Chris Jones has been a regular-season monster for us. In the playoffs there isn't much production.

Lord please just stop with this dumb ass narrative.

Both SBs we won would have not happened without Jones in the playoffs. Hell he single handedly wrecked SF's last drive in the SB when they were still in it.

We don’t really have any idea how far apart they are. But regardless I think it’s clear they are happy to risk not getting a deal done knowing they will still get him this season at least, well motivated, and for pretty cheap.

Just saying it's unusual outside of QB. Not saying Jones isn't elite. He definitely is.

If the Chiefs tag him next year, they won't have any cap space to go looking for any free agents. You'd probably have to extend or cut Thuney, make a few other moves to free up some $. The Chiefs will want to get value back and have some control over where he goes, so they won't want to just let him walk.

Which is why the trade him now, free up 21.25 million, and recoup draft picks now has entered the room. Even if it is Plan C.

Plan A - Extention. Looking bleak.
Plan B - Play out season and Tag and Trade. Maybe not ideal
Plan C - Just laid it out.
Plan D - Play out season and let him walk.

Plan C is looking better all the time.

If you trade him now....who are you bringing in to replace him?

Plan D is completely unacceptable.

Suh and Dunlap for this year.

Urc Burry 08-10-2023 12:33 PM

This is all Les Snead’s fault.

They were too scared to call Donald’s bluff. And ended up giving him an anomaly of a contract. And yes I admit I would probably have done the same for fear of losing the greatest defensive player ever

O.city was right. People have lost their minds after we were able to replace Hill with a bunch of randoms. Now people think that applies to every position every scenario.

It is Plan C for me. But we are there. It's entered the picture, like it or not.

It is. But it's also in the realm of things. What if he says he will play provided the Chiefs don't tag him next year? We have already tagged him once back in 2020.

Sofa King 08-10-2023 12:41 PM

Why the hell do people keep bringing up Suh? Dude is an old used up former "good" DT. He fell off years ago and wouldn't make it through as whole year as a starter. And we need a starter.

He can work in a rotation for one year. Then address the postion head on in the next offseason with 33 million and extra draft picks. The 33 million we won't have because of the tag cost.
