Maybe the Tucson folks at AU would consider it. The Phoenix/Scottsdale folks think exactly like Californians when it comes to the Midwest.
Never mind the people in the midwest are worth 100x more as human beings; these pukes don't get it for the most part.

It isn't.

Nebraska has more money, more name recognition, was on the rise anyway, and this little coup they just pulled has done nothing but make it all that much better. Everything Iowa has, they're going to take. Forcibly. Top recruits, top bowl bids, and most importantly, games.

When they're digging your battered players out of the turf of Memorial Stadium, I'm betting you'll wish they were still in the Big XII.

Enjoy. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

It is, they jumped before conference talks could take place, they wanted the jump on aTm.

MU wanted B10 to get away from Texas. MU growled, got played.

baitism 06-14-2010 02:59 PM

The ironic thing for Colorado is it is quite possible their sports teams will get worse. It is going to be hard to get a recruit from a coastal state to go play thousands of miles away and freeze their ass off. Also, midwestern recruits won't want to play there because they don't play any schools around them and won't be on tv.

What is there to dispute dude? You rant like a madman. NU is going to bring about the ruin of Iowa? We've been in the conference with OhioState, Michigan for 100 years and Penn State for 20 years or so. NU is a welcome addition that makes our strong conference stronger.

It would be irony if you were actually right.

CU predominantly recruits in Cali, Arizona, and Texas. They don't recruit the Midwest.

They have more alums in Pac 10 states than Big XII states.

CU had no desire to take place in conference talks. This hasn't been something that's been 2 weeks in the making, it's been discussed for months. CU was leaving once they got the Pac 10 invite, there's nothing that would have happened in these conference talks that could have convinced them to stay.

CU's invitation was independent of Texas' invitation, every other schools' was conditional on a Texas acceptance.

My school being relegated to second tier status? Every school in the nation is 2nd teir status compared to Texas. tOSU comes close but fails miserably in the end. I don't think you have any idea about the power Texas wields. Iowa is complete ****ing garbage compared to Texas. I, honestly, have no issues with my school getting $8,000,000 more per year while staying in its native conference. I don't exactly see how that is a bad thing.

Despite what this board wants to believe? Yes. That's about the only thing Talkins can do. The talent level isn't close to as bad as their record reflects, there's enough talent on the team to get over .500, their coaching staff almost to a man is completely in over its head though.

Again, CU was leaving the Big XII. They weren't staying no matter what Texas or whoever pitched to them.

Yes, CU feels it's in a better situation, that's why they moved. It's where the football team recruits, and it's where the bulk of their out-of-state alumni are.

This had nothing to do with assuming Texas was going with, or it would become a Pac 16. There's a reason why TT, OU, or OSU aren't going to the Pac 10 right now and are trying to save the Big 12, 10, or whatever, it's because they aren't getting invites unless Texas goes too.

Yeah CU used to have some solid teams. When I lived there they were tough when the team wasn't busy knocking up the coach's daughter. CU seems like much more of a P10 than a B12 school to me, alway have.

Yep, CU didn't want to live as second-class citizens chugging UT cock whenever they were told to do so.
That feeling goes deep in Colorado.
When I lived there the popular bumpersticker was "Go Back To Texas and take a Californian with You"
Boulder is WAY more Pac10 than they ever were B12.

B12: (sigh) Permission to speak oh fearless leader without whom there would be no Big12?
UT: That's better. Permission to speak granted.

104.9 The Horn DID NOT report that Air Force and BYU would be two new Big12 teams.

If Utah and BYU bolt, Boise St and the Mountain West took it on the chin really bad.

As a MU fan a Big 12 North with AF and BYU sure looks a lot better then having OU and OSU moved up North and up our ass every year. All things considered would love getting BYU but would be shocked at the Air Force move.

Air Force brings Colorado market back in plus the AFN.

Eh...no one gives a shit about Air Force athletics.

No, USC at least 5 years away from returning to contending in the Pac 10, look at who is their HC.

He'll leave after next year to coach the Bears.

Nope.

USC will be back in national title contention in 2012.

Alabama was given essentially the same penalty and they won it all last year.

Contrary to what most people in the Midwest believe or know, the guys that chose USC do it for one reason only: It's the best path to the NFL. The overwhelming majority of players at USC are interested in getting to the NFL.

USC is a young team. When they're eligible for post season play, their starting QB will be a senior.

Ahhemm, the Wolverine is the largest of the Weasel family and you just joined them. Don't forget those pesky Badgers too.

Yea, I think the death of USC has been greatly exaggerated.

USC will be back in 2016, if they they are lucky, no more stockpiling QB's, RB's and WB's.

I wish. USC will be just fine; their penalty may be reduced upon appeal and even if not they are a fugging factory.

ok, so what are your thoughts on this?

Nebraska and the Big Ten got played by Texas.

You know the history. NEB hates Texas. Texas probably hates NEB just as much and knows they'd have a better time in the league without Nebraska. More so, once NEB was gone and it looked like the league was gonna fall apart, Texas stepped in to save everything. That couldn't have happened with NEB in the league.

Now, about a week ago, there was a rumor floating around that TEX had an invite to the B10, which they said they would not consider unless NEB was invited as well. The B10, calling Texas out, invited NEB and they accepted. So now they're out, and TEX gets to be the hero, save the league, and wrangled a new TV contract out of Fox in the process.

I realize in terms of money and academic prestige, the B10 is better. Hell, I still hope Ol Mizzou gets an invite. But....

Was this DeLoss Dodds' most triumphant power play?

KcMizzou 06-14-2010 04:46 PM

Well, after all this... I'm just ready to have some games to watch.

I'm burnt out on conference expansion stuff.

Sorry Dude, you're wrong.

USC probably won't even miss a beat on the recruiting trail. And FTR, I'm no USC fan. My wife's a UCLA grad.

That's a no-go in this house.

:D

Larry Scott just said Texas confirmed they aren't going anywhere.

Right. Not really what I was trying to say.

Buck 06-14-2010 04:51 PM

Can someone catch me up on the current developments?

I heard that the Big 12 is staying together, but they are inviting BYU and AF? Any word on Utah?

I hope the MWC bands together right now, but who knows.
