I agree. Our starting pitching is primarily what has kept us in the hunt.

Really, with this offense, it's been the only thing thus far.

I was EXTREMELY ENCOURAGED to see both Billy and Gordon hitting the ball so well in the same game. If we can get those 2 going, this is a team that can get to the Playoffs and be a legit factor in post-season. But, to rely just on pitching, and not have those guys be major factors, nfw.

Guthrie is pretty average. If he's our #5 guy, we're really doing good, and I think if Duffy is even half of what he's shown the last two starts, that's what he'll be. Just please don't let Yost be stupid and put freaking Chen back in over Duffy.

Today, I sat right below Rivals for $2, as there's a $2 surcharge for using the free ticket deal.

I also took in two bottles of water, a bag of peanuts, a bag of sunflower seeds, and two Subway sandwiches.

With parking included, I spent about $35 for myself and my girlfriend to go to the game.

Sweet. The other people are just doing it wrong then if they are spending $150 a game.

The Good news the Royals are playing consistently .500 baseball through May.. which is encouraging when remembering last year.

The Bad news... Detroit has won 6 straight (all on the road). And has won 15 of their last 18 games. They have the best record in all of baseball and are statistically the second best (behind a mercurial hot Oakland).

If Detroit stays form, the only hope is that we snag that last Wild Card spot.

Some friends and I were talking about this over the weekend, this offense gets to firing with this pitching and defense and KC is one dangerous team and with so many games left with the tiggers we could be in for a helluva Summer/Fall yet.

Zero chance Chen comes back to the rotation. The plan all along was for Chen to move to the bullpen mid season. It just is going to happen earlier because of his injury

At 15 to 1 to win the ALCS and 30 to 1 to win it all $40 that I would have dropped on video poker could turn into $950 and it gives me something more to watch for.

They'll come back down to Earth. I'd much rather they have a legit winning streak in May than Sept.

I certainly think we can. I'm not losing hope yet on the Division. Like I said, if we can get the meat of our order (3-5) to start hitting, this is a completely different Club than what we have seen thus far. We know the SP and Def is solid, and the Pen is coming around. There's a reason that many Pundits thought we would contend for the Central. It's still very possible. Here's hoping!

Great Expectations 05-19-2014 10:36 AM

Is Zimmer throwing again? I heard they had delayed his comeback by a week or so.

ChiefsCountry 05-19-2014 10:39 AM

Getting swept by Detroit is what really is hurting right now. Say we had won at least 1 game in each of those series, we would be right at the top of the wildcard.

As far as I know, yes.
Last I heard he threw a simulated game a couple days ago and is throwing 2 innings in a game today at extended spring training.

We are catching a break with Chicago right now. Abreu just went to the DL and Sale still isn't pitching. Tonight's pitcher for them has been getting rocked.

Winning anything less than two games in this series will be a disappointment.

The 2011 Red Sox lost 20 of 27 games in September which included losing the last game of the regular season that eliminated them from post season play. And, in that last game of the season, they were one out away from a 3-2 victory that would have put them in the playoffs. The Tigers need to have a losing streak.

I gotta have faith. The Tiger's 14-4 road record is an aberration. I believe they'll come back to earth eventually.

Lets not forget Miguel Cabrera broke down in the second half of last season. He was still productive but not his normal self at all. That could easily happen again.

So what if they do? They're 10 up on us already. Does anyone actually think we're going to be 11 games better than them the rest of the way? With our slapdick offense? Almost zero chance.

If it was the Twins or White Sox off to a great start, no biggie. But Detroit has been better for years and every intelligent person thought they'd be again too. It's like if the Broncos get off to a 5-0 start next year. Different than if the Faders do.

DM and Yost both mentioned that the players want Moose up in KC. I found that logic to be sorta frightening. Are the inmates running the asylum? And what player would want a .150 hitter up when he's (a) hurting the team and (b) not earning his time in MLB like every one of them had to.

Well what do you expect them to say when asked that question? It's not like they are going to say, "yea, the players want someone else to get a shot up here." No manager is going to throw a player under the bus to the media. Asking MLB players question and seeing their answers as truth is pretty reeruned. Sports media in general is pretty worthless because you are mostly getting lip service for any actual meaningful question.

