You see that deep ball he tried to throw last night? He just didn't have anything on it. You have Bronco fans pissed because there wasn't a flag but the real question is how that ball ended up needing contact at the catch point to begin with. He just made a lousy throw. And as a Chiefs fan, I KNOW lousy deep balls when I see them. |
2 TD’s on 2.1 air yards and 1.9 ADOT in the first half LMAO
For reference, Mahomes air yards that people bitched at was nearly twice as much at about 4 air yards. Holy shit is this bad.

This was an egregious underthrow pic.twitter.com/2pmWl7Hm5G
— Joel Moran (@joelvmoran) December 20, 2024
 |
Yup, that's the throw.
Clean pocket, open throw that easily could've swung the game, and Nix just doesn't have the ass to get it there. Just a god-awful throw. It looked like Cassel's 'hail mary' from the 30 yard line that doinked off the crossbar. Just no zip on the ball at all despite stepping into it. Like I said - this guy is a best case scenario for us. He's going to have these guys in QB purgatory for a decade. God I'm looking forward to the extension they give him. |
Herbert on the other hand.....yeah he's a problem.

He just has to get out of his own way. If Harbaugh is using this season to iron out the wrinkles through lower usage rates and next season he'll take the 'improved' version of Herbert and lean more heavily into him, then yes - LAC will be a headache. But there's also a chance that he'll just be a highly paid game manager for the duration of the Harbaugh era. Circumstances are a bigger question than talent with Herbert. And of course mental fortitude. It's Herberts 5th year as a starter. He's entering his prime. It's shit or get off the pot time for him. If he's going to make 'the leap' we'll see it next season or we won't see it at all. |
Also of note with Herbert - despite the elite OT play he's getting, he's been sacked 40 times this season. Sometimes QBs get themselves hit - Herbert, despite Harbaugh not asking a ton from him, is a guy that's getting himself hit a bit.
But it will be interesting to see if he can maintain this level of efficiency if his volume gets back up to the 650-700 attempts/season range. He might not even have 500 attempts this season. Harbaugh has really put the governor on him. |

He’s not the best rookie QB. He’s not the 2nd best either. No way can anyone with clear eyes watch Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye and think this kid is better. He’s just got the best team/coach right now. This kid is gonna be a major problem if the Patriots can ever figure out their coach.

Drake Maye Top Plays from 2024 (🎥)

A top 5 QB by 2026

⚠️ WARNING: Do not try at home.
