I think the timing of this might be a great wake up call for Moose. He ends up having to lug his ass up I-29 to Omaha, while the rest of the team heads back to SoCal (His home stomping grounds) without him. So he misses out on going home and playing in front of his friends and family, because he played his way off the big club. That's got to sting, and hopefully that will get his attention and make him work harder to earn his spot in the majors. He's been coasting on his draft position for most of the last two years.

WTI and duncan have more HRs in the last two pages than Moose does all year.

Also, the Tigers have three more after today with Texas and then four with Oakland. They could easily lose 5 games in that stretch. Whereas our next 6 games are with Anaheim and Houston. Not too much of a stretch to see us win 4 of those games.

Season ain't over, but we did piss away a great opportunity to make up some serious ground on the Tigers by losing 2 of 3 at home to the ShitSox.

Meanwhile, Miguel Olivo got DFAed by the Dodgers today. If some team would just lend him an ear, he'd say he's chomping at the bit to get back to majors!

Man I liked Tejada a lot last year. Forgot what exactly he took, but it was something that he's still serving a suspension for.
He had some character on the field at least.

Meh, he's got a midlevel payroll and his team is .500. Sounds like he's performing about where he should be given his resources. We'd all love BIlly Beane or Andy Friedman but all things considered the team is playing to expectations right now.

This is a .500 ballclub with .500 talent. It's that simple.

Everyone needs to chill out, and accept this fact.

That's what I've said all year. My hope is that they can go on a run and finish enough above .500 to catch the Tigers, or snag a wildcard spot.

It has potential to be better thsn that. Most of the guys are well off pace of where you would expect them to be offensively. Aoki , Hos, Butler, Gordon....a huge hole at 3rd that finally got filled.

I think the pen holds up and Shieds, Vargas, and Gutherie prettu much are what they are. The key is Ventura and Duffy taking a step up. They are the wildcards.

This has been discussed before. The Royals have had several power bats over the past few decades.

Bo Jackson, Tartabull, Gaetti, Dean Palmer, Jeff King, Sweeney, Beltran, and even Butler a few years ago.

Even The guys we have now, should be hitting for more power, but for some inexplicable reason they are not.

I still can't see how Hosmer is not hitting 400 foot line shots. He attacks the pitch as hard as any player I've ever seen.

Yep. Cain and Escobar are the only ones that I expect to take a small step back, but the other 7 guys should be taking huge steps foward the rest of the season on offense(including Valencia for Moose). They have grossly under performed on offense while the pitching has basically been what was expected and they are still 500. There is reason to be optimistic.

Except that this is nearly the same offense as last season. And we finished in the bottom of the league in a lot of important offensive categories last season. Why should we believe that will change?

I guess Aoki, Infante, and Valencia can be better than Lough, Getz, and Moose. Hope that's enough.

The pitching staff if it holds true would be pretty daunting with how playoff pitching rotations condense and could make a lot of teams sweat.

I love this idea, but I would bat Escobar/Dyson/Cain 9th. Having one of them on 1st with Gordon up will result in more fastballs in anticipation of the steal and more favorable counts for the same reason. That would ignite Alex's bat, IMO.
