Wife and I are planning our 10 year for next year by visiting Portland, Maine.
Beautiful area with a shit ton of breweries. Anyone been to the area and can give recommendations? Allagash and Definitive are currently set in stone. |

High Roller Lobster Club and their lobster roll flights are amazing. Gilbert's Chowder House and Scales are really good, and Gilbert's has chowder flights. Bramhall is a great speakeasy. I was only there for a long weekend and would love to spend a few months there one day. If you can make the 2 hour drive down to Boston, Treehouse and Trillium are totally worth the trip alone. |
There's some BA Speedway Stouts hitting the valley
I liked, not loved, Coffee Cake Also if any of you fellow Phoenicians are going to the Southwest Belgian Fest on Saturday, I'll be pouring at one the stations https://i.imgur.com/dLWUv8Y.jpg |

I might have to snag it if it's there on Friday. Has anyone had anything from 903 before? There stuff is either great, or just disappointing. |

Sat near Columbia uni having a great DIPA from Other Half called Juice Collector. Went to an awesome craft beer bar in Harlem for a few beforehand but the walk back to the metro station at night was a bit ropey. I'll tick off going through 'the hood' on my to do list.

Was my hangout for a few years. Great food. |
Hell, can you really say you visited the US if you didn't get shot...

Do not miss the pastrami on rye at Katz. Please take a picture so I can salivate!

Phisherman is the second CP'er I've had the pleasure of meeting IRL, and he was a solid dude. Very gracious and very knowledgeable on beer. Having the opportunity to share a beer with him and chat a bit made our trip that much better. KC, in general, is a fantastic city. Every time I visit, I want to stay. During this trip, the wife and I were actually discussing the possibility of retiring to KC eventually. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk |
Had a BKS ipa at Oak and Steel. Was the best beer I've had in the US so far.

We are lucky in KC to have what we have. An embarrassment of riches, if you will. Try Alma Mader too; you're not that far away. |

I had Chocolate Hills from Phase 3 last night.
Liquid Cocoa Puffs. Outstanding. |

Worth it.

Alma Mader has fantastic beer. Great people there too.

Definitely super people there too. Owners are great folks, bar staff is great, beers are great. Can't miss! |

Poured at the inaugural Southwest Belgian Fest today (our club made about $2.5K in kickbacks and we need a new A/C for our clubhouse for the love of ****ing god)
I poured for Barrel of Monks out of Florida, pretty good Tripel I'm not the biggest Belgian beer fan but the Trappist beers were great Not the best but the most memorable beer was Kerel Kaishaku. Sake yeast, low grain, yet at 15%. Think honey might be used as a fermentable with some fruity esters from the Sake yeast Anyway, after you've defeated all the other craft beer nerds you must face the final bosses https://i.imgur.com/1bhRqZu.jpg https://i.imgur.com/k07DF5a.jpg https://i.imgur.com/klwpeMl.jpg |
Some cool guy at a bar gave me a bottle of this barrel aged stout from Side Project. Will crack it open with a mate when I'm back home.

Nice.... and Cycle is legit, too.

Got this bad boy in today. 20% - and a measly $48.99/bottle. Gonna be a pass for me, unfortunately. |
We need a movement to "make beer affordable again".

Made it up to Fate today for King Size
My thoughts:
Solid C+ imo https://i.imgur.com/iqAy5yE.jpg |

And yeah, I would drink something like a Belching Beaver Peanut Butter Stout before drinking the regular Candy Bar.... King Sized is a lot bolder and I really enjoy the flavor, but yeah not a ton of barrel. https://y.yarn.co/58130623-9312-47ba...b0c17_text.gif If you're ever at the south Scottsdale location, there's a small place called Rift that usually has some nice things on tap and a lot of cans/bottles ---> https://www.riftbaraz.com/product/bo...&category_id=2 |
If you guys around Missouri happen to be able to find the Missouri Brewers collaboration beer I would recommend snagging a 4 pack.
Its a Triple NEIPA and even at 10% its extremely crushable and juicy. Best NEIPA I've had in a while. Don't pay attention to the color in the pic, it's much brighter and more orange in real life, the lighting in my kitchen sucks ass or my camera on my phone or both. https://i.imgur.com/6GSnSLm_d.jpeg?m...&fidelity=high |
Dragons Milk Reserve S'mores tonight. I like that it's not overly sweet

While the Oatmeal Cookie is good, I was a little disappointed. |
Stout season!
Ok so it's 82°, but it's 5 o'clock somewhere and stout season somewhere. https://i.imgur.com/JMDaL7S.jpeg |
25lbs of BA stout/barleywine and a kilt RR SiB
Beers got delivered later in the evening and I was already into a bourbon Hoping to crack 1 or 2 after a Chiefs win today https://i.imgur.com/NBO8HVk.jpg |
Wish I could find Barleywines more around KC. Much prefer those over most RIS

2 of those are technically ryewines |

Just drinking a Deschutes Black Butte Porter. Only 5.5% as I wanted a lighter ABV and not fall asleep during Chiefs game.

