That would be some kick ass scrap book shit there and some bragging rights at class.

It all depends, Probably not at UFC events, because unless you're high profile or apart of the road crew this is pretty damn hard, But If there's a fighter I know on the card I could probably get 1 on 1 time with them or their camp, and I usually know what Hotels all the fighters are staying so there are always those places to lurk around. I could get backstage and VIP seats/tickets to Bellator events and MAYBE Strikeforce, word is they are really easy guys to work with regarding that sort of thing. And definitely smaller org's like KOTC, MFC, those types. Also keep a look out for UFC fan expo's, they will be doing a lot more of those and I have personally attending the one in Boston for UFC 118 and Had a blast and met a ton of fighters that I've wanted to.

That's pussy. That's chicken shit. It's still fighting. I don't respect a guy that talks about how he's going to put his fist down a guys throat then shows he is too scared to stand and trade with the man. NO I don't respect Rashad and I think he's a coward for that.

Fair enough. I like the guy though and will root for him to win almost any fight he is in.

Sweet dude, I'll contact you for sure next time I go to a match.

What do you think the chances are on an Ortiz comeback? (I know, I know, what do you expect from a Chiefs fan :D )

UPDATE : Patrick Cote was released today.

And For Ortiz? Who knows. He was obviously in great shape coming into this fight. Self proclaimed his neck/skull were completely healed, and he looked good (physically) from what I could see. He didn't work on enough wresting and thats what it came down to from my perspective. I think that if he could have trained his wrestling more and just went back to the basics he could've left with a 'W'. But he didn't and we got what we've seen out of Tito his last 3 fights. I think if he wants to start winning he needs to bring in better partners to spar with, wrestle with, basically overhaul his whole game. He's one of those types that Dana won't ditch IMO even though they have bad history. He carried the UFC in the early days when he was fighting Ken/Chuck/Randy when the UFC was really struggling, so I mean, Cards are on the table for him, he got paid like 250k for his fight that he lost, that is some serious love there from the Fertita brothers. His path is his own to choose, either he changes whats wrong finally or he needs to hang em up, simple.

TrickyNicky 10-27-2010 02:49 PM

Ortiz is a name. People will always pay to watch him fight which is why he makes the big bucks. I don't think he'll ever comeback to dominance, but he can still be relevant as a gatekeeper for LHW's into the top of the division.

See that wasn't so hard, was it? You should try this tact more often. You'd be more respected for it than the epic know-it-all douche caricature you tend to throw out there. It's kinda of like an amalgam of Jared Allen and Joe Rogan. Just sayin dude. Here's to progress!!!

It's fine to like a fighter, but understand his limitations and where his weak points are. That's how the argument about LEsnar began. Because some guys saw him as this unstoppable machine because he ran through some tomato cans. He faced two top fighters that could stop his shoot and was exposed exactly the way lots of us said he would be.

oh god. he's horrible now. there's no way white would re-sign him.

Shogun 10-27-2010 07:04 PM

He's not horrible. The only fight he lost was to Mercer and Fedor, and it was clean to his Jaw. He almost beat Big Nog before he left. Hes got a nice little streak going, and anything to add to the HW Division. They need someone who is on a little winning streak to come in and fight Nelson for Carwin, I am going to bet money on this being what he does.

Long overdue. The Featherweight and Lightweight championship races in WEC for the past 2 years has been the most captivating storyline in MMA, imo.

No doubt. This should really add some depth to the PPV's.

Shogun 10-28-2010 10:58 AM

Its really amazing to think how much money the UFC has, All of these guys who were getting paid like 2-5 thousand a fight will be getting paid much more now that they are officially apart of the UFC. Jose aldo likely going to be making as much as all the other champs now, not to mention Dominick Cruz. And potentially adding a Flyweight class to the UFC? This is amazing news.

I would still watch little people MMA. Although you would kind of have to reinstate headbutts, or the fights would all be draws.

Since we're on this thread once again (that's a good thing), what's your guys opinion on Carlos Condit?

I'm liking this guy for the same reasons I fell in love with Ortiz. He's not a huge guy, just knows how to ****ing brawl. Intense MF too, he looks at guys when they step in the octagon like they just kicked his dog. After looking at his disciplines I can't believe he doesn't have a wrestling background after watching a couple of his fights.

Seeing him knockout "Mr. T" Dan Hardy brought a smile to face. Especially after Hardy talked so much shit. You'd think Hardy was stepping into the ring with some guy off the street the way he was talking shit.

Yeah, I understand that aspect but I don't like the WWF style cheese it brings. I think your chances of crying "mommy" if shit goes wrong are about 100x more likely in MMA. Shits fo real.

That's why you don't talk shit.

EDIT: according to WIKI he's 6' 2" - no way he looks that big.

When he was the WEC WW champ I was pretty pissed that when they absorbed the WW talent into the UFC they didn't give him a unification bout with GSP ( Maybe it was Serra at the time ) to unify the belts like they're doing with Ben Henderson. I love Condit and he has the skills to be the champion, and he won against Kampmann IMO, His shot should happen soon if he continues beating guys like he has been.

Ben Henderson is going to have all he wants just getting past Anthony Pettis. I'm not sure he's ready for Edgar or even some of the top tier guys like Florian.

Imo Varner would've beaten him if they had their rematch.

I'm done betting against Henderson. The guy just seems to win despite the odds. That said, the gap between the WEC LW's and the top of the food chain UFC LW's could be pretty damn big.

I don't get why people continue to use this, Its clear in the replays from the right side angle that he was infact hit. Dude had to get Retina surgury, and he did. He was hit.

This, A lot of people, myself included, are so used to having these champions that have been so dominant so long and just never lose that when new champions come along they just asume they're going to lose their next fight because they haven't had the 'staying' treatment like most of the champs in the UFC. Well until there is another champ like Brock, I'm giving the champ the benefit of the doubt until the contender for them is without a doubt going to win. The champion is a champion regardless, and got to be that way somehow.

Indeed! I'm really hoping Marquardt can pull out the victory over Okami and get himself another title opportunity.

What a let down, Marquardt seems to really tighten up when the big fights are on the line. for the most part the card was a let down. I really wish we could have seen Rivera v Sakara.

Marquardt is going to be forever known as a gatekeeper as long as he keeps his mediocre shit up. I'm sure he knows he is waaay better than his recent performances. Such a let down.

He has superstar potential but he can't seem to get his brain right.

He is the Middleweight version of K-flo.

He was much better when he was fighting as the king of Pancrase. The good old days are often better. Now he fights like a scared little bitch, like everybody out of Jacksons minus Condit and Jones.

Tell me about it bro, the damn dude BS'd all around the octagon the other night, IDK if it was his gameplan or what. I don't wanna see no damn Jap (inb4 racist) go up for the title belt.

I have also cancelled my trip to K-1 Dynamite! This year due to lack of business. FML. Guess I'll just catch it on HDNET and cry.

He basically gave Okami the fight. I think Okami would have won anyways because he's been training his wrestling with Sonnen for the last 6 months. He looked good.

If Nate would've bucked up and did what he's good at, which is knocking mofo's out their damn socks, I don't see Okami winning that fight. I swear Jackson is killing MMA.
