Should get an interesting look at Irma.

eDave 09-07-2017 08:02 AM

Beautiful launch against that backdrop of Irma cumulus clouds.

eDave 09-07-2017 08:08 AM

And lands through a cloud.

DaFace 09-07-2017 08:12 AM

Woot. Now they have to get that stage down and in the hangar in a hurry!

eDave 09-07-2017 08:17 AM

That was the smoothest mission we've seen. Up, down, done.

While there is some level of truth to the idea that space debris is a problem, saying that it's anywhere close to "boxing us in" is silly. Hell, Elon's wanting to launch a constellation of around 4500 satellites all in one orbit.

Space is big; there's lots of room.

Thank you guys for keeping this updated, I wouldn't have a clue about any of this. I do not follow the program, but they seem to be much more advanced and aggressive than NASA ever was.

Looking around on the interwebs, we're probably in for a break of around 3 weeks. I'll put the Iridium launch on 10/4 in the OP, but there's a chance that SES-11 will happen first. Time will tell.

Pretty cool shot from today's activities.

Oh, this was the OTV mission? I'm glad that it panned out.

Super secret AF mission?

Not as secretive as the NROL-76 mission, where we didn't even know what was inside the fairing. :)

NROL-76 (in April) was a classified launch. We never got any information about what it is that they were launching, though people can guess that it was a LEO launch at least.

For this one (this morning), we know that it was the X-37 "space plane" going up, and we know that it was going to LEO. We just don't know what it's doing while it's up there.
