Can we get an opinion from a chiropractor while we're at it?

chiefzilla1501 10-01-2024 11:32 AM

I would love to believe this but while they’ve been vague with details, surgery (potentially multiple) has been mentioned and that doesn’t seem to align with that kind of timeline.

I believe him. I don't know why, but I do ...

Nirvana58 10-01-2024 11:34 AM

My guess is we won't hear until next week. As they are waiting for the swelling to go down so they can go in with a scope. They didn't see a tear on the MRI so they want to go in with a camera to see the extent of the damage.

If a doctor can't spot a torn acl within a week, it's probably not a torn acl, right??

Injury prone type of injuries are inevitable. If that guy doesn't fall on Hollywood that way at that moment he never hurts his shoulder this season. It was all pure bad luck, and pointing to his injury history as if we should've saw it coming is just nonsense.

Once again Dr Chao has come out and said swelling doesn't stop mri's from seeing a acl tear so either the acl is a small grade 1/partial or it's not an acl tear. He thinks it could be a bone bruise, pcl strain or both.

"Chao’s rap sheet of alleged medical malpractice is extensive; and frankly, quite dark. Once the team doctor for the Los Angeles Chargers, Chao has been sued by nearly two dozen patients and accused of aiding his former medical partner’s addiction to prescription painkillers. No? He doesn't have access to the MRIs or X Rays? Then no, he doesn't actually know a god damn thing currently. I've seen everything speculated from a typical hyperextension to a PCL tear. Hell, the people actually treating Rice don't even know what's going on conclusively yet. Just chill the **** out and wait.

First off, no one can diagnose an ACL tear based on video of the injury alone, regardless of their credentials. But beyond that, most practicing medical professionals wouldn't try.

IowaHawkeyeChief 10-01-2024 01:10 PM

Don't know why the hate for some of these post... It it was a definite tear, we would know by now, it appears to be less severe than originally thought. That doesn't mean less time out, just most likely a more positive eventual return to their previous abilities. This seems to be good news.

He technically hasn't diagnosed it, he has said swelling doesn't effect the MRI, is he wrong?

I'm hopeful that even if its significant enough he misses a lot of time if he avoids surgery or at least a full rebuild of the ACL his long term durability is in a better spot with a much shorter rehab time.

As is obvious there is a huge difference in him being out for the year and the playoffs and then being out maybe until week 16 or so. Still think it is unlikely but doesn't sound near as grim as before. Whether we have Rice from now until the end of the season barely matters. Having him for the playoffs and a game or two to get acclimated is.

Blue checks mean nothing anymore. Don't get too excited.

I use a Chrome plugin (Eight Dollars) that distinguishes posters who were verified under the old system vs. paid blue checks.

Not an internet orthopedist but couldn't this just be heinous bruising and inflammation? Like I've gotten clipped in the kneecap before and been off line for 1+ weeks from the bruising alone (with no soft tissue damage).

MRI I assume are still not 100% accurate, I am definitely more familiar with X-ray/ct/ultrasound when it comes to modality limitations.

The clinical exam would have yielded most likely a more positive response than the the one we got from the team/ coaches after the game . Swelling might of giving a false negative more than positive.

This reminds me a lot of the Mahomes kneecap drama LMAO

NO ONE thought he was gonna be ready after two weeks.

100% no way Rice plays a single down vs 49ers.

It can and MRI's are not 100% accurate to begin with.

ThrobProng 10-01-2024 02:11 PM

Why would anyone listen to a physical therapist regarding Rice's injury? That MFer probably sells people on dry needling, if he's able to legally treat people at all.

^ Andy Reid had to publicly come out and deny the fanfiction he was involved with.

"This whole thing with Eric Bieniemy that's gotten kind of fabricated," Reid told reporters. "We were on vacation, and over the two weeks, I came back, and all the sudden I didn't like Eric, and Eric didn't like me and Pat Mahomes and everybody else. And that's not the case. We all get along good. And I'm glad he's back with us and rollin'."

Traitor. Doomer. Coward.

So your saying Bieniemy hurt Rice's knee?

MRI scans are generally accurate for diagnosing ACL tears, with a high sensitivity and specificity:

They’re accurate when you combine mri with the other test it’s virtually 100%

Kc is withholding info for a reason. That reason I dont know

This video makes complete sense. It’s a partial acl tear and they don’t know if surgery or not until swelling goes down and they can test the stability

displacedinMN 10-01-2024 03:27 PM

so scope it and let the bruise heal?????? damn good news.

Hammock Parties 10-01-2024 03:31 PM

This is gonna go down like Len Dawson's knee in 1969.

Sat out until the postseason, no surgery. Came back and had no problems running the full route tree. Even played some QB.

Bountygatecos are week 10 & 18. I guess week 11

Where's the rigged crowd to tell me that Mahomes purposely dived at Rice's knee and he's currently faking an injury so the Chiefs will lose games they shouldn't, thus tightening the AFC Playoff race.

They haven't had their meeting yet where they get together and decide whose ass they're pulling s*** out of this week.

Balto 10-01-2024 04:05 PM

Partially torn ACL! They should take some ligaments or stem cells from Chris Jones's Penis and put them directly into his knee! Should be good by the 9ers game I'm told!

If you are Rice and your career would it be better to just have surgery either way even if partial tear? Obviously I have no idea what Im talking about here, not a doctor. But from his perspective what is the difference between grade 1, grade 2, grade 3 tear etc
