I'd be surprised if this was about money, especially since Reid and Dorsey share the same agent.

It's more plausible that Clark demanded loyalty to the Chiefs, Dorsey refused and Clark said "Get the **** out".

Yep, we do. Dorsey still has friends with the Packers. He knows whether or not he would be the successor to Thompson.

Hell, Paul George is telling people he's going to the Lakers and willing to forgo 40 million dollars.

The escape clause isn't a logical conclusion.

John Dorsey didn't leave tens of millions of dollars on the table for a chance at a job he has maybe a 25% chance at.

There's nothing 'logical' about that theory at all unless it's also combined with Hunts refusal to attempt to buy it out. One of those cannot exist without the other.

Dorsey will be the #1 candidate for many GM jobs when he's available, including GB. While I'm not happy about this, there was something going on we may never know. It's not about Dorsey's money. I'm pretty sure it was an escape clause.

I communicate regularly with Dorsey's dentist in GB. We went to dental school together.

I'm not so sure that he's the #1 shoe in for that GB job. They have a bunch of young guys in their FO now that could take over that job. It would probably be best for Dorsey to just sit out this year and then see what's available next year. He's getting paid anyways.

Dorsey had plenty of opportunities to leave Green Bay (including the Colts) but only left when offered the Chiefs gig.

I don't think he'll take just any job and his options will be few next year.

I'd be absolutely shocked to see him take the Los Angeles Chargers or Rams gigs (if they're open, which is possible) because he doesn't seem like a guy that wants to be the center of attention in a city with 10 million people (especially when no one cares about the Chargers). Same for the Jets gig.

So, he's not going to the AFC East, North, South or West. He's not going to the NFC East or NFC West. I suppose it's remotely possible that he goes to the Saints and possible that he goes to the Vikings (if they clean house) or the Bears (which is a team that's very likely to clean house).

So, Saints, Vikings and Bears, two teams which compete directly against Green Bay, the same franchise in which he was drafted, served as a scout and Director.

Does anyone truly think that Green Bay wouldn't hire him to succeed Thompson, when they'd face Dorsey year in and year out for a decade or more?

Why doesn't one of you just drive down to the stadium and ask Clark what happened?

Bob LaMonte represents Dorsey and Reid. If LaMonte couldn't negotiate a contract to Hunt and Dorsey's liking, LaMonte would have been fired and someone else would have tried to negotiate a deal.

As far as we know, that didn't happen.

Dorsey wasn't fired for reckless spending or cutting Maclin or poor salary cap management when he's brought so much success to the Chiefs organization. Clark Hunt has never reacted with anger or disgust towards his employees. Hell, he even tried to convince Reid to work with Pioli!

There had to be a fatal impasse in the negotiations, so much so that Hunt said, "We're better off without you this year", while paying him this year.

Maybe, but as far as anybody knows the rumors of him leaving for GB are just that, rumors. By all accounts he seems happy in KC. Even if you think there's a 50/50 shot he leaves don't you give him the benefit of the doubt and stick with him one more season, after all he's done to turn around this franchise? I mean after all like you said they're paying him just to sit home. He should've gotten extended the minute he drafted a QB in the first round for the only time in my life.

NFL live saying that Dorsey was fired because of some bad deals he's made and also beating Reid wouldn't sign a extension without knowing who the gm is going to be. They keep bringing up Brett Veach

Too far. Got him on FB though, I'll fire him up

As I mentioned earlier, Hunt and Dorsey's agent reached a fatal impasse.

There's absolutely no reason to believe that it was money, unless Dorsey asked for something so astronomically high that he actually forced his way out (which is unlikely, as all of the reports said that Dorsey was shocked to hear of his firing).

I'm not going to speculate about anything other than his performance as a GM, which was exemplary, so the only conclusion that makes any sense is the escape clause.
