So nice to watch the Donx just give a playoffs game away, when another team might have actually won.

My new years wish is that everyone in the Bengals organization had a bout of acid reflux watching that game, going "damn, just one more win...".

What was up with them passing while they were up 28-7 with like 6 minutes left in the game. I swear that entire drive was like 80/20 pass/run ratio. Difficult franchise to root for.

Yeah, I probably undervalue everything else when thinking about what it takes for a team with a franchise QB to make the playoffs, or to put it another way, think the entire ****ing world would have to blow up for a franchise QB to miss the playoffs.... because Nix and ****ing Russell Wilson made it, and it's not like either of those teams even have 'elite' units or an elite team around them.

Only thing that comes to mind is that it must be nice to not have the 25th ranked defense AND the 30th ranked offensive line, while also having a < mid ranked running game and kickers who missed 2 direct game winning field goals (1 didn't hurt them in the end) and 2 kicks in a game where you were tied late. Basically, what i'm saying is...it must be nice to not have an organization full of dumbasses.

But you know. None of that matters. Excuses and whatnot. Whatev.

After basically disowning the Chiefs in the Herm years and then again in the Pioli years, my one fear with Mahomes was being so butt****ing stupid with the team around him, they'd repeat whatever the hell the Packers did to Aaron Rodgers all those years (I mean seriously, how the hell can you **** up such talent for that long and not even luck into more SB appearances coming from the NFC?).... fortunately, Veach goes all-in to fix issues every offseason and I have to assume Mahomes has a pretty big voice in what happens, who they draft and bring in, etc.

I still can’t believe the Bengals defense is so bad that they caused Burrow to throw an INT against the Ravens in their first game when they just needed a few first downs to win.

Packers hardly ****ed up anything. They provided Fraudgers with some loaded rosters, particulary towards the end of his tenure with the team. Not their fault he was a consistent top of the line playoff choker. That one playoff run when they lost to the whiners at home after scoring a measely 10 points, that was the most stacked roster of any team in the playoffs.

Let’s keep in mind that Rodgers is also a whack job, no doubt that played as big a part in the end results as anything else.

Thankfully, Pat has his head screwed on straight.

What do you expect them to do? They have one of the worst OL in the league, Burrow is about to take up a LOT of cap space, Chase and Higgins want to be paid, you just cut the defensive coordinator because your GM is bad at his job.

There’s not much they can do except wish they hadn’t dropped one to the Pats. But they won’t be in a position to actually make anything happen besides wishful thinking. Sorry bro, the window closed.

Nah. They saw how much they ****ed up in '20 getting Burrow hurt so they jumped in the deep end of the pool in '21. They've tried to ride that roster for the last 4 years with tweaks here and there. They'll jump back in and attempt to fix the Oline and D, while Burrow restructures to sign both Chase and Higgins.

They have plenty of money and ability to reload. Let's just see how capable they are or if they're butt****ing morons.

If Pat were in that NFCC game against the Brady Bucs, he takes off running and scores the TD. Packers win and Brady doesn't get his 7th SB.

Aaron lacks that killer instinct. He stuck to the play even though the avenue for victory was staring up right at him.

Probably Lamar because he has two MVPs. But it's close. The loser of this game will get shit for a whole year. If it's Buffalo, it could cost McDermott his job. Harbaugh isn't going anywhere. Each team has only one Conference game appearance with these two QBs.

Going nuclear in the 13 seconds game has bought Allen a ton of good will in the public eye, but I’d say they’re about even.

If anything I’d say Lamar needs it slightly more.

Hammock Parties 01-12-2025 10:31 PM

The screaming from Baltimore will be the loudest and screechiest if they lose. Their entire season's purpose is to avenge the AFCCG loss. Yet all they might accomplish is making Lamar and Henry one year closer to death. All without even touching Arrowhead again. Mwa haha!

Allen has more years to spend but the clock ticks faster in Baltimore.

Yeah I think the pressure is going to be on Lamar and McDermott. Unless Allen goes out and throws 3 INT or something.

mr. tegu 01-13-2025 12:09 AM

McDermott isn’t going anywhere. Even if they lost today he wasn’t. Worst he could have done was get on the hot seat for next year if the defense gave up a bunch of points and they lost. They lost for far too long before him to fire him abruptly.

