Maybe that's why they have Toney practicing?

Spags sounds pretty damn enthusiastic about FAU today in his presser. He’s gonna play next week.

FAU has 2.5 sacks in the game.

You are worried about the wrong D.

Against one of the league's top OL? Even if FAU had more reps this season, that's a tough matchup for any rookie.

FAU gets moved around but has a few good reps against the Silverback.

It's probably not the game, but my God... if FAU has his coming out party in the Super Bowl...

He has absolutely wrecked games in college. I've SEEN it.

(Again, total homer post and I know it's unlikely, but **** it.)

Huh.

I mean, In Spags I Trust.

If he's happy about it, maybe it's all gonna work out.

JTB1974 02-02-2024 07:34 PM

Jennings kind of gets lost in the shuffle but he has been one of Purdy's favorite 3rd down targets and is the Niners most physical WR. They nickname him 3rd and Juan because he catches everything on 3rd down. They probally don't win that Packers game without him. If Chiefs are looking for a WR in the offseason he would be perfect for Mahomes, He's a free agent and will look to get paid but won't break the bank. He's not fast but he's a good route runner, Big and physical and doesn't drop passes. I am hoping the Niners re-sign him but he might price himself out.

Megatron96 02-02-2024 07:36 PM

About the only thing I might worry about would be either Shannahan going against his own precedent and having Kittle targeted 10+ times in this game, and/or Purdy just finding the zone and having the game of his life.

Kind of what Hurts did in the first half of the SB last year, but Purdy doing something like that for the entire game, not just the first half.

If Purdy comes out with is hair on fire and just doesn't miss for 60 minutes, with all their weapons, that would be a real problem.

But I don't see either happening, so I figure the Chiefs will find a way to win. It'll be close, but a W for KC.

This seems like a poor matchup for FAU. The 9ers challenge the perimeter of a defense more than almost any team. Holding up against the run and setting the edge will be key.

If we can get a lead and force them to throw their way back into it, he could probably get some good time in for pure pass situations.

I don’t really want to see him on the edge with the 49ers full playbook available.

So Kittle missed practice all week with his toe problem and both him and Shanahan are being vague about it. He's gonna play but in the last game he only had a few targets so is he being used as a decoy and a blocker due to the injury now? That's something Spags has to figure out.

Also Greg Cosell has said San Fran are one of the worst defenses on 3rd down and have been ineffective rushing just four.
