What do you think the chances are on an Ortiz comeback? (I know, I know, what do you expect from a Chiefs fan :D ) |
Quote:
And For Ortiz? Who knows. He was obviously in great shape coming into this fight. Self proclaimed his neck/skull were completely healed, and he looked good (physically) from what I could see. He didn't work on enough wresting and thats what it came down to from my perspective. I think that if he could have trained his wrestling more and just went back to the basics he could've left with a 'W'. But he didn't and we got what we've seen out of Tito his last 3 fights. I think if he wants to start winning he needs to bring in better partners to spar with, wrestle with, basically overhaul his whole game. He's one of those types that Dana won't ditch IMO even though they have bad history. He carried the UFC in the early days when he was fighting Ken/Chuck/Randy when the UFC was really struggling, so I mean, Cards are on the table for him, he got paid like 250k for his fight that he lost, that is some serious love there from the Fertita brothers. His path is his own to choose, either he changes whats wrong finally or he needs to hang em up, simple. |
Ortiz is a name. People will always pay to watch him fight which is why he makes the big bucks. I don't think he'll ever comeback to dominance, but he can still be relevant as a gatekeeper for LHW's into the top of the division.

Heres to you Nicky. New Horwich interview with Reggie warren, an MMA 'comic' or 'parody' of sorts. Good interview, you'll enjoy it if you havent seen it.

I'm fine with the outcome, sometimes ya just gotta walk away. I like the fighters I like and you like the ones you do. Just let it go. I have also been wrong in a lot of my predictions of football, doesn't make you better than me. Let it die son!! This old horse has already been beat to death :( |

He's not horrible. The only fight he lost was to Mercer and Fedor, and it was clean to his Jaw. He almost beat Big Nog before he left. Hes got a nice little streak going, and anything to add to the HW Division. They need someone who is on a little winning streak to come in and fight Nelson for Carwin, I am going to bet money on this being what he does.

UFC and WEC to Merge in January

Long overdue. The Featherweight and Lightweight championship races in WEC for the past 2 years has been the most captivating storyline in MMA, imo.
|
I wonder what happens to Ben Henderson and his title? If he gets the first fight against winner of Gray/Frankie?

Its really amazing to think how much money the UFC has, All of these guys who were getting paid like 2-5 thousand a fight will be getting paid much more now that they are officially apart of the UFC. Jose aldo likely going to be making as much as all the other champs now, not to mention Dominick Cruz. And potentially adding a Flyweight class to the UFC? This is amazing news.

I would still watch little people MMA. Although you would kind of have to reinstate headbutts, or the fights would all be draws.

Since we're on this thread once again (that's a good thing), what's your guys opinion on Carlos Condit?
I'm liking this guy for the same reasons I fell in love with Ortiz. He's not a huge guy, just knows how to ****ing brawl. Intense MF too, he looks at guys when they step in the octagon like they just kicked his dog. After looking at his disciplines I can't believe he doesn't have a wrestling background after watching a couple of his fights. Seeing him knockout "Mr. T" Dan Hardy brought a smile to face. Especially after Hardy talked so much shit. You'd think Hardy was stepping into the ring with some guy off the street the way he was talking shit. |

That's why you don't talk shit. EDIT: according to WIKI he's 6' 2" - no way he looks that big. :D |

I'm done betting against Henderson. The guy just seems to win despite the odds. That said, the gap between the WEC LW's and the top of the food chain UFC LW's could be pretty damn big.

What a ****ing queery decision. Frausto was gifted her last two fights into a title. ****ing bullshit.

So, the day after the robbery and I still feel sick to my stomach. This feels like it did after Fedor loss, but this loss was bullshit.
|
WEC on Versus tonight. Faber is fighting and he is never boring. I think he'll find that 135 is just as tough as 145 but we'll see. UFC 122 this weekend as well, rooting for Marquardt in that one.

Im taking Mizugaki by sub

Marquardt is going to be forever known as a gatekeeper as long as he keeps his mediocre shit up. I'm sure he knows he is waaay better than his recent performances. Such a let down.

He was much better when he was fighting as the king of Pancrase. The good old days are often better. Now he fights like a scared little bitch, like everybody out of Jacksons minus Condit and Jones. |

I have also cancelled my trip to K-1 Dynamite! This year due to lack of business. FML. Guess I'll just catch it on HDNET and cry.
