Karlaftis
Thornhill
Gay
Sneed
FAU

That's pretty good. I haven't seen any talking heads do better.

Literally all of the rest of the smoke around the draft was just smoke. Theres no reason to believe that veach was going to telegraph Mazi to Nate.

If you pay attention to what the Chiefs like you can get a pretty good read on the players they'll go for.

I called Wanya Morris.

Warrick 05-02-2023 08:30 PM

Congrats u2, but I think if the Chiefs were successful in trading up for a player they really wanted in the first round (::cough:: Harrison) we'd be looking at your other mock draft(s) for a player ;)

Mitch is a K-State alum, and has already used his current nickname, King Felix, in the Chiefs produced YouTube videos discussing the draft picks.

ThyKingdomCome15 05-03-2023 01:49 AM

I called McDuffie and Nick Bolton when the Chiefs were on the clock. So I'm cool too.

I also called Metcalf and George Pickens over Hardman and Skyy. Skyy has time to prove Veach right but Hardman over Metcalf debate would have been solved quickly had Mahomes been able to have one throwing session with them. We corrected that this year, Rice is our guy, he's coming for Jerry.

MVChiefFan 05-03-2023 04:30 AM

Look at how many times his DC ran 3 man rushes. No 3 tech to help him out and he still had 89 pressures and 19.5 sacks his last 2 years as a 19 and 20 year old.

See if you notice the same thing I do.

He typically plays with good leverage/pad level inside. But on the instances that he ends up going outside, he seems to lose it. I don't know what would cause that other than just a bad habit.

When he's going inside, he seems to recognize that he's gonna have to be the low man because he's entering the valley of the giants and he ain't that. But it looks like he can be stood up a bit when he goes outside. Maybe he's just a little too eager because he thinks he has a chance to eat and maybe avoid a little contact for a play or two?

Because he'll need to get some dip in there if he's really going to bend the edge against quality OTs.

That sounds good to me. We have him for 2 years, so hopefully if he has a good year, the Chiefs will rework his deal and add a few years. I think that the reason most of us are sleeping on him is because he signed so cheap. Cheap signings are often just fringe role players. I would love to see that he's much more than that.

Agreed, he hasn't had to bend around the pocket much to get his production. Not saying he can't, just saying he historically hasn't had to. Dude has an arsenal of moves with the bull rush, the two hand swipe, the ghost arm, the swip / rip, spin, fighting through doubles, etc... If he can master the bend, then things could get real icky.

We're so lucky to have Cullen coaching the line. I have faith that he can coach him up to correct those issues.

He absolutely has shown he can bend, but it's a lot more difficult to do with the way they used him and had him lining up (4i).

There just weren't many opportunities for him to rush from a wide 9, but when he did, he showed that bend.

I think another reason a lot of Chiefs fans are sleeping on him is that he was out when we boat-raced them in their own house last season.

I watched them quite a bit last season and he's a really good, disruptive player with tons of upside in my opinion.

ChiefsFanatic 05-03-2023 03:44 PM

Before we drafted King Felix, did anyone else know that if you sack the QB, and he fumbles the ball, and the ball goes beyond the line of scrimmage, its no longer a sack?

That just sounds stupid to me. A sack should be a sack no matter where the ball ends up after a fumble. I do not understand this rule.

poolboy 05-03-2023 03:54 PM

I will take those strip sacks all day long..It does suck he didnt get the record because he did too much

I guess that was what Mitch was referring to when he said that Felix had 4 sacks in a game, was 6 before 2 were taken away on a technicality. Wow! Yeah, those sacks should stand.

If you don't see the potential here, you're a ****ing moron.

O.city 08-14-2023 08:32 PM

I think he's already a more polished player thank Karlaftis was late in the year.

Dunerdr 08-14-2023 08:34 PM

This is the hammer, Karlaftis is the anvil. They will beat quarterbacks between them for the next 10 years.

O.city 08-14-2023 08:37 PM

I just really like this pick the more I watch this guy. The athleticism and the bend showing up already.

I've got an idea of who he reminds me of, but I'll get ran out of here.

Coach 08-14-2023 08:45 PM

Just remember folks, he's just 21 years old.

