Do we think that he has some plugs or sliding inserts that he puts in to eat and drink? Because I don't think it's going to work well otherwise.

Would be fun to watch him be thrown into a lake with cinder blocks tied to his ankles. Just deep enough to watch him try hold his breath. |
I'd love to see some statistics on that intersection.
Is it more or less time efficient than using traffic lights? Are there more or less accidents as compared to normal intersections? |
Watching the people cross the street was like watching a game of Frogger.

A massive intersection full of chaos like the one above, though? Gotta be some wrecks, right? |

My guess would be that their system has a lot more minor wrecks and our system has a lot fewer wrecks, but perhaps they're more serious on average. Our system is based on people following rules strictly, which means you don't have to pay attention as much. When something bad happens, it's probably because neither driver saw it coming. There, the system is based on hypervigilance and aggression, so I bet the wrecks involve both drivers paying attention and just being unable to avoid each other. Just a theory. I'm not sure how your German example fits. I'm talking about U.S. versus third world. |

This one has been posted here before, but is also fun. Highlights are the person wearing white in the bottom of the frame walking across teh street that gets caught between a car and moped at about the :36 mark, and the white car at the top that goes against traffic starting at about the 1:20 mark. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/RjrEQaG5jPM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

I have to use one often when I'm travelling near work and some people just don't get it. Inevitably, you're going to have some people that are trying to enter the roundabout thinking they have the right-of-way so they don't yield and damn near get t-boned. Then you have the people that are in the roundabout that think the people trying to enter have the right-of-way so you create a small traffic jam because the movement inside of roundabout has stopped. Probably the biggest issue, though, is that most people don't come to a full stop and either just want to get where they're going quickly or want to beat the oncoming traffic inside the roundabout, so they're so busy looking to the left that they never bother to look to their right (since they know traffic won't come from that direction). That creates a problem if there are pedestrians looking to cross while someone blows through the outlet into the roundabout. Nothing is perfect though. Just speaking about my perception. |

Now I’m wondering if it wasn’t an air compressor. I noticed the back end of the car drops to the ground right when it pops so I’m wondering if he didn’t have an air bag rear suspension and the air tank let go. |
Quote:
Maybe one of those air compressor tanks you fill up and it sits in the back of a hot car and increases pressure to the point of explosion? There would be no fire with compressed air |

http://www.twincities.com/localnews/...walmart-driver The 53-year-old driver of a minivan who was injured shortly after noon Sunday when a propane tank in his vehicle exploded has been identified. Alan M. Nielsen of St. Paul was returning to the minivan when the 12:16 p.m. blast blew out all the minivan's doors and windows, sending shattered glass into University Avenue in St. Paul, according to a police report. The Dodge Caravan was parked in a lot outside Walmart at 1450 University Ave. when the 100-pound tank blew up, said Deputy Chief Pat Smith of the St. Paul Fire Department. As Nielsen returned to the minivan, and he "either turned the car on or he lit a cigarette -- I don't want to speculate on either one -- there was a spark from something," Smith said. "It was a significant explosion." Nielsen, who was alone in the vehicle, was taken to Regions Hospital with burn and concussion injuries, Smith said. Nielsen was listed in good condition at Regions Hospital on Monday morning. Firefighters determined that a leak in the propane tank had caused it to explode. Smith said a 100-pound tank is significantly larger than the type that would power a barbecue grill. It measured about 5 feet high and 1 foot in diameter, he estimated. Mara H. Gottfried contributed to this report. Emily Gurnon can be reached at 651-228-5522. Follow her at twitter.com/emilygurnon. |