810 is boycotted. LMAO

On 810 yesterday, Danny Clinkscale gave a sob story about how 810 is now boycotted from Royals players. I guess he went to Valencia in the locker room and tried to get an interview. Some player said "It's the evil 810". Valencia told Clink he wasn't supposed to talk to him. As did several other players. Supposedly the "Boycott" was orchestrated by Jerrod Dyson.

810 claims that it has to do with Hosmer, Dyson, and somebody else showing up at 810 Zone to watch a fight and getting turned away because they were at capacity.

TMZ update...

I could care less.... but not much less.

Most of us do not get Royals news from 810, if they have an interview that might be mildly interesting and might be a reason to listen, but if they don't, I'm not broken up about it.

A couple players got pissed off for not being admitted into some club? Fine, I'm not gonna rally around 810 and be mad at the players because of how little I care about this "issue". Maybe 810 should hire smarter lackeys in their 810 zone who have enough of a clue to figure something out.

I think, based on the timing, that it's more likely this is a result of them not liking the attacks on Moustakas (which were over the line and strayed into personal territory, apparently).

Hard to believe they were so incensed about not getting in to watch a fight (that happened like 3 weeks ago) that they just now are getting around to boycotting because of it.

Spoiled brat behavior, either way.

So they are supposed to throw some people out of their restaurant so they can sit Hosmer and Dyson, because they are from the mighty Royals? Asinine.

Fish 05-21-2014 08:07 AM

I don't think that not getting in to the 810 Zone has anything to do with the Royals players snubbing 810. I think that's just 810's attempt at sensationalizing an otherwise pathetic jr high girl squabble.

Clinkscale sounds like he'd be a colossal douche in person. Hearing him explain it in his whiny nasally voice "So I went up to another player and said will you speak to the evil 810?" So much butthurt.....

Evidently the players as much said it was about not getting into the 810 Zone. The guys on 810 never brought that to light untilt the asshats on the Royals decided to give them the silent treatment.

This is what is wrong with the Royals, spoiled brats that are not nearly as good as they think they are acting like they should be treated like real legends like Brett and Frank White.

These guys should worry about hitting a few homers and not getting picked off second base and looking like a clown. Dyson needs to go anyway.

Deberg_1990 05-21-2014 08:24 AM

So future Hall of Famer Jerod Dyson is running the show now? ROFL

I wasn't sure at the time if it was intentional, but when Petro interviewed Moore last week, Dayton went on about how he respects the job media members do and mentioned all the Star guys (McCullough/Mellinger) by name and left off all the radio guys. The butthurt trickles down from the top.

Basically to the point where we have a GM who is so worried about HIS guys getting criticized he is becoming a Pioli clone. It does trickle down from the top. We need a total flushing of this organization from owner on down.

It pains me to say this, but the only way I see this happening is if I become a fan of another team.

I'd rather just stop following them... However, it's like crack.

DeezNutz 05-21-2014 08:55 AM

Sounds like things a "professional" sports team would do.

Even in a year when the Royals are not embarrassing on the field, they find a way to fulfill this expectation.

I am with you on that Zeke. I have been invested in this team since my folks had tickets when I was a toddler. 40 years later and not much winning her I am still caring. It is getting much easier not to care now that I have my own kids but had hoped to pass down my love of baseball and the Royals to them. Sadly, they team as a whole is just not real likable.

810 is still pissed off because they lost the Royals radio rights, which is a huge money maker for them. 810 wanted them on the cheap which was let the Royals sell a select amount of inventory themselves and then 810 takes care of the rest. The Royals wanted no part of that and 610 writes them the check instead. Keitzman bitches and moans about it all the time. 810 would not dare pull this shit with the Chiefs since they are an official partner.

Lol, pull what stuff? Not letting players into a restaurant that was at fire capacity? Asking a guy about his game winning hit?

There's rumbling about the Royals being dicks in the clubhouse to media other than 810 as well. They're sensitive bitches as an org.

810 is pissed because didn't get the radio rights, thus they will take any stupid story about the Royals and turn into TMZ type drama. Not that ****ing hard to see.

While there might still be some lingering butt hurt, this is not driving the current issue at all.

The Royals are embarrassing, petulant children.

I think they are equal drama queens to this event, don't you? That said, the Royals should be above this. The fact that they aren't, just accentuates their suck factor. The whole Organization is one giant vag.

Might as well re-name them the Piolis at this point.
