All judges had it 3-1 Mcdonald going into the 5th.

Me too, but I also thought one of the rounds I gave Lawler was close, so I figured it was either tied or Lawler had to have a finish.

Anyway, I saw the fight with my brothers (we get together for one UFC a year), and this was the single greatest UFC event I have ever seen. It was incredible, and I'm annoyed that I'll have to wait 3 or 4 months for it to show up on fightpass so that I can see the two main events while sober.

Thats exactly what I had, but I wasn't sure about 4. As it turned out, the judges had 4 for Rory, which is fine.

To Connor's credit he jumped right on him, but shortly before the knockdown and stoppage Mendez just dropped his hands completely down almost like he was looking for a punch that would take him down and he IMMEDIATELY just covered and it was over. When they got back up Mendez was fresh and hadn't taken any punishment really at all that round. He did take a couple of shots but nothing that would have led him to just drop both hands to his waist and slowly move to the side with his chin up. It just didn't look quite natural...especially after seeing how technically sound Mendez fought against Aldo.

Mendez took a ton of punishment to the body. He may have been looking to defend there. I hate that he lost but he gave McGregor all he wanted. He showed himself well, no complaints there.

UFC 191's main event in September is the tinyman title fight, Mighty Mouse vs Dodson. Main card includes PVZ and Rumble.

UFC 192 is DC vs Gustaffson, 10/3 in Houston

Gus would probably have to defend once or twice if he beats DC, because I'd expect JBJ to get at least a year after his trial (which hasn't even started yet) is finally finished.

Minor injuries + a sizable settlement with the injured chick + a celebrity=Probation+volunteer efforts+a big ass fine.

JBJ won't see a jail cell.

the "injured chick" has no say in it whatsoever, they won't even need her to testify or help them in any way. The prosecutor fully intends to bring felony charges to a grand jury.

Felony charges don't always mean jail time.

Yep. Probably probation. They can charge what they want but likely plea it down.

The UFC has fired "Stitch" Duran. He's been relentlessly hammering the UFC on social media over the Reebok deal for a while and started talking to the media about it today, and I guess the UFC finally had enough.

It was a pitiful move by the UFC. The reebok sponsorship hosed him. He was going to be required to wear the reebok logo, but was not going to be paid for it. He lost a lot of money from sponsorships. I'd be pissed as well.

Good for him, though. He's one of the best, and he'll have no trouble finding work.

The cutmen are not wearing Reebok, they just have a plain vest now, but yeah they kinda got hosed.

I read in an interview that they'll be wearing the reebok logo. Either way, thst doesn't matter if we agree they got hosed out of their sponsorship money. I'd like to know what his pay was without sponsorship money. He called it garbage today, but I'm sure that's him sweetening his side of the argument a bit.

nah, they had plain vests for 189, and Stitch said they weren't going to be wearing any logos now.

Anyway, this looks more like a pretty spectacular resignation (by forcing the UFC to fire him) than a real firing. He's got plenty of work for boxing and other promotions, so he felt free to just go off on the UFC.

I am pretty sure they get paid around 2% or 3% of the fighter's salary for the fight they work

Easy 6 07-22-2015 03:21 PM

UFC seems to have found its burst again, it seems to almost be like SNL where there are highs and lows with the cast, but right now looks exciting, all kinds of high stakes drama going down...

The Bisping decision over Leites was dodgy, I mean Leites didn't win handily but that fight was sooo close and iirc Bisping ALWAYS gets the judges calls in the UK.

Bisping calls out Hendo and Belfort as "cheating scumbags".

Weidmann calls out Bisping as a "joke", says he could beat the guy in two minutes while sleepwalking because "the guy has no punching power, I could literally fall asleep while he's punching me and then just throw him on the floor when I wake up" LMAO

McGregor and Faber legit going at it behind the scenes constantly these days.

Fedor wants in, which might draw Couture out of retirement.

Yeah, the UFC is starting to feel exciting again.

alnorth 07-22-2015 03:55 PM

We've got a free, exciting championship fight on FOX this saturday

SAUTO 07-22-2015 04:47 PM

Coture said he is most likely out on a fedor fight.

alnorth 07-22-2015 05:45 PM

Randy Couture is fifty-freaking-two. If he fights anyone it'll be a cash-grabbing freakshow. Bellator can do that sorta thing, but I hope the UFC does not.

For sure.

