I caught some big rainbows in some high and fast water conditions last weekend. I used a #12 "Special" Wooly Bugger on a 5 wt setup:

Bite was slow water was 54 degrees. Caught four all over 3lbs by 1pm, this girl was almost 6.5 lbs. Caught her on a zero gravity jig head with a creature feature trailer. If you haven't heard of zero gravity jig heads they are very light in weight with a brush hook guard. Looks similar to a regular jig head but light as a feather and very durable. They fall one foot every three seconds, perfect for prespawners in colder water. |

Catch and clean enough fish for a week so you can throw everything back and keep fishing for the big one.
