People can report PM's so that they're posted in the mod forum intact (so that there's no question of whether it was edited for impact). There are also plugins out there that can give mods the power to log in as another user, though it's not anything that's installed on CP. There's no built-in way for mods to view PM's though.

Yeah, reported PM's. I forgot about those. Otherwise though, I think they should be untouchable.

Well, mods can change passwords directly - there's no need for all the email business. However, they can't SEE passwords, so there'd be no way to put it back afterward. So yes, they could get in and take a look, but it would be pretty obvious something was up if the user tried to log back in and couldn't.

I still feel like what I said was TIC...it was a ridiculous scenario. It wasn't nearly as bad as the 'reerun breeder' comment made by DaneMcCloud...and it was set off by a user harassing me doing something he was already told to never do again.
