The drops are infuriating, but the guy has the potential to be a yac monster in this offense.
|
More positives are that Rice doesn't need to produce right away.
Hes probably gonna be in the WR5-7 range. There's plenty of time to fix the drop issue. |
When he DOES catch them, he looks just like you'd want him to... they'll get him ironed out

After watching all his plays, I think people are going way overboard. Only one was an egregious drop. The first was catchable but looked like it wasn’t placed that well. Hard to tell from the angle. The 2nd was a short dart that he just wasn’t ready for. The third was terrible. Wide open and it should’ve been a TD.
He’s obviously talented enough that you can live with the occasional drop. It wasn’t a huge issue in college, so it probably won’t be in the NFL. Rice is known for routinely making otherworldly catches. |
"While Rice makes otherworldly catches look easy, drops have been problematic at times."

Meh, Dwayne Bowe had a lot of awful drops too
But he always more than made up for it |
I hope he turns out just like a former receiver named Rice that had issues with drops in his rookie season.

Mahomes will fix him.

I don’t think Mahomes would have lobbied for him if he were dropping every other pass. |
It looked to me that his drops were due to wanting those yac as much as anything. Some have been tough catches, but ones that a WR in the NFL should be making. Plenty of potential there, he just needs to concentrate on his fundamentals a little more. Secure the catch and THEN run.

He had a few drops and everyone freaks out.
He played flat. It happens. This dude is going to be a stud |
Jerry Rice had the drops his rookie year. Just sayin'.
