Let be honest about our draft picks. Veach filled a bunch of holes last off season. Williams and Watson filled in very well in place of Fenton and McDuffie. Harris has play really well in the absence of Willie Gay. On offense the only hole is at RT but it's between solid to elite everywhere else.

My point is these mid to later round picks aren't going to mean as much this year. The premium picks need to be spent on premium positions. Right now that's EDGE and RT.

I must say I don't like the Cook pick right now. I wish we would have used it on a RT but then again I'm sure Veach would tell you the value wasn't there. That's just how it goes sometimes.

All in all, this was a great move by Veach.

Cook has had several big Special Teams tackles to pin the other team deep. He has looked descent in coverage in limited snaps. He should continue to improve.

I don't know how ANYONE can watch Cook play and not be excited about his future. Hell, his present is pretty damn good, both on ST and at safety.

What, exactly, is it that you "don't like" about the pick?

Toney's an elite athletic talent. I've got no qualms about the pick-up, or the pick it took to get him. Its a medium risk/high reward bet.

With his contract the size that it is, I'd say it's low risk / high reward.

I'm still absolutely pumped about this move and cannot wait to see him play.

Reid says that Toney is healthy. Hahahaha....

He HAS to be healthy enough to pass a physical, otherwise he couldn't have been traded.

It's a miracle!

If Toney was injured the 1st week in October then sure he's healthy almost a month later.

O.city 10-31-2022 01:20 PM

So we want him to play but aren't we forgetting "how difficult it is for WR's to pick up this system" or whatever we say when a WR struggles here?

Wonder if the Giants will get a slap on the wrist for marking him down as injured when it seems to be likely that wasn't the case at all.

Trent McDuffie says maybe not.

I don't think anybody expects a big role right away. I'd imagine he'll return kicks in the beginning and get a few snaps on offense until he has a better handle on everything.

Depends on the severity of the injury. A lot of guys can play the week after tweaking a hammy. Other players not so much.

Probably Toney will have a package of plays that Andy will expand as the season goes on. But a lot depends on Toney's ability to absorb the playbook.

My conservative guess is that Toney will be a decoy on a lot of plays initially and most of his touches will be manufactured this season. If he picks things up quickly, he'll get more targets in the last quarter of the season.

But the more I look at it, the more it looks like Toney is really Hardman's eventual replacement in 2023. He's just better at all those gadget type plays than Hardman, and a much better WR that still has some growth ahead of him, while Hardman is basically what he's going to be at this point. Personally, I think Hardman could still grow as a WR, but he's close to his peak at this point. Plus, Mecole will want a big contract, and Toney is still on his rookie deal for another 3 years?

Seems like a no-brainer.
