The Big Ten is in the final stages of adding Oregon and Washington as it expands to 18 teams, industry sources tell @RossDellenger and me. Ducks and Huskies have informed other Pac 12 schools they intend to leave.

Pac 12 killed themselves.

Oregon and Washington would begin play in the fall of 2024. The schools are expected to take a cut rate of the Big Ten media rights revenue.
https://twitter.com/danwetzel/status...n6FHKMqlrjZx2w The departure of Ducks and Huskies leaves the Pac 12 in uncertain times. Arizona has an offer to move to the Big 12. Arizona State and Utah could follow. League was already at just nine schools with the 2024 defections of USC, UCLA and Colorado. https://twitter.com/danwetzel/status...n6FHKMqlrjZx2w Big Ten is expected to meet shortly to finalize the invitation and terms of the expansion. https://twitter.com/danwetzel/status...n6FHKMqlrjZx2w |
**** it, absorb what’s left of the PAC and tell Norte Dame, “Hey, we got Stanford, just sayin’…”
Fantasyland pipe dream I know. Still fun to think about. |
Oregon and Washington’s imminent departure is expected to set off more moves within the Pac-12, sources tell @YahooSports, as Arizona and the Big 12 inched closer to a marriage last night

Sources: Big Ten expected to move ahead with formal offer letters for Oregon and Washington. A Big Ten vote is expected to take place later today to formalize their admission, barring any last-minute snags.
https://twitter.com/petethamel/statu...n6FHKMqlrjZx2w Sources: While there had been some initial pushback, the Big Ten vote is expected to be unanimous. First signature move of Tony Petitti's stint as Big Ten commissioner is on the cusp. https://twitter.com/petethamel/statu...n6FHKMqlrjZx2w |
NEWS: The Big Ten is going to invite Oregon and Washington to join the league, source tells @TheAthletic.

The belief is that the Arizona Board of Regents - which controls both Arizona and ASU - wishes for both to compete in the same conference.
While Arizona’s deal with the Big 12 reaches the goal line, Arizona State’s situation is less certain but should clear soon. https://twitter.com/rossdellenger/st...n6FHKMqlrjZx2w |
Arizona/ASU/Utah avoided having to defect until the last moment possible.
Oregon needed last-second convincing to join the freaking Big Ten. George K had 13 months to deliver a TV deal that, if even slightly better, keeps the conference together. A failure of epic proportions. https://twitter.com/slmandel/status/...n6FHKMqlrjZx2w |
As reported last night, Big Ten’s offer to Oregon and Washington - if plans didn’t change - was expected to be a partial share (👇). Other details are unclear, but this reduced rate likely convinced B1G powers like Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan and USC to agree to the move.

So now it's the Pac 7? Soon to be Pac 5, or maybe Pac 4?
|
All of this supposed hesitancy by Arizona State and Utah to join the Big 12… Yormark should tell them to stay in the collapsing Pac 6 and just add Arizona.
