CUT CANDIDATES
In being part of two penalties on his first preseason snap last week, totaling negative receiving yards for the game, Toney perfectly encapsulated his Chiefs experience to this point -- and the reality that’s staring him and the team in the face. The Chiefs might no longer have room for the player they once traded multiple draft picks for and who once helped them win a Super Bowl. Toney had a disastrous Week 1 last year, couldn’t hold onto his WR or punt-return roles and was inactive for the Super Bowl in February. Injuries have been a consistent issue for him, but the bottom line is that Toney clearly hasn’t proven his worth this preseason, even after Andy Reid tried to turn up the pressure a bit through the media. Even with Marquise Brown’s injury, it’s hard to see a path where Toney is in the Chiefs’ plans this season. https://www.nfl.com/news/2024-nfl-ro...-traded-or-cut |
I guess you can IR a guy prior to cut-down now.
Only way I see Toney making the team is if they IR Brown. And the only way I see him surviving Brown being activated is if he's active (which seems like a long-shot) and impactful in the first 2 weeks. IF the team puts Brown on the IR and IF they find the trust to give Toney a real shot as a gameday active and WR3, I think he'll take the opportunity and run with it. But the ship may have sailed. They clearly value his talent but I just don't think they trust the guy a bit. And he really has nobody to blame but himself for that. |
You cut him. He'd rather be Young Joka
|
He should've been cut mid-season last year.

Giving Moore additional snaps? There's never been a reason to dump him apart from being punitive and that's not something an NFL team should be doing. Nobody ever forced him off the roster. This year things appear quite different in that regard. The addition of Brown and Worthy, as well as the retention of Hardman and possible development of Ross (who looks better, if still not quite an versatile contributor) have changed the calculus for him substantially. |

If Toney makes the team I will shoot my mom
Mahomes hates him. Hes toxic on the field. Lazy. Actively makes the team worse. |

You don't cut a player in a fit of pique. The Chiefs didn't have a better option. |

I'll trade a 3rd/6th every year for a player that made a play that turns around a SB from a loss to a win. That momentum and field position changed everything. Thanks for that but he's doesnt seem interested in football, cut him and lets see if he becomes a successful rapper.

We will always have this. Thanks for this. The rest of your time here, ya can **** off.

If it wasn’t for Toney, we wouldn’t have that Taylor swift song.
/my wife told the that. Honest. |

And people stop with the we wouldn't have won the SB without him. We were winning during that punt return and any good and bad in the return is largely a product of Dave Toub and the blocking scheme. He is still two-time SB champion Kadarius Toney and hopefully he doesn't speak ill will of us in his rap songs that will get 237 views on Spotify. |

He did have the longest SB punt return of all time in that game, as well as a TD. Can’t ever take that away from him. |

100% won’t end up on IR with the Chargers

I’d like to remind everyone that KT did kind of help us win a Super Bowl. I had high hopes for this dude, but it doesn’t always work out. He is still a big part of our history, and I appreciate the memory.

A) **** him...
B) He's going to be motivated for at least two games a year, we need to be ready for that. I'm sure he more than wants to beat the Chiefs.. |

Veach basically saying that Toney causes his own injury bad luck by not conditioning properly during the offseason.
Very true. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GWLEHOdX...pg&name=medium |
I really hope they plan to play him. That would be such a blessing for us.

I can’t say I’m sad to see KT gone. Wish he’d have worked out. But I think both KT and the Chiefs needed to part ways at this point. Wish him well, and thx for helping us win a SB.
|
Sooo.... He's still a free agent, yeah? Thought he'd signed with the Chargers or something.
|
So glad this mother****er is not ****ing my team anymore
|
Win-Win. Chiefs open up a roster spot and Toney has time to focus on his on his music career.
|
He's a bright kid. A smart kid. Why has nobody signed Kadarius yet?!

He definitely helped us win a Super Bowl the first year he was here and I’m happy for that.
But after last year and especially how he didn’t redeem himself in this year‘s preseason, I’m glad to see him gone. We definitely do not need him. And I doubt he is ever going to come back to haunt us. He just doesn’t have the character, intelligence, durability or hands to back up his skills. |
Yung Joka revenge tour

I thought he was a Charger?
9/3 Former Kansas City Chiefs receiver and returner Kadarius Toney visited the Seahawks on Tuesday, per ESPN’s Field Yates. The 2021 first-round pick of the New York Giants was let go by the reigning two-time Super Bowl champs in roster cuts. |
The NY guys said lazy and injured all the time. We got out of him a great deal.
|
Quote:
I appreciate what he did, but we win would have won without him. |
Per Field Yates of ESPN, Toney had a tryout on Friday with the Browns. Maybe working his way back East.

FACT: Chiefs have not won a Super Bowl since cutting Kadarius Toney. (Just teeing up the next DeBerg thread.) |
He's no three time Chiefs SB champ Blake Bell(not in SB 55 or 59)
|
Yeah, maybe if you would have grabbed the ball like that you’d still be on the team.
|
Oh, Kadarius. Yet another waste of million dollar talent due to a 10 cent head.
What a shame, I honest to God thought the dude was going to light it the hell up here, as did Veach and Reid, obviously. So sad. |
Toney has an easy defense for this alleged crime… his hands can’t get a firm grip to strangle… refer to his NFL career tape for proof.
|
Really?
Nobody? Ok fine. Yung Choka. |
Wild. I think I predicted this eventuality (arrest/prison) for KT right after he got cut.
|
What, did she steal his eyebrows?
|
I know he had a habit of choking, but this is ridiculous.
|
Maybe they will make like Toney and drop the charges.
(groan) |
|
it's only the second-worst NFL choke this week.
|
Two things:
1. Players like Toney don’t “retire” from pro sports. You can’t walk away from something you don’t have — a job. 2. He always thought of himself more as a rapper than a football player. That’s why the NFL is “retiring” him (not vice versa).

𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚: Kadarius Toney went on IG live and said that he is retiring from the NFL and wants to be considered a rapper instead of a football player.

Yung Joka is now the name he prefers to be called. pic.twitter.com/Dxq4RSl82S
— Dov Kleiman (@NFL_DovKleiman) April 17, 2025
 |
