Archery is rogue-only too. They wanted the two classes to be unique this time around. So warrior is sword and board and 2h with its skills and specialties, and rogue dual-wield and archery with its skills and specialties. I think it's a good move. Rogue looks way, way cooler than it did in DAO and the warrior trees are varied so that 2h should be more viable, even for tanking. I really like the way the skill trees look heading into the sequel (I thought posted a link to a thread on the official boards covering them somewhere on here, but maybe not: http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/to.../index/6090138).
A lot of stuff is locked for the demo... I just started downloading from fileplanet. We'll see if that's any faster than the direct download from EA. Looks to be, Kind of funny, they want a million downloads. That ain't happening at 60 kb/s. |
Fileplanet's downloading at around 800 kbps, so far so good.
|
I got it via torrent.

Really though, is a million downloads across 3 platforms really that high a bar to set? |
Heh, I'd been downloading for 4 hours off the main site and still have 5.5 to go. Fileplanet should be done in a half hour. WTF ea ROFL

Got through the demo, for some reason I got logged off the network so I have to run it again to unlock the item. Which is no biggie, I'd plan to run it several times anyway.
It's pretty awesome. The skills and combat is like a night and day improvement over the first. I played mage the first time through, and you're powerful right from the get-go (I mean when the 'real' story starts...). But the warriors are really strong too. Aveline's a strong tank immediately, and Carver can chew stuff up. I'm going to play as a rogue next time through, to get that flavor. Nothing really to complain about. It still feels like dragon age. I couldn't figure out how to completely turn tactics off (I never used them in DA:O...) so I had party members occasionally randomly attacking stuff, but they weren't wasting spells and skills since I'd clicked those off. The overhead camera doesn't go quite as far back/high, but it's not enough to really feel like a deficiency. And while the combat seemed more fast pace, and a ton more fun, it still, again, feels like dragon age. I was pausing and telling everybody what to do just like I did in the first game. You're locked into Normal difficulty, so it's obviously going be easy, but I'm already sweating thinking about how to get through the starting sequence on Nightmare. Can't wait another two weeks... |
