Butler with the groundout to right field... . #fat'nKC

That is what happens when no one respects your power.

What is funny, I did that to someone in softball when I played. He was pissed, raged on me for not letting him on. They were one of the old men teams that were great when they were younger, placement hitting team now. I just grinned. I could play on their team now as I throw like a girl since I hurt my shoulder.

Love the look of that flashy slash. Mediocre OBP, highlighted by lesser slug. That takes a special kind of suck.

Be Royal.

Sad thing is, I do not think anyone in our system could improve those numbers.

What happened to him is the bigger problem. Same with everyone else on the team. Prima donna bitches. No heart. Whiny.

I am surprised our pitching staff has not given up more games from lack of caring. At this point I would rather them send down most of the fielders and send replacements from AAA. Well excluding Mooseknuckle.

I feel like the Royals have 9 light hitting lead off hitters most nights.

gblowfish 05-30-2014 03:33 PM

Actually, Hudler was a career .261 hitter. That's not bad for a utility guy. He hit 16 HRs with the Angels one year. That's better than what Hosmer, Butler, or Moose will do this year.

Hosmer looked to have regained the ability to loft the ball over the last 4 months of last season. Not sure where that went over the offseason, but it's damned disappointing.

He's still hitting the ball hard a lot and hitting a lot of screamers... but he's not generating any loft.

You could say similar things about Gordon and Butler, too.

The sad thing is... this team doesn't need those guys to be 40 HR boppers to be good. It doesn't even really need them to hit 30 HR apiece. It needs 20 HR and 40 2B or so each, all numbers they're quite capable of producing.

I can't really say for Gordon or Butler, but I've mentioned several times that Hosmer's stance is what's keeping him from hitting homers.

Several posts on twitter, this blip is from rotoworld. he's in the lineup

Royals recalled 3B Mike Moustakas from Triple-A Omaha.
Moustakas predictably mashed in his brief time back in the minors, hitting .355/.412/.548 with one homer over 34 plate appearances. That's all well and good, but the only reason he's back in the majors this soon is because Danny Valencia (wrist) has landed on the DL. Moose can't be trusted in fantasy leagues.
Jun 1 - 9:49 AM

DeezNutz 06-01-2014 10:17 AM

There was also an article about in The Star. Dude was hitting .355 or so in AAA, and thus it's looking like he's probably a AAAA player.

I read this in the paper this AM. Rany is spot on. Hard to argue with the facts. DMGM is hoping David Glass is reading the St. Louis Post Dispatch this AM, following his favorite team, the Cardinals.

That's very well written. I feel like DM can slide by a bit because the general public is often more outraged about Glass and Yost. If Beane or Friedman had the resources DM has been given they'd be killing it. That's the only reason we got Shields, the Rays are dirt poor.

I believe the Rockies World Series team a few years ago spent less than the Royals too. There are other examples.

Yup and it's why I defend Yost to a certain extent on this board. This shit is way over Ned and his day to day managing. These players simply aren't very good. That is and always will be solely on the guy bringing them in....DM.

If they're going to draft bats, I'd prefer to see them draft an advanced college guy or two, guys that are more finished products. They typically have tended towards HS bats with elite upside, but I could see them stepping away from that this year (just like they did in 2009 and 2010) to try to fill in holes in the next "wave" of players (A+ and AA). There are really not any OF bats other than Bonifacio, unless you're counting on Starling figuring it out (bad proposition). A college player or two could help with that.

Kyle Schwarber of Indiana fits that bill. Good plate discipline, elite power (not that it means anything with the Royals, who seem to thrive at turning guys with elite power into contact hitters). Probably is a LF/DH/1B type in the majors, but he'll be available at 17 and maybe even at 28.

Other names to watch:

Kodi Madeiros (Hawaiian who keeps getting connected to KC... raw lefty HS kid who throws from weird arm angles and seems very anti-KC approach)

Jeff Hoffman (East Carolina college hurler is currently on the shelf with TJ but might slip. Should be ready to throw by mid-season next year.)