He's a little light on setting the edge on run plays (for now) but that can be corrected once he gets into the NFL S&C.

But his pass rush moves are advanced for his age.

Once the package all comes together, he may be a special player.

O.city 08-14-2023 08:47 PM

He reminds me alot of TJ Watt coming into the league. There I said it.

maybe in the 90’s. We ain’t signing both after their rookie deals. The numbers are already effecting Jones. It’s only going to get worse.

DJ's left nut 08-14-2023 08:54 PM

Yeah, that was an encouraging game. As much as anything, I was happy that he just looked thicker than I expected.

Clearly he's not a finished product, but he's a guy who can play right this very minute and produce. He'll be better than Frank Clark was, I have no doubt about that. Hell, I could see him being better than Karlaftis, and I like Furious George.

Oh I think....he's already better than Karlaftis? I like Karlaftis but he's just not the most dynamic guy. Which, again, is fine because he doesn't need to be.

The first snap in which i remembered to watch him was ugly.

But it may have been the only ugly snap i saw of his because as i continued to watch i became impressed with his bend and get off. He's off to a good start.

Let's hope he plays with the same intensity that TJ Watt plays with, and not the Frank-Clark-Regular-Season-Apathy level of intensity.

I thought so too. All Karlaftis really had at this point was a bull rush and a shitty spin move. FAU has already shown quite a bit more in one game. Like you mentioned too, he was also pretty good with his hands

This. It looks like this kid can really play.

Man, who downvotes saying "he could be a better pass-rusher than Karlaftis" - it's not a dunk on Karlaftis you dimwit.

duncan_idaho 08-15-2023 09:54 AM

Tools were evident on Saturday. I think he's going to be a good player and a nice complement to the whole package.

By the end of the year, running out Anudike-Uzomah, Omenihu, Jones, and Karlaftis should be a pretty effective pass rush package.

It takes a special sort of dickweed to sleepwalk through 80% of a long-term contract.

Typically that doesn't surface until AFTER someone gets paid...

31. Felix Anudike-Uzomah, EDGE, Chiefs
Grade: A

FAU played fast and bendy as a rusher in his NFL preseason debut against the Saints. He had a win a pure outside rush, was quick to flash an inside counter to beat a blocker and demonstrated his patented hustle on his third pressure. It really looked like he was playing at Kansas State again.

Felix the Cat and Furious George are going to be a great duo.

Dunerdr 08-15-2023 11:53 AM

I ****ing love this god damn pick. We haven’t had a true two sided pass rush since Hali and Houston. Unless you count that half season where dee ford was ok.

Big Cat.

Box jumper never deserved that nickname.

AdolfOliverBush 08-15-2023 11:55 AM

I'm still hoping the nickname "F.U." catches on.

This quote from his nfl.com draft profile fits well:

“He doesn’t have that much starting experience but he’s already a way savvier rusher than he should be at this stage.” -- Regional scout for AFC team
I wasn't too deep INT he draft discussion this year but I do remember talking to staylor about the surprisingly fast below 7 second 3 cone this guy had at 255 lbs.

I think Karlaftis is pretty capped at what he can do. A lot of what he does is his work ethic, but FAU has him beat technically and athletically. It's not a slight on George either bc I think his work with Tamba will really help him this year.

Just seems weird that people think the DL is horrific without Jones. Yes Jones is elite but there is talent there around him.

One thing I've heard about Felix is that he has a high football IQ and understands how to formulate a pass rush plan. They says he's a guy that is going to interview well and win teams over that way.

That might be why he goes a little higher than expected.

Kiimo 08-15-2023 12:28 PM

I mean technically everyone is capped with what they can do so I don't really understand that one.

ChiefsFan63 08-15-2023 12:30 PM

I like Felix a lot. He even signed my wife's jersey after practice last week. He really seems like a good dude. Watching in practice, he needs to get off the ball a little quicker. When he gets started on time he does some good things. I have a lot of hope for his future.

Lzen 08-15-2023 12:53 PM

I like his moves in that clip but his get off was kind of slow. I'm hoping that will be something that improves throughout the season.
