I just saw this post. I had to sell all the pups but one and I probably should have sold him because 4 setters in my suburban yard is too many. I just had to keep a pup from my first litter though. So I kept the Hoss. He's the one with the white head.

I have to take some pictures later today, so I was checking out my camera. My buddy Baxter the Cat decided to help me out. This is from the Blowfish Batcave. Baxter likes to hang out with me when I surf the web. He also likes to type, although I can't understand a thing he writes.

My dog has it rough.
We celebrated her birthday yesterday and I made her a special dog treat, which she promptly devoured.

That's been a done deal for a while now. I actually traded Big John (the one with the colored ears) to the owner of a shooting preserve. I traded him for a couple hunts.

Chiefsplanet, I give you Bandit. Our newest addition.

Apparently he was stranded and no one claimed him, just a leash and collar, no chip. So when we went to APA to look at a few wonderful dogs, this one just stole our hearts. Great dog, already learned sit, lay, shake and fetch (well, he's got sit and fetch down pat, and we're still working on lay and shake). Went to the park today and he was ready to jump in the water. Fun, and full of energy, but not even close to hyper. Awesome dog.

He currently weighs 185....eats around 6-8 cups a day which will most likely increase with the cold weather :(

This is my big bubba Dozer. He is a brindle bullmastiff (they can be red or fawn (blonde) as well). Many confuse bullmastiff and mastiff. Mastiff is the giant one (200 lbs or more), bullys are a cross between bulldogs and bullmastiffs, so they are smaller than mastiffs (100-140).
Dozer is our second bullmastiff (RIP Tank). He’s about 130/135 depending on the day. I’ve had lots of dogs in my life and bullys are the best. Gentle giants…even with kids. Tank was around when my kids were toddlers and was so so gentle and protective. Great watchdogs. Typically quiet, so if they sound off you should go see what’s up. Not super energetic (after having an American Tundra Shepherd I never want a high energy dog again! Good LORD!). Depending on head size slobbering is not much of an issue (that movie Hooch is not a true representation at all…that is a French Mastiff, but close enough to bullys). Usually it’s only a true issue directly after a drink of water. Funny thing about Dozer is he’s usually walking around with a towel in his mouth. Works for us! Anyways, if you’re at all interested in the big breeds, bullys are pretty awesome animals.

I love these dogs and my neighbor has a couple of them but they are so massive these dogs can hardly walk, bad joints I guess... I know when he loads them up to go to the vet he backs his truck in the ditch and lets them walk on and does the same when unloading them...

they can be if you **** around and piss them off. i've raised a few. once they get big enough, turn them loose and let them do their own thing.

My buddy's mom raised some coons. Other than getting into shit constantly, they were really nice. The neighbors pit bull got out and massacred them.

Nah. Not if you actually raise them like a pet. My cousin currently has one that's 11 years old and another that's 5 or 6. They're part of the family and play in the yard with the dogs and cats. The older one weighs about 25 pounds... If you're sitting in a chair on the porch, the fat little bastard will hop right up in your lap like a cat and take a nap.

I wouldn't suggest expecting to keep them indoors past a year or two old though. But only because they need a lot of exercise or they'll hide things around the house, and play in the toilet all the time.

We have had Toto on the Innova low fat food now for about 5 years, he is now only 14 lbs. and getting old and slightly cranky. We have a 5 pound female now that runs the house.

How does the bathroom situation work with a coon? Cats have litter boxes. Do they just stay outside all the time?

I just can't see how that's going to go well. But maybe it can.

For me personally, I'm not a fan of Racoons. We had a pond in our backyard and man did those d@mn racoons love that. Would come at night in the summer treating it like a fish buffet. Never really caught many fish but would tear up all my water plants in the process.

... Probably my fault for not having a pond big enough.

Raccoons are actually very smart animals. Smarter than dogs and cats. Their intelligence has often been estimated to be at near primate levels.

They're more popular as pets than most people realize. Like I said, ours have always wrestled around with the other dogs and cats like no big deal.

This pit bull doesn't seem to mind...
