It's absolutely the right call per the rule.

If you are going to the ground (whether by yourself or while being tackled) you have to control possession all the way until the end of the play. He didn't. No catch.

Game of the year by the way.

Black Bob 12-17-2017 06:22 PM

I don't get the playoff hate for Alex.

2014 vs Indy - he went into there house and lit it up. Defense blew it. On the final drive he was moving the ball great and butter fingers Bowe dropped an easy pass on the sideline that would have put us in field goal range.

2015 vs. NE - clock management killed us. That was on Andy.

2016 vs. Houston - He was great in that game and we won 30-0

2017 vs. Pittsburgh - he leads the team down the field at the end of the game and gets the TD. We go for two to tie the game and he threads the needle making the best pass of his career only to have a BS holding call on fisher.

He could get us the AFC Championship imo. Probably won't win but he could get us there.

kcpasco 12-17-2017 06:22 PM

Expect NE has more class than Shitsburg. Tomlin coaches his players to be dirty.

pugsnotdrugs19 12-17-2017 06:22 PM

How are people mad that wasn't a catch? The NFL has been calling it that way for awhile. If you don't control the ball to the ground, it's incomplete.

O.city 12-17-2017 06:22 PM

It was the right call

CasselGotPeedOn 12-17-2017 06:22 PM

How the **** are some of you morons saying the Steelers got robbed? The ball clearly moved when it hit the ground. Some of you are dumb as shit.

staylor26 12-17-2017 06:23 PM

Clearly wasn’t a catch to anybody that understands the rule.

Dylan 12-17-2017 06:23 PM

The idea that a guy catches a ball, goes to a knee then slightly bobbles the ball trying to advance is an incomplete catch is ridiculous. The entire sport is a damn joke

We’ve given up a TD to a TE in back to back games. We are not equipped to defend them without Berry, especially Gronk.

To be fair, unless I didn't see the play properly, that pass bounced off one player into another.

Then the rule is broken in my opinion, that’s been a catch as long as any of us have played football. He had control, knee down, stretch for the end zone, clears the goal line and the ball twists as he hits the ground. Incomplete 🤔

I don’t know, just don’t agree with the rule in the spirit of the game that’s a catch to me.

Possession and he touched the line with the ball. Two hands with control and he touched the line. It was a stupid as call.

it can now.

What is a catch? No one knows.

Looks like your questions been answered, but per the rule, if a player makes a catch and is going to the ground, he has to maintain possession of the ball throughout the going-to-the-ground motion. So, in this case, he caught the ball but as he fell toward the goal line the ball hit the ground and he clearly lost possession; therefore, it's not a catch.

He was going to the ground. That changes what you need to do to qualify as a catch.

You can hate the rule, but he didn't catch it.

None of that matters if you don't keep control of the ball. We've seen that with Dez, Calvin Johnson, and numerous other players.

The receiver has to control the pass to the ground.

This. Great sport, horrid referees and inconsistent interpretation of shitty rules designed to maximize profits. See offensive explosion the last two decades since they started tinkering with the defensive rules.

There's a difference between being philosophically against the rule and determining if the rule was called correctly.

I think most consider it a shit rule, but it was clearly called correctly based on how it's written.

Harris had possession in the end zone 2 feet down and the ball was stripped so they called it incomplete. I don’t want to hear any crying for the Steelers.

There is a difference between whether it should be a catch on principle and whether it should be a catch by the rule.