And I was the biggest fedor fan ever but he's long in the tooth for sure. Lots of wars.

Yeah...I would guess Fedor is done. I'm not exactly sure what he's been doing since Strikeforce, but he can't be in any shape to come fight top heavyweights in the UFC.

BigCatDaddy 07-22-2015 08:55 PM

What is sad is a Coulture/Kimbo fight would be a huge draw

The main card for UFC 190 will be 7 fights. Have they ever put that many on the PPV before?

They have to do that so when 1 or 2 get cancelled due to injury it still looks like a decent PPV card.

Media is reporting today that UFC 189 had 1 million buys. This is the first time a PPV card had at least 1 million buys since UFC 168 (Weidman vs Silva 2) in Dec. 2013

This fight card is weird. The best matchups are not backloaded at all, they are distributed throughout the card. There's 2, maybe 3 fights on the main card I'm interested in, 2 good fights in the prelims, and 2 cool fights on the early fightpass prelims.

Jerm 07-25-2015 01:13 PM

Hopefully Krause gets a W today...

Rasputin 07-25-2015 03:44 PM

Watching (2013) fight of St. Pierre vs Condit it's a blood bath. Love it I didn't remember this fight.

Demonpenz 07-25-2015 03:55 PM

what fights should I be eyeing?

Easy 6 07-25-2015 04:45 PM

I'm liking this little Robertson guy from nearby Washington Il, he's landing more punches in spite of having a huge reach disadvantage.

Now he's just knocked the big lanky mfer on his ass.

alnorth 07-25-2015 06:12 PM

Here we go. This main card is obviously absurd for a free event, it would be a very questionable sell for a $60 PPV, but FOX? Hell yeah.

My predictions:

Lauzon KO Rnd 2
Barboza Dec
Tate Dec
Dillashaw KO Rnd 4

alnorth 07-25-2015 06:21 PM

You don't see that very often. Lauzon was like "he's out cold, I'm not hitting him anymore"

Easy 6 07-25-2015 06:23 PM

More like Lauzon by domination in the first, he didnt give Gomi one second to figure things out... awesome win.

Joe showed good sportsmanship, he was going to call it himself before beating a helpless opponent.

Demonpenz 07-25-2015 06:31 PM

this fight has been pretty sweet so far. not often you get two kickers matched up

Easy 6 07-25-2015 06:41 PM

Felder has some nice kicks, he doesn't look like a particularly athletic guy but is full of surprises.

alnorth 07-25-2015 06:47 PM

This is the FOTN so far

alnorth 07-25-2015 06:53 PM

I don't want to be a judge for that. Felder won round 1, beyond that, I don't know.

alnorth 07-25-2015 06:57 PM

I'm fine with that, last 2 rounds were close but i had them both for Barboza.

alnorth 07-25-2015 07:28 PM

Yeah, this is 20-18 Tate. Eye needs a finish

alnorth 07-25-2015 07:38 PM

alnorth 07-25-2015 08:05 PM

10-9 for the champion

This looks exactly like their last fight

Perineum Ripper 07-25-2015 08:06 PM

That was a fun 1st round..like that they are throwing

Sorter 07-25-2015 08:06 PM

Barao looks slow. I don't know if he was still recovering or if he's struggling from the cut but his footwork/movement is not looking good.

Perineum Ripper 07-25-2015 08:09 PM

I noticed that too..he looks like he is dragging

alnorth 07-25-2015 08:11 PM

Dillashaw is so God damn good. A lesser fighter would have gone berserk after he hurt his opponent, but TJ knows he is almost guaranteed to win a long fight

Sorter 07-25-2015 08:12 PM

Yikes.

Barao looks terrible. Really surprised Nova U. didn't gameplan to have him work the body/legs the first two rounds instead of head-hunting.

Barao does not have a big gas tank.

Perineum Ripper 07-25-2015 08:14 PM

Looking like Barao is going to have to knock out the champ or start keeping distance and work on his legs..or get him down and get on top

Wicked body kick by Dillashaw.

Sorter 07-25-2015 08:17 PM

Dillashaw may have been able to finish the fight sooner if he took a few risks, but he knew that victory was inevitable if he fought smart, and picked him apart. He's gonna be a very tough champion to beat in Bantamweight.

That was a great fight on his part..he knew he would beat Barao going into the fight and in round 2 I think he seen Barao slow way down..then took his time and played it smart
