Finally watched some of this. It's fine. Closer to early Game of Thrones than the shit D&D winged after they ran out of source material.

Maybe it has a lot to do with a ton of archetypes from the early seasons being reused in this content, although that's more GRRMs doing. Aegon just seems like a slightly more sympathetic Joffrey in ways and Otto is 'we have Tywin Lannister at home' personified. That's just off the top of my head.
