Interesting and today was the day the Apple offer expires

Sources indicating to me and @CFBHeather that the Pac-12 is unlikely to land the plane this morning and get its media rights deal signed on this call today. Multiple variables at play here, including 11th hour Big Ten push for Oregon and Washington. Everything remains fluid.

EXCLUSIVE: Florida State University is working with JPMorgan Chase to explore how the school’s athletic department could raise capital from institutional funds, such as private equity

Well this might explain why they’re so confident they can afford to break the GOR

Pac-12 unable to get Grant of Rights signed this morning & "nothing has changed" as far as Oregon & Washington joining Big Ten, sources told @ActionNetworkHQ. Ducks & Huskies still expected to be Big Ten bound when finances are worked out, sources said

The SEC or the Big 10 aren’t clamoring to add Florida State.

That’s the inconvenient fact for FSU as they are trying to break out of the ACC.

KingPriest2 08-04-2023 09:10 AM

A Big 10 call has been scheduled for today to discuss Oregon and Washington.

I agree. Because ESPN won’t pay more when they can pay less

Only way they can is get other schools and present the value of the ganes. Alan Ana. FSU.
FSU Ohio state
Clemson Michagan
Clemson LSU

You get the picture. They have to show the value to edpn in order to pay more when they’re already paying less for the same team

Pac 12 couldn't close a Grant of Rights deal this morning. Fate of league likely rests on if Oregon can make a deal with the Big Ten. There is hesitancy among many in Big Ten about logistics of 18 team league, travel to Eugene. Money usually wins out in these things. We'll see.

Sources indicate to WildcatAuthority that Washington is very concerned with the Apple deal.

Arizona and Arizona State are still on track to join the Big 12.

ASU President Michael Crow is proving to be a stumbling block, but parties involved are confident it can be overcome.

Can confirm @ralphDrussoAP report that there's a Big Ten presidents call now scheduled for today. There wasn't one scheduled early this morning.

Also ESPN can’t pay more now in their current financial situation.

They weren’t even willing to pay to get the SEC to go from 8 to 9 regular season conference football games.

It’s a roller coaster: Minutes before Pac-12 presidents meeting was scheduled to begin, Oregon officials expressed further concerns about Apple deal, sources tell @YahooSports.

Pac-12 now not expected to resolve GoR this morning. @ralphDrussoAP reported a Big Ten meeting later.

https://twitter.com/rossdellenger/st...n6FHKMqlrjZx2w

As reported earlier, the Pac-12's survival is likely contingent on avoiding the loss of two more schools, specifically Washington and Oregon.

Oregon officials are wanting more from the Apple deal. UO-Big Ten situation remains fluid.

https://twitter.com/rossdellenger/st...n6FHKMqlrjZx2w

The Pac-12’s survival is contingent on keeping intact at least 8 of the current 9 members.

A loss of 2 more schools - either Arizona/ASU to Big 12 OR Oregon/Washington to Big Ten - is seen as a likely recipe for collapse. As P12 leaders enter their meeting, neither has happened.

https://twitter.com/rossdellenger/st...n6FHKMqlrjZx2w

An important part of this: the reluctance from Pac-12 schools - and the blame that may follow - to kill a 108-yr-old conference, sources tell @YahooSports.

Another factor: the pushback from the Big Ten's powerhouse programs in further expansion, something they have been against.

Very true

FloridaMan88 08-04-2023 09:31 AM

It’s been like two years of trying and failing to get a viable new media rights for the Pac 12… the schools with options to get out need to see through this last minute bullshit and leave.

If Big 12 adds Arizona and ASU, they'll need a 16th team
