Clark Hunt sounded optimistic Kelce would play during his interview on Good Morning Football.
|
Quote:
I'd probably be optimistic about most things if I were him, too. ;) |
Rapsheet just said that Kelce is experiencing no pain currently!
|

And hey since you know those guys were ready to play earlier than they eventually played (speaking of knowing what you know and don't need to know anything more) I guess there isn't anything left to discuss. |

Kelce got drunk before kickoff? |

Have fun with that. |

The only reason they don't slow roll Mahomes is because that changes the odds of winning, this team is 100% about the playoffs but they also don't wanna be the 6 seed.

Yeah I think he's playing. Probably not a lot tho

The #Chiefs are elevating TE Matt Bushman from the practice squad for tonight's game against the #Lions, source said. Insurance in case Travis Kelce can’t go.
Per Ian |
He's playing, and he'll probably go off for like 133 yards and 2 TD while playing like 19 total snaps.
Because Chiefs. |

I would settle for just catching the balls that hit him in the hands. But yeah, he should be a favorable mismatch vs. their LBs. |

BREAKING: The team will evaluate close to game time, and if Kelce can play, he'll play. If not, he won't.

Bushman was elevated to the 53 man roster. You would assume that means Kelce is a no-go.

I want Kelce to rest
|
I’d probably want to have another TE active even if Kelce were playing in any capacity tonight.
|
Quote:
|
Considering the Chiefs went with 4 TE's every game last year and PS elevation really shouldn't mean much.

Or put him in to keep an eye on MVS getting open deep. If he only plays a handful of snaps, it will be curious to see the offense with and without him on the field. |
Limit Kelce's reps and have Bushman absorb some contact on early downs and between the 20s...

It all depends on what the trainers say and how he is feeling. Sure, a tougher game against the Lions isn't the end of the world, but even if there is a lot of depth/potential at WR, I'm not exactly expecting it to be a well oiled machine just yet. |

They can grab 5 guys from the tailgate party and 15 and Big Red could probably still find a way to win. WBF
|
What is certain is that Kelce is doing everything he can to convince Reid that he can play. If there is any likelihood that Kelce could aggravate the injury by playing, then he needs to be held out against his own desire to play. If everything is intact and it's just a matter of managing and playing through the pain, then I could see him playing at least some limited snaps like third downs and red zone.

I’m for that just for the entertainment value alone. |
"Travis Kelce wants to play and thinks he can play tonight.. In the end the Chiefs trainer Rick Burkholder is gonna make the final call on if he ends up playing" Via: Adam Schefter.

@WerderEdESPN
Sources tell me that #Chiefs tight end Jason Kelce is pleading with head coach Andy Reid and trainer Rick Burkholder to play him tonight against the Lions despite the hyperextended knee he suffered in the team’s final practice two days ago. LMAO |

I have Kelce in FF.
If I start him tonight, he wont play or have limited snaps. If I bench him, he will play and go off the charts. I`m snakebite when it comes to FF. |

Time for old Ed to retire. |
Kind of what I figured, I don't think they're keeping him off the field unless they put him in a cage.
Just make sure the refs tell these sleazy Lion players that any kneecap chomping on 87 will not be tolerated. |
If Travis still has some swelling or pain, he's not playing, period.
He still had some swelling yesterday, per ESPN, but that could be all taken care of by now. We'll just have to wait and see. |
Sit him.
We'll beat the Lions |

And well they should. Andy's clock management sucks ass, dontcha know . . . |
It's Week 1. Of a long season. Against an NFC team. In a game that likely won't matter in the playoff picture ultimately.
If ANY doubt or concern with his knee, SIT HIM! He has 10 days to rest on the other side and get ready for Jacksonville. A team and game we need him in much more than this one. |

I'm excited that Kelce and Jones are not playing. My friends been talking that "Can't win without' shit, like they did last year with Tyreek. Can't wait to watch the GOAT go to work with our sick WR crew...

They'd probably let him play if it was a playoff game, but not worth the risk in a week one game.
