It's probably a good time for a new 2013 Repository.

And maybe a neg rep-whoring thread called the "Come and Get Your Elliot Johnson Neg-Rep here" thread.

Let's all take a long shower, a deep breath, a stiff drink, and come back tomorrow.

Good idea, especially the stiff drink part.

siberian khatru 08-14-2013 03:39 PM

Josh Vernier doing a good job ripping them for mental errors.

Six at-bats during Turner's stint, when he was struggling with his control, lasted 2 pitches or less.

siberian khatru 08-14-2013 03:42 PM

Also Ned said best-case scenario is Moose can PH Saturday.

So we're going to play at least three games of the Detroit series with Carroll/Bonifacio at 3B. That's horrible. Unacceptable.

All the more reason we had to sweep this series. We are on the brink of the season being over as far as playing meaningful games. Two is looking like a best case scenario for us in Detroit.

I believe there is a 10 day waiting period or something before he can come back up unless someone goes on the DL, in this case Moustakas.

siberian khatru 08-14-2013 03:49 PM

Hell, I'd rather put Gordon back at 3B for the Detroit series and play Maxwell-Dyson-Lough in the OF.

Yost indicated that either Emilio Bonifacio or Jamey Carroll will play 3B over the next few days in Detroit.

I think that is a pretty good indication that we are about to have a hurting put on us, especially given that it also means we will be seeing Getz at 2B. Though, dare I utter this...Getz has actually been acceptable at the plate in his two games back. By acceptable I mean he isn't an automatic out.

I really think we would be better off doing like Siberain suggested and put Gordon at third and play Lough, Dyson, and Maxwell in the outfield.

penbrook 08-14-2013 04:02 PM

Yes, two crappy games. The problem is that the Royals have very little margin for error right now. It's ridiculous to talk playoffs when you're the third-place team in the division.

Actually, getting rid of Mike Aviles is one of the things the Royals did right. Keep in mind, they booted a dude coming off of two years of batting .325 and .304. They were right, he turned into a below replacement or at replacement player, and now hits .250, below-avg defense, and doesn't get on base.

2013 War Mike Aviles - 0.7
2013 War Miguel Tejand - 0.6 (in less games)

Combining War of Tejada and Getz in the same amt of games, you still get more Win Above Replacement that Aviles.

When there are three minor leaguers in your lineup your not gonna win a lot.

Simple. You put Elliot Johnson in the lineup and have him play third base.

Dyson and Getz. So your saying Getz and Dyson are everyday major leaguers.

Lex Luthor 08-14-2013 07:51 PM

Why the **** is Elliot Johnson still on this team?

He's got 1 hit in his last 51 at bats, and his error today cost the team the game. I don't get it.

That batting average of .019 since June 21st IS pretty impressive. That must be the reason.

The refusal to give some guys with potential a chance right now is absolutely idiotic. Instead he wants to bring in retreads and cast offs because they have "experience" and they are "trustworthy."

Yes we know from experience that we can trust that Elliot, Getz, Bonifacio, and Carrol are going to suck out loud and cost the team victories.

duncan_idaho 08-14-2013 10:22 PM

Bonifacio has at least been a high level player in the past and is still young enough to think he could recover. I don't think lumping him in with Carroll, Getz, Johnson is fair at this point.

tk13 08-14-2013 10:24 PM

I'd agree with that. Bonifacio is way more talented than any of the other three utility guys we have.*

*No baseball fan should be forced to write a sentence about their team that includes the phrase "the other three utility guys."

If Bonifacio was replacing two of them then it wouldn't matter so much. When Moose comes back if he takes the 2B spot and we dump Johnson and he plays more than the other option then that will be okay. That way we don't have to see Carrol or Getz on any kind of regular basis.

I was thinking Carrol took Tejada's spot. With Bonifacio coming don't they have to get rid of someone tomorrow?

They do, and it should be Getz unless they think Bonifacio can play SS when Escobar sits. If that's the case, Johnson can be sent out.

Best-case scenario would be that Moustakas is ready to play by Monday. He plays 3B everyday and they use Bonifacio as the everyday 2B.

Definitely. I really hate Johnson right now but of the two, him or Getz, Getz is the one more likely to inexplicably take time away from Bonifacio so hopefully he is the one gone. That being said, Johnson looked so disengaged today so my guess is that he knew this was his last game here.

I think that's how this plays out and I hope to wake up to the news that Johnson has been DFA'd. But does Moore cut bait that early with him is the question. Any insight on Keitzman's "story" about Tejada? My hunch is he had a source blowing him bad info because nobody else has mentioned it. And start a new repository damnit

I toyed with the idea of putting Johnson at SS so I could put Bonifacio at 2B. Then you'd have the all-utility infield. If only we could get Graffanino to DH, Esteban German in LF and Ross Gload in RF. Ultimate lineup.

Yes, he can play almost every position from the looks of it.

He has played all 3 OF positions, 3rd, SS, and 2nd (if i'm reading the positions right).