As for Allen vs Lamar and who needs it more it’s tough. Probably Allen since he’s at home and hasn’t won a divisional game in three years.

comochiefsfan 01-13-2025 12:36 AM

Josh absolutely needs it more.

For all his postseason struggles, Lamar is still going to have 3 MVPs.

Josh, if he doesn’t get a ring, will have nothing. No MVPs, no rings, no Super Bowl MVPs.

The pressure is on him to get some kind of accolade.

They both need the win, but I think maybe Allen needs this one more (and yeah if they lose McD could lose his job).

If Allen loses this game, it will be his 3rd consecutive Divisional Round loss at HOME against the 3 other best QBs in the AFC:

- 2021 vs Mahomes @ Arrowhead = LOSS
- 2022 vs Burrow (home game) = LOSS
- 2023 vs Mahomes (home game) = LOSS
- 2024 vs Jackson (home game) = ??

Allen loses this and he will have lost consecutive DIV Round Home games to Burrow, Mahomes, Jackson.

Not good.

It’s going to be hilarious when either Allen or Lamar gets the “can’t win the big one” label tattooed on their forehead next week.

It’s going to be annoying when the other one gets the “best QB in the AFC” label from the Media though.

Ya both losing would have optimal but maybe the winner still has a horrible game .

If it's Allen who loses to Mahomes in the AFCC, just remember...

IT'S NOT HIS FAULT!!!!!

I bet Patrick cares just about as much on the subject as I do

Josh absolutely needs it more.

For all his postseason struggles, Lamar is still going to have 3 MVPs.

Josh, if he doesn’t get a ring, will have nothing. No MVPs, no rings, no Super Bowl MVPs.

The pressure is on him to get some kind of accolade.

I agree. You're on a roll lately.

As soon as they're down by 3, cancel the game for Damar!

I would actually say that Jackson and it’s not really close. He has two MVPs and Allen doesn’t. Plus Allen has been far better in the playoffs than Jackson. His issue was playing at the same time as Mahomes. You put Allen on Baltimore last year and he’s probably winning the SB.

Because Bills, is real. SB winning Ravens QBs are not really household names

MVP's don't mean shit. It's literally a journalist award for the best "story" of that year. Some voters don't want to give it to Lamar because he won it last year.

WTF?

There's no integrity to the award. At all. It's garbage. It's worse than the pro bowl.

In terms of wins in the playoffs Allen and Lamar are similar. But as of this moment Lamar is basically a lock for the HOF. Allen is on the track but he’s got work to do because of the lack of personal hardware. They definitely impact a players legacy.

You have completely jumped the shark with your anti-MVP argument when you claim it’s worse than the Pro Bowl.

No. Patrick won MVP twice and it's a valid part of his HOF resume.

Pro Bowls are great for contract negotiations. MVPs play a huge role in HOF selections. They aren’t even close.

Oh there are really only two possible outcomes.

1) Mahomes loses -- whoever beats him is anointed as the best QB in football.

2) Mahomes wins -- whoever loses has excuse after excuse after excuse made for them and by week 6 of next season when that person is piling up stats against rummies, we rinse and repeat everything we've done the last 2 years.

You lose to Mahomes and you get zero blame for it. You beat Mahomes and you get far more credit than you deserve AND a place atop the NFL hierarchy for (checks Bengals history) at least 3 seasons.

It's silly.

Don’t forget all the hate Pat would get for depriving Allen/Lamar from winning a Superbowl, pure evil.

In responding to the playoff games over the weekend ESPN’s Dan Graziano posted this little nugget when talking about the Ravens vs Steelers.

“Lamar Jackson -- who might win his third regular-season MVP later this month -- might well turn out to be the best football player any of us have ever seen, and they almost didn't need him to win Saturday”.

Well, Dan should learn that words hurt, but hammers hurt worse

now he has as many playoff wins as MVPs

Serious question. Is Bo Nix the best QB Allen has beaten in the playoffs?

Here’s the list.

Bo Nix
Mason Rudolph
Skylar Thompson
Mac Jones
Ancient Philip Rivers
Lamar Jackson/Tyler Huntley (Jackson didn’t play 4th quarter)

It’s probably that Lamar game but it’s honestly a toss up given he left the game and was still pretty raw himself back then.
