You can get a 100w solar panel for $120.

And? What's the cost to install it? Where is the energy going to be stored? What's that gonna cost? Sounds like a pain in the ass.

it is 9f and will be -1 tomorrow morning. Great time to have Dew in the garage.

Generac has seemed like a good option, if willing to throw down $5k

The ones he's talking about are portable. Just set it out in the yard and plug it in. A lot of van lifers/rv owners use them. Especially out west where they're banning gas powered generators

I have a generac 8000w portable. I just have not hooked it up to the house yet. Dad had it hooked up to the farmhouse. Powered the pump, tv, lights and electricity to the furnace.

Those with gas insert fireplaces. Check to see if you have a battery hookup under the furnace. You should be able to get it to light with batteries. The fan wont run, but at least you have some heat.

It’s portable, and I would assume you’d store the energy in your UPS battery.

I forgot, do they use salt/sand/brine in the KC areas?

LMAO. The battery charges just fine from an outlet, man. WTF am I going to do with a solar panel at 8 PM when the power is out?

I guess that would be useful if the power went out during the day. But now I gotta worry about running a cord from the outside into the house? In zero degree temps? ROFL

Yeah, for what you're using it for, it probably wouldn't make sense. Prolonged power outages are a part of Florida living and having a power source that doesn't use gas, which is usually in short supply during a hurricane, is appealing to me.

Yes, mostly salt. When I lived in Nashville it was mostly brine.

time to get out the ice skates

Would not want to be in the ER the next few days. A lot of broken bones and dislocated joints.

Body shop dream.....but you may be waiting 4 weeks to get in.
