The Chiefs are in a SB window, it's past FA/Draft so they can't fill that spot. A trade isn't really likely at this point this year. It's kinda a ****ed spot for both parties. |

CJ gave Veach leverage by saying he'll be a Chief for life but other than that he needs to be a team player, take a 4 year 100 mill , Veach should make it fully guaranteed or what I expect will happen is he gets traded while he's tradeable.
We can still win a SB without CJ. We have Mahomes and that's what matters. |

Good as gone in 24. Veach made a mistake not trading him last spring.

Fans always seemed convinced that players will of course be reasonable or that the team will always stretch the cap. I mean I hope they do work something out. But by the time it comes to a hold out in the last year of a contract... I won't be at all surprised to see Jones sign his next contract with a different team. |

UPDATE: 810 reporting that CJ posted “all good things must come to an end” on his Instagram. Their interpretation is that Jones may soon be on the trading block. :(

Could've been talking about his Gates Mixed Plate for all anyone knows

I think he's talking about his break during training camp. He knows he's gonna have to get out on the practice field soon.

I think he's talking about the 32oz Baja Blast he got from Taco Bell

I could be Soren Petro. Only I'm 200lbs lighter.

Soren Petro now has a national slot on Sundays on ESPN radio - he's just as awful as I'd imagined. He said that Chipper Jones' real name is Andrew instead of Larry - he literally thought it was Andrew.

Has Soren told you about the time he lived in Vegas?!?1

Getting names correct has never been a Petro thing. He's always in the ballpark so you know who he's talking about but getting them exactly right is a struggle for him.

I think Jones will sign after training camp, but if, hypothetically, he misses games and game checks, are the Chiefs able to roll the unpaid dollars into surplus cap for 2024?
I think Jones does not mind missing out on training camp and also does not want to repeat what Tyrann Mathieu had which was play last year of contract. But holding out into the year, hurts Jones on missed pay and fines and could help Chiefs with 2024 salary cap unless Jones claws back that surplus when he does sign an extension. |

At this point, I really couldn't care less if he signs or gets traded. This holdout is ridiculous. The money that he's pissed away in fines is more than most people have to retire on. If his egotistical need to be paid Aaron Donald money means more than winning championships, then he can go pound sand with Tyreek and Veach can get valuable draft capital, then go out and sign Suh, Joseph, Blockers or another DT. They're out there. Spags and Cullen can figure it out

The outcome of this wouldn't surprise me no matter which way it went. The guy has 2 Super Bowl rings and probably is looking down the road a bit further than a 3rd at pushing 30 years of age. But I'm certainly pining for a return of CJ.
Unless he gets kidnapped by Killer Clowns from Outer Space...then I'd be surprised. https://www.horrorgeeklife.com/wp-co...8-1068x602.jpg |

The Tyreek trade hurt because of the talent lost. A CJ trade would hurt because of the talent, and the fact that I just love this dude being a Chief. I have a little more emotional investment in Jones than I did in Tyreek.
I got over Tyreek pretty quick, Jones would be another matter. That said, I still think something gets done. Lastly, why do these ****ers always have to do the cryptic tweets? |
Yeah, I think Jones is one of the bigger leaders in the locker room. It would be tough to lose.
|
Good thing we're not losing him.
It's August 4th ladies. Un-bunch your panties and enjoy life. He'll be back soon. |

What's the old saying? Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. If you really want that $30MM and end up on the Saints or some shit team to do it, well......... |
KC could have signed Jones prior to investing big bucks on Taylor. You have two FA on the oline getting top dollar. Thuney and Taylor. Its impossible to pay top dollar at more than just a few positions. Reid is another example. Big money for an above average but not great safety.
At this point KC needs to let Jones walk next year. He already screwed up this season by not signing thus KC could not ad another quality FA without the cap space needed from A jones deal. Let him walk and keep the younger guys on D. Keep Snead. |

I'm good with whatever they decide to do tbh. Brett Veach and his staff have proven time and time again that they know how to find talent. Last years Tyreek saga was the cherry on top of a phenomenal 2021 class that gave us Bolton, Creed and Trey; all top 10 at their positions.
I absolutely love Chris Jones but I can see the value of doing a Tyreek like trade to get more draft assets and free up a ton of money. |

I hate letting said talent go over money when we've shown we can fill around it with the draft. But in the end, they know what they're doing. |
Nobody is doing a Tyreek trade for CJ. Few teams have the cap space to do it this year, and by next year tag and trade won't be much leverage. We might get the same compensation by letting him walk, although a year later.
|
The Chiefs will find it tough to tag and trade him next year, because of the tag number.
Chris has got some leverage here. |

I’m glad I’m not Veach with this decision.
We could still be dominant without Jones, but it will absolutely be tougher in the playoffs to win without him. Omenihu, Karlaftis, Benton, Nnadi and Wharton can all play DT…but without Jones, our run defense will take a hit. At least imo. |
