys in the top 50

Eh, Mecca was a legit ranking. If anything he was too high.

Mecca hasn't contributed much for 2-3 years. He's living on his reputation and little else at this point.

I agree that he hasn't posted much the last couple years, but there are no more than 5 posters on this site that can drive conversations as well as he did and regardless of what some posters think about him, he has one of the highest football iqs on this site.

Dude got a bad rap because of his inability to admit mistakes/flaws and his speaking in absolutes constantly...other than that, he is one of the best posters this site has to offer IMO.

That comes from a guy that used to get into it with him on a daily basis.

That's funny, I was asking if there was an element of reverse psychology in those posts. "Frootie can't finish this list (/said with hopes it make him finish the list)". It's about the only thing I can logically think of for calling him out.

Watching the "strife fight" (that's funny in its own right, but if that's what we're going to call it; so be it) is entertainment in its own rite. Thanks for helping my day go by.

Sorter needs to stay consistent and I'll agree. Mecca, that's a joke. As already pointed out for obvious reasons.

Clay took things too far, and, of course I lose interest in things really quickly. Hence, this thread. It was a chore, not a thrill.

Also, Kobe Bryant is overrated.

Pasta Little Brioni 06-12-2013 07:47 PM

Just finish the list...no roastings. A little burst and we can get to 10K, close it, and send it to the HOC.

Clay turning it into a message board version of Call of Duty game wasn't the worst of it. THAT is pretty sad.

maybe tomorrow

with a few roastings

MAYBE

don't get your hopes up

P.S. Stop coattailing me to pad your thread stats.

P.S.S. I think Alex Smith is going to be as good as Trent Green was as a Chief. Not the stats, but the overall QB'ing.

Dude, the Knowmo trial is going to be awesome. You were just a tool to get a 10K thread, but you are about to fail at that. It was a layup. The Planet's Top 101 I was going to start would have been better than this abortion. This is one of the best and worst threads of All Time though.

Simply Red 06-12-2013 08:17 PM

only a true blind homer would say he'll be as good as Trent Green - I doubt by a mile - he'll be more like Kyle Orton with the flu or shingles or something, & that's best case.

I ran into this 49ers fan at that wedding reception a few nights ago. This is a dude who I graduated with in my whopping class of 75 students...in a town with a whopping population of 1500-2000. He follows the Chiefs a bit because his dad's fireworks company does the fireworks there and he works for his dad. He gets VIP everything at Chiefs games and invites me to go with him and offers to pay for all my shit. (No joke. J&M Displays...look it up...I play for their softball team during the summer). I've never been able to work things out to go with him quite yet. KC is quite the haul from where I live and it seems like I've always had work/school/children/wrestling obligations that interfered with my chances of going. Not to mention, I have to be careful for which game(s) I choose to attend, for I have cold urticaria (UGH...worst thing prevalent in my life). Super nice guy though...kind of a goof-ball who fell into a sweet situation when he was roughly 20 years old and his dad's business took off, but nice dude...huge 49ers fan.

75% of our total social interaction Saturday consisted of him razzing me about Alex Smith and 49ers-Chiefs QB's over the years. He basically went on and on about how he was so glad that the Smith era was over with and I tried giving him shit back by saying he still had to be forced to watch Smith at the Chiefs games and he jabbed right back by reiterating to me that he has no affinity whatsoever for the Chiefs. He basically said that he thinks Chiefs fans are generally assholes and he is apathetic as to whether they win or lose for he is a 49ers fan and therefore, he no longer cares about Alex Smith's suckage.

Watching Alex Smith throw the football has always appeared very shot-puttish to me. I didn't know if anyone else perceived it that way or not. It was funny, the dude was like, "yeah you'll get sick of watching Smith throw the football like a shot-putt after 1 half of watching him play." I just kind of laughed and was like, "dude, I'm already sick of it. And **** your Nancy-ass 49ers. Prick."

I have absolutely no optimism whatsoever when it comes to the Chiefs all because of our ongoing ****ing QB woes.

 This. People are expecting too much from Axl Reid. He'll be competent(maybe), but that mother****er ain't winning shit. Most everyone ackowledged the reality of this at first, but then came the OTA reports(and yet MORE dumb and familiar takes like "we're working really hard"(!), and all of a sudden it's happy hope time?
Get real. The best thing that can happen for this team, is for Axl to diahrreah-slide into obscurity sooner rather than later, so we can address this position in a legitimate manner.

I wasn't a member or lurker when we signed Cassel. What was the general mood on CP when we signed him? Were hopes high, low or mixed? What was the mood in comparison to Smith? I was drunk at a bar when I randomly glanced at the TV screen and saw the news via Sportscenter. My whole night was ruined.

Ahhh...takes me back it does...

The recap:

Prior to shitheel being signed, a poll was taken whereby said dumb**** placed DEAD last among three contestants; Cassel, Snatchez, and someone else who escapes me.

NO ONE wanted the mother****er.

Yet, when he was signed, out came the You Tube clips, followed by the SAME EXACT HORSESHIT we are going through right now with Axl.

It's a sad ****ing state of affairs.

My God....thinking about that makes me shudder.

That Mark Sanchez stuff must have really been quite the thing on CP back then. I notice it being referenced all the time.

The butthurt still runs deep over even the lowly Snatchz just ****ing Cassel's world up in every concievable manner.

Some people were gaga for anything Pats related at the time. Other people weren't too happy about it. Seems to me there were a couple dozen holdouts who wanted to see what he could do before giving him a lengthy, expensive contract.

In general, I think most were OK with the trade, but not the long-term contract before he played a snap for us.

Fit me in the final category. I believed the trade was a good one. It gave us a veteran defensive player and a starting quarterback for a 2nd. Even if Cassel washed out we'd have lost nothing, but then out of nowhere came a giant contract that he hadn't earned.

It spawned many additions to the lexicon and it was a full fledged board war that will never be topped.

Good God...a war?! I mean, there was actually 2 sides of the fence on THAT?! Are the Cassel-backers even around now? Are they even willing to show their faces (or at least eat crow) after backing that deal? I just can't imagine defending that deal. Who did? That Pete dude, maybe?