Wife and I will be in KC late March/early April for my 40th.
I think we intend on staying at hotel in or near the arts district. Any bars with a wide array of taps near there, or breweries? |
Drekker/Other Half collab... not the most amazing IPA, but pretty tasty.

Maybe Taps on Main, but can be inconsistent The Belfry And one place that's probably way under the radar due to location is Barley's Kitchen + Tap in the burbs, and the one at 435/Midland tends to have the better list from the handful of times I've compared. |

King G Grinders (very hit or miss) BKS is the best brewery in KC by a mile Unrelated, but if you like sushi, hit up Kata Nori - in the crossroads |
Just noticed this place in NKC... old school video games and some local beer.

So opinions on the following KC breweries?
I already know the heavyweights but want to try some newer/unknown-to-me places when I'm there in a couple weeks: Vine St Pathlight Sandhills Limitless Boho Transport Also don't care about food, have intentionally left some off as they won't be open while I'm around and bonus points if they're IPA centric TIA |
Quote:
The rest of the places you listed there are iffy at best. |

Sand hills was pretty solid, rock creek (I have never been) is very close by in Mission Pathlight and limitless have been hugely disappointing (to me) Transport is trying to get people to hate beer. How they opened another spot in Gartner is a mystery Maybe try Discourse in OP? If you go to Friction (I wouldn't), Servaes is across the street. Their IPAs aren't good (to me) but their stout game is decent. Wild Child and Drastic Measures are cocktail bars in Shawnee (right next to Friction) and are absolutely fantastic |
Picked up a tin at the brewery a few years ago, but hadn't ever tried it... great double IPA, had it on tap the other night, too, followed by Hoof Hearted $120 Nachos Triple IPA.

Lochiel Brewing is a real gem here in Mesa. Not sure I've ever seen a more neighborhood-y brewery. Their Scotch ale recipe is like 300 years old and incredible
Yesterday they sold me this 21.8% barleywine in a crowler LMAO Quote:
|
21.8% ?????
Good lord that is potent. |
Need to get back to O.S.H.O as it's been a while and really like some of their specialty beers.
Their North Scottsdale location, where I normally go to, was closed for a while for renovations and haven't been there since they reopened. Sunday with no NFL games sounds like a good day to go..... |

I have business by them every 2 weeks so I'll stop in for a pint and its like how I imagine being in Scotland is like, minus the industrial park LMAO |
Went here today to the Iron and Ale Lynchburg Tap and Table
Awesome beers on rotation http://ironandale.com/drinks/ Food was good too. |
We're finally starting to get distro for Drekker's stouts up here in Green Bay.
I'm so excited. |
I had a North Park triple a few weeks ago and thought maybe their DIPAs were the sweet spot of perfection, but this is as good of a North Park IPA that I've tried.

My triple IPA & imperial stout can buying days are behind me. I can deal with a 1/3 pint measure at a bar but whenever I buy a can I can never justify opening one unless I'm already ****ed. And if I am ****ed then I'm a) not going to appreciate it and b) going to get even more ****ed.

Too often I'll feel like complete shit once the sugar crash hits and will be lucky to get a decent night's sleep... a ~10% double/triple IPA doesn't have nearly the impact though. |

Didn't hit nearly enough spots that I would have liked to while we were in KC.
Mind you, we stayed downtown with no access to a vehicle unless my parents wanted to taxi us around. Some of the places we ate and drank: Jack Stack Taps on Main Boulevard Ponak's Best beer I had on the trip was a Strawberry Shortcake IPA. I wasn't overly impressed with the selection, and I realize most of that was our own fault. Next time we'll make more of an effort to get out to see and do more. |
Alma Mader is the best for beers in that area. It's just a couple of doors down from Boulevard on Southwest Boulevard. Put in on the "must go" list for next time.

Also, we went to Rochester Brewery, or something.
Terrible. |

I walked in ordered a North Park IPA and scanned their board while drinking it and was like OH SHIT a PVW Black Magick |
