The interviews from Veach and Reid, along with everything I've read sure lead me to believe that THEY aren't worried about the knee.
I don't think Veach and Reid are stupid, so I'm going to assume they know things I don't. so I'm not going to worry about it. I'm assuming he's ready for camp, just like Reid says. |

Honestly curious... |

The data isn't very good and we don't know how high the risk actually is, but that's a boring narrative. |

At the every least, I think it means he will participate in TC and be ready for the season. |

Watching him athletically, the body size, the first comp I thought of was healthy D.J. Humphries. He was a really elite mover before the injury, if a touch on the smaller side for a LT. He does have a lot more upper-body strength than guys you see who are that size, usually. Elite, perhaps, even. The pre-injury package is pretty exciting based on his physical traits. His movement skills pop on play tape from this year, but his competition was also pretty meh, so it's hard to really tell how much of a jump he had made from 2023, when he was just an OK starter. The only time I saw him live for an entire game was the Cotton Bowl. I don't remember Darius Robinson lining up over RE to match up against him much, but I do remember Johnny Walker winning from that side a few times, but Mizzou also ran junk fronts at times and would sometimes create weird matchups. The healthy version of this player seems like an ascending guy with pretty close to perfect traits. |
is it really gonna be
"it's too risky" "he has an injury thats super scary" "well it's a risk vs reward type of thing" "but it's so scary that he's injured" "well if he can recover it will be great" "but it's so scary that he's injured" "ya it's a risk but it could possibly pay off" "but it's so scary that he's injured, every team passed on him tho" this type of back and forth for several months? it is what it is, hope it pays off |
Trust in Butkholder.
The Chiefs have intimate knowledge of his injury and the surgery. Had the surgery not gone as well as it did they don't take him but he's healed well. Seems like there is risk but at 32 seems like a great pick to me. |

Burkholder, an athletic trainer with 30+ years of experience has directly examined him, thoroughly reviewed all of his medical information, etc., and says he’s good to go. I doubt Burkholder would be pressured into reaching that conclusion if he didn’t believe it to be true. So that’s who I am going to trust. |

His patellar didn’t implode walking down the stairs… he good.

I think much of criticism of this high risk selection has taken for a granted a few things: 1) the chiefs are destined to win all close games. 2) the D will remain top 5-10 indefinitely 3) Chiefs O is destined to be great with Mahomes.
The first two I'm not even going to address, but #3 -- the Chiefs O *sucked* last year and the team had no business really making the SB. It was luck. Look, the Chiefs dynasty was built on a high flying offense with Mahomes. That's what can make this insane dynasty continue -- and I think that's the view of Reid and Veach, too, and explains why they did this. |
Jesus, did he fly in a plane or did the plane fly around him?
That is a large human being. |
