We started this defensive turnaround with Jones on the bench.

We've added Pennel and Suggs.

Clark is healthy.

We've got this.

Nope, Romo has been there for at least two wins against the Raiders. Maybe 3 of them. He was there for the Jaguars win last season too. He was there for the win at New England this season as well.

I think the defense is going to play well, but Watson will make some throws due to communication breakdowns in the secondary. Thornhill has started all year and played most of the snaps at FS. Fuller is new to safety. Sorensen isn’t a deep safety. Watts is inexperienced. I think Watson is going to make some down field throws that will keep the pressure on Pat to keep pouring more and more gas on the fire.

Mahomes and Watson are going to try to put on a big show. Our defense will definitely make lots of plays, but their offense will, too.

So 2 starters out.

Chief Northman 01-12-2020 01:24 PM

The defense has been the bright spot of this team for several weeks now. While the offence has been decent, it’s had spurts of ineffective play.

The collective psyche of the team could be a bit rattled with the late breaking news of Jones being inactive today.

The offence is relatively as healthy as it has been all season, I am happy about Wis sliding in for today’s game. The offence needs to leave no doubt today and channel it’s 2018 season explosiveness. Leave no doubt. Help out your defence today that is down a few soldiers....

Sassy Squatch 01-12-2020 01:25 PM

Sammy Watkins better have the game of his life today. Make that contract worth it.

PACHIEFSFAN 01-12-2020 01:25 PM

I see Clark and Suggs putting so much pressure on Watson that he will throw some picks and take some sacks.

PHOG 01-12-2020 01:26 PM

Keep the pedal to the metal Andy, squash 'em

mnchiefsguy 01-12-2020 01:26 PM

Sitting here stewing and thinking. Chiefs scored 24 in just 20 minutes of possession time against Houston...so TOP could be a factor. Give Mahomes an extra 8-10 minutes of posession time and they will score over 30.

It took a turnover inside of the 10 yard line and the worst defensive performance of the year yard wise for Houston to get to 31.

24 is the magic number...if the defense holds them to under 24, I think the Chiefs pull away.

I think the defense can and will do better than that.

pugsnotdrugs19 01-12-2020 01:26 PM

Stay ahead of the chains against the run and Nnadi and Saunders will have a better chance to push that pocket too.

Keep Mahomes healthy and they score 30+. His injury in the 2nd quarter last time was a major factor in that game.

We'll probably be better against the run with Jones out anyway. With Suggs ability to bring pressure don't see it as a huge loss.

No. We will see a huge loss because Jones brings pressure up the middle. That's what gives Watson fits. He can handle it much better coming from the ends. Going to have to create pressure up the middle from another source, and guard against that process causing other problems.

Partially this is true; however, while Nnadi, Pennel and Saunders don't get a lot of sacks, they are pretty good at pushing that pocket back. If Watson's got no room to step up into a pocket, we'll get him.

I beg to differ...Advertisers are going to spend more money for a spot if it's a game with Reid and Mahomes then with Watson and Obrien. Bigger names, and that's a proven fact. The Chiefs\Patriots scored the best ratings since 2016.

Keep him contained in the pocket. Goal isn't even really to sack him. Just avoid the big plays outside the pocket. Titans did that to Lamar and Chiefs need to do that to Deshaun. I'm sure the Texans are hoping to keep Patrick from breaking outside the pocket as well.
