Didn't know Brett drank

I really don't know how I feel about this move. Excited to see Brett in the dugout everyday, but I am worried it will fail.

Brett's here, legitimate, and sensible for a quick band-aid. But it's such a transparent move in so many ways that it's not even funny. |

Here's is yesterday's Rex Hudler Turd Polishing condensed from 25 minutes to 2 minutes:

It sounds like the reason they promoted the other guy is to teach what Brett directs. Basically, Brett is the department head outlining the structure of the program and determining the course of study. The flunky is the teacher tasked with delivering it to the individual guys. |

All that ****ing weasel Dayton Moore does is keep trying to buy himself time.

The major difference is that the Chiefs have made the playoffs 11 times since the Royals last made it in 1985. Now, the Chiefs have only won 3 games in those playoff appearances, but at least they are getting in the mix. The Royals..............not so ****ing much. |
Why would any employee NOT claim he needs more time? Everyone wants unlimited time.
|
Do you think this adds any accountability? I'm sure nobody wants to be that guy that pisses off George where as they could give a **** about Yost.
|
I bet Glass new how tight Moose and Hosmer were going to be this year and firmly placed a lump of coal up their asses

I hope this team doesn't make GB poop himself again....

I do like the fact they are trying to get George on the bench before he is in his 70's

Great...now the two reeruns that were effin up our MLB hitters are giong to pollute our already sucky minor league guys. These clowns have no business in the organization at all.

Not to be a dick, but the hitting coach's ML success, or lack thereof, is completely irrelevant to how much they know about hitting and how well they can understand and communicate necessary changes to the hitters.
Great players often make the worst coaches. Hal McRae is probably the worst hitting coach the Cardinals have had in this century, yet he was far and away the best hitter. I don't see a reason why Brett wouldn't work as a hitting coach, but to bring up his success as a player compared to the coaches you just demoted is not the reason why he'll work if he does. |

I'm so happy for George, I could SING!

Hey look, it's the inevitable panic move, but they wrapped it up in a neat little PR package to give appearances that they really do care!
This team can't even **** shit up properly. |
Desperate GMDM move is desperate.

They needed to do something. I can't see Brett doing to daily grind of coaching very long. |

I think it would be great to hire Rany as Director of Player Personnel or some similar role. It would be bad idea to ask him to run the entire organization. |
Did the asshole get fired yet?

Interesting interview with Seitzer on 810 right now.
Re: Hos -- Said last year he killed the ball in spring training and started the season smoking the ball, but hitting it right at people (we all remember this). He said for the first month and a half he was on his knees pleading with Hos to stick with it, the hits would eventually fall. But he said Hos eventually caved and wouldn't listen anymore -- "I lost him," Seitzer said -- and changed his swing and screwed everything up. And that's where he is today. |

Juan Francisco DFA'd by Braves....future Royal?
|
Fair enough. I think the Royals would greatly benefit from having Rany at the table with his insight/perspective.
Alright, Paul DePodesta as GM, Rany on the leadership team as a consultant, and whoever they want to hire as manager. |

I could roll with a bunch of names. I just know that De Podesta got screwed by the McCourt's in LA...smart, young, still hungry...and same frame of thinking as Rany. I would trust them to find a manager who knows how to put a lineup together and manage pitching.
I would love to see Dave Righetti get a long look. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/dave-...the-hrfb-rate/ |
How hard do the other managers laugh at David Glass after Glass leaves a conference room at the owner's meetings?

Hiring Brett means someday firing Brett. Maybe Frank White type hurt feelings occur. That would be a real tragedy. |

I think I know what's wrong with the Royals coaching. They're only allowed to work 36 hours a week. See, they're not allowed to go over 40, because then, Wal-Mart would have to pay their health and dental insurance.
So our players don't get as much instruction as other teams do. It's that simple. Oh, and watch for Ned to show up in some Emergency Room with an ulcer, on the taxpayer's dime! |

7 years of GMDM have brought us.... No where.

My list to interview would include:
Dave Righetti Matt Williams Kevin Seitzer Frank White Jim Riggleman |
Who's gonna do the game thread?

Per 810, that's the lineup.
Good to see that the Brett-era begins looking legit. We might as well take that 5 down at the K, putting it back up with clown colors. |
I'm pissed that Getz isn't batting clean-up

Are any of the azzhole **** faces fired yet?

"Out of frustration" Brett on taking the position

If anything, George is gonna give us some good sound bytes out of this.
|
Sounds really convicted..."I'm gonna give it a try.." "I'm scared to death"
 |
Dayton called and asked what I thought and I said, "Uhhhh....."
|
George looks like he's ready to throw the table over. LMAO
I love his style. |
"Hoping to stay on at least a month"..you can't make this shit up.LMAO
|
I'll be here at least a month. Next manager might as well use the same quotation.
