If we're smart we will. I think Clark is going to do the right thing, and if he does we can rest assured that we have the right man at the very top of this org.

Its like buying a car folks, they are going back in forth to get a price both sides want.

The Bad Guy 01-07-2009 05:38 PM

I think Pioli becomes a Chief.

He is going to be the top-paid GM in the NFL based on his succcess.

He is going to have full-control. Lamar gave Carl total control over football operations, why wouldn't Clark give Scott the same.

I really believe this will happen.

1. He wants to be paid like the top GM in the league.
2. He wants total control.

Same unsubstantiated claims people have been making all along. In Boston they are saying Clark offered Pioli one of the richest contracts ever, and in KC they are saying Pioli wanting to get paid among the top GMs in the league is a sticking point.

Nobody knows anything.

Me too. I'm excited for us all.

Donnie Edwards is old, Rocky Boiman is slow, Jason Babin is done, Pat Thomas sucks. Who do you think is lingering around on this squad just waiting to explode?

Not to take anything away from him but Harrison is surrounded by monster talent.

As I said before, I don't expect them to become superstars. They don't HAVE to.

Hali will be playing the backside, 8-10 sacks a year is more than acceptable there. (Which is exactly what he was producing before they moved him)

McBride, Dorsey and Tank have all been misused, and have two years experience or less. They could absolutely blow up with proper coaching.

Derrick Johnson has been misused as well - and it's no secret.

Not even sure why you mentioned the other guys - they are placeholders, nothing more - who were here due to injuries.

Like I said before, maybe they are the schmucks you claim they are.

But considering they all have 3 years or less experience, and that experience came with Herm Edwards and Tim Krumrie giving them instruction, then I'm more than willing to give them the benefit of the doubt until they prove otherwise.

As a future teacher, I can't expect my students to succeed if I'm doing a shitty job teaching them, and not putting them in positions to succeed.

If I'm telling them that the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor, how do you think they are going to do on the test?

These guys are no different. They are going to have to re-learn a lot of techniques, but it's possible.

I think with the Hiring of Mangenious, that leaves the Chiefs as the frontrunners for Pioli. I think its the Chiefs or back to New England. This is good.

Hali will be in his fourth year, McBride & Tyler in their third. I expect them to become average players - not superstars. I've seen nothing on the field from any of them indicating that they're on the verge of becoming impact, playmaking players. With Dorsey, it's difficult to tell because he was playing out of position.

Additionally, I brought up the other players because you used James Harrison as an example. Harrison is 30 years old. He had 8.5 sacks last year and 16 this season. He was rarely on the field the in the preceding 4 years (I guess he wasn't good enough for that defensive genius Bill Cowher).

The Chiefs don't currently have players that are waiting to explode in that manner. Hali's best season was his rookie season and he'd deteriorated since, whether it's been an injury issue or playing out of position. Unless McBride loses 25 pounds, his best position is inside, not outside. He and Tank may yet become a force but at this point in time, I think it's ludicrous to assume that with new coaches, they'll suddenly begin putting up numbers like Merriman, Ware, Abraham, etc.

The Chiefs don't have any athletic, defensive playmakers and no amount of scheming will make up for that.

NO ONE OVER 30![/QUOTE]

This is a Pioli thread right? Don't forget that Pioli as a member of the Patriots brought in 23 free agents the first year at New England. Some of those were . . . gasp . . . over 30.

He's said in interviews since that time that he liked older players because of their professionalism. He's gonna do the same thing here, and if it creates a winning culture like the Patriots have, outdamnstanding.

Herm may've brainwashed you that nobody over 30 can play, but one of the problems this year was there was nobody to show the young players how to act and win in a professional manner.

Um, you don't rebuild a team with a bunch of 30 year-olds.

Yep. Pioli brought those guys in as additions to an already bolstered roster.
