Look man, theres no point in hashing out what Smith is or isn't at this point, we all know his limitations by now.

But the cold, hard, proven fact is, when he's surrounded by a strong overall team that's well coached, he can not only get you into the playoffs but win when he gets there... notice I didn't say "carry", but yes... with the right pieces in place he can win big.

Len Dawson wouldn't have won it all in 70 without that HOF studded defense, Otis Taylor, Podolak etc.

Elway didn't win shit until he had a killer back, two stud receivers and a truly legit defense.

Come to think of it, all of the talk about "QB X" carried his team to a Super Bowl win is complete nonsense... a QB can kinda carry a team through the regular season, but once all of the teams are good he cant do jack squat without a solid group around him.

It happened when he had the chance to go to the playoffs. There are some things that you can fault Smith for, post-season play is not one of them.

He is the current active leader for post-season passer rating.
